A couple of questions about RvR/WvW

UlfperryUlfperry Member UncommonPosts: 7

Hi, i've grown bored of Guild Wars 2 and im considering picking up ESO, i just have a couple of questions:

1. Will i be able to play RvR from level 1?

2. Will i be able to gear up solely through rvr?

3. How does it compare to GW2 RvR/WvW wise?

Thanks.

Can't join until level 10. Leveling is pretty slow, but can be done.  You get plenty of gear in AvA and can be purchased with AP.

Compared to GW2, AvA (RvR is totally different. One large map as compared to 4 maps. No might or stability stacking, no mez bombs. Zerg vs Zerg is not a blob vs blob. The fighting is all spread out.  Unlike GW2 postern doors and paths to the siege keeps are guarded by the attacking force. Doors and walls can only be destroyed by siege yet you still see people tryind to mele doors. If you take a keep you have to repair the walls.  The landscape line of site is broken up and allows to be ambushed at any place at any time.

Small roaming groups (4 or 5 man) can really work behind he zerg or kill people on the edges of a zerg. Smaller groups can hit and run unlike GW2.

GW2 downed state is horrible. If you are a small group and beating a large group you have to kill a player twice or they will get back up.

ESO is a cross between DAoC and Warhammer.

1- PVP only from level 10

2- Yes, but it's not optimal, unless they changed it recently. Gearing up goes until level 50 and then veteran rank 10. These are much easier to obtain via questing, which is the best way to level up. It'll probably take quite abit pvp only.

However, from the data i gathered, the powercreep isn't that huge. A video i saw showed a level 26 (or whatever), killing level 50 one, that, according to the video, was also veteran ranked.

3- It's similar in certain ways, including the siege weapons. Some of the main differences included the obvious larger map size, a faction cap at 666 (?, it's 2000 playes max) and a transit network, which means that to port to a keep you captured, you need to link up with a previously owned keep.

Also, Cyrodiil contains alot of pve content like quests, dungeons, villaged with npcs, etc. Unfortunatly, besides the Elder Scrolls, there aren't any side objectives for smaller teams.

Each faction as 2 ES's, and they're deep inside the factions zone. If you retreive them, they'll give buffs to your Alliance.

Regarding the zerg element, we'll have to wait and see, but i see keep blobing to keep the prevelant strategy.

With all that said, i still think, from my limited time in beta, that it's quite better than WVW. If you feel that's worth a sub to you, then get, you won't regret it. Happy gaming.
