I'm currently torn between 2 characters- one is a healer sorc, the other is a sword/board DK tank. They are currently the same level, and I enjoy both. The main thing leaving me in the lurch is which role are people having the hardest time to fill: healers, or tank?

Tanks.
Every 'light armor' character seems willing to heal but only 1h+shield characters are willing to tank. Every single time I use the search for group tool, I'm in a full group instantly. I'm playing a tank. Lots of groups out there waiting for tanks.
OK, ignore me, I know nothing apparently.

This is just uneducated people moaning.. about 60% of all dungeon bosses can not be aggroed, during certain stages of the fight... sometimes the whole fight. Simple as that.
That seems like a rather odd design, trinity mechanics but don't let the tank actually hold aggro?

Exactly, this is not a tank and spank game, and the tank is NOT going to be able to hold aggro on 10 mob packs. It's impossible to do so. DPS and Healers have to rely on their dodging and blocking skill, as it should be, instead of sitting in the back of the fight pressing 1 every couple of seconds

The tank's job in ESO is to hold aggro on the most dangerous of enemies as much as possible I.E. bosses etc. Mob packs and bosses that drop aggro require tactics for the whole team rather than just relying on a skilled tank. It's by design to make the game more fun and challenging.

This is what I did. Sword/Board and Resto Staff. I can fill the two most needed roles in a dungeon It's a great system they have given us.

I agree, it is strange.. try playing a tank and wondering why spamming the taunt is doing nothing. Best thing tanks can do is have DPS slotted for your weapon swap and just help burn them down. Everyone else needs to remember to block and move in these fights.
People are wiping the most when the DPSers are lazy. I rarely see them block or move out of the aoe attacks.
I agree, but more because tanking is harder to master and good tanks are few in any trinity game.
Healing is not easy either, a good healer needs to be able to monitor the entire group all the time but there is nothing more useful in a trinity game than a good tank. There is however nothing worse than a bad tank who blames the healer for his own mistakes (seen plenty of those from Meridian 59 to today), so learn to mater the role.
While wayting on tanks, i found that good healers are just as rare asgood tanks....
thaats why i am mostly healing all the time... At lower levels staff healing cant touch a paladin with a healing staff... That just rocks..

Hmm, I always found tanking easier than healing. As a healer, I always found it difficult to pay attention to your surroundings. So even things like dodging stuff, moving out of area effects or any other changes in the environment you have to look for are way more difficult than when tanking and dpsing. Also as a healer you need to prioritise.
But you know what's funny about playing a tank? You always get the praise as a tank. Even if you suck. Healers just get screamed at if stuff goes wrong. And if they did an amazing job? Probably the tank will get all the props.
But yeah in a lot of games tanking can be brain dead easy. On the other hand I remember in vanilla WoW healing varied from a snoozefest to OMG I need to heal them noooooooww!

I feel the same. Tanking bores me to death. It is just about knowing your rotation and how the fight works. I prefer dynamic reactions to crazy situations and healing is about the only thing that offers that sort of game play. Of course I can only play a healer if I have other options too and this game allows me to make a healer, dps or tank on the same character over time anyway.
You stay sassy!
Not to mention the repair costs... tanks ain't got a good life.
I see a lot of healers and less tanks in my limited experience. I think the healer class is more accessible as well. So I'd say tanks will be more in demand than healers.
But when we speak about dedicated healers and dedicated tanks I'm not so sure.
