10 million by the end of the year...   Lets get the facts straight,  haha.

To OP,  yes this game will be as big as WoW was,  having 10 million subs by the end of the year.

2-3 million subs from PC  Launch is what it is looking like.   With more to come from other games.

3-5 million subs from consoles when they launch.  with a lot more to come afterwards.

By the end of the year should be looking at 10 million subs.

Starting will be around 5 million-8 million players between consoles and PC.  Then it will get up to 10 million by end of the year, if Zenimax stays true to its  content release schedule.

Keep in mind that on both PC and Console you have 20 million Skyrim buyers over the last three years,  which atleast 4 million of them will buy defacto given the 4 million morrowind and oblivion solid base.   the other 16 million will have started playing elder scrolls games with Skyrim,  so the more ES mimics skyrim the more of those other Skyrim buyers will be drawn to this MMORPG.

Can you please for the sake of all that is wrong in today's MMO player base stay on these boards and eat some crow when you're proven wrong.

I get tired of these outlandish claims and when they fail to come to fruition their outlandish posters delete their account and make a new one and start hyping and following a new game and repeat.  It's one thing to enjoy a game and love playing but it's entirely inappropriate to commit yourself to outlandish hyperbole to try and prove a point. This post will come t o haunt you as sure as the sun is bright.

Those that think there will be 10 million subs are smoking some of the good stuff.  Realistically, they are looking at half a million subs. Tops. Like all the other MMOs that aren't WoW.

Initial box sales and the predictable dive in players after the first month.

I think this is a real shame.  I actually played the first areas - both the starter area and a bit further, and I was feeling so bad for having been stupid enough to buy the game.  I even researched if it was possible to get a refund.  Then I tried again for a few more hours and at about level 7 or so I had a completely different view of the game.  The hooks of addiction just dug right in and now I'm loving it.

I personally think they really messed up the beginning of the game - both graphically and in terms of gameplay.  It does a TERRIBLE job of introducing the player to what this MMO is all about.  It's not the carbon copy MMO clone that I thought it was at first, and it actually has some very unique and interesting things to bring to the table.  Very immersive.  Some of the best quest design on the market.  And crafting that is insanely difficult (I like this, some don't).

    like what?

again IMO, people would have been more forgiving if this game was B2P instead of P2P.

Would have been much more successful.

I doubt that ESO can get to the top, or if it does that, that it would stay there for long. For two main reasons:

    a) cash shop + purchase + subscription fee = too much

    b) when I played the beta, it just didn't seem to offer enough new ideas to keep lots of people interested for long.

Not saying that the game will fail, I'm just saying that it's like Rift: overhyped with lots of new players at first, but in the end just another decent MMORPG with a decent player base. Rift also had new graphics and more new ideas.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Its almost two weeks now since head start. If game is selling like hot cakes and has already sold 2 or 3 million copies..why is Zenimax quiet about it?

We should have had an official brag statement by now.

    Refunds? ;)

The worst thing they can do is hype the game even more until they fix a lot of stuff. That will probably happen around console release, but this time around theres no mod community to fix the PC game like rest of ES series (AND Fallout khm...khm)
