My apologies... I thought we were talking about F2P MMORPGs, not MOBAs.
If you are saying that F2P games IN GENERAL are the future (games like Candycrush, and at one time Farmville), and you are NOT referring to MMORPGs, then I will say: whatever the future decides they are going to spend most of their money on, is what will stick, but when it comes to MMORPGs, it's the subscription model that will win out.
You didn't ask them to provide a list of ftp games that had the same number of concurrent players as the top sub games. You asked them to show you the ftp games that started as ftp and were still viable today. They have done that. Quit changing the goal posts.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.
Guess what OP? Subscription games are going to be the ones to outlast the rest. Need a little proof? Check out EQ... 15 years on, and still kicking. In that same time period, how many true F2P/cash-shop/P2W games have come up and bit the dust?
If you think that F2P games are the future, look down at your udders, cause you are the type that those gaming companies like to milk.
Doesn't EQ have a f2p option ? and really how many f2p games have shut down at all ? Can you name even one. I can think of 4 or 5 big name titles that where p2p that have... maybe it's just because it's 4 am but I actually can't come up with a single f2p title that's shut down.
Earth Eternal was one, though you could argue it never really "launched" being it went down while still in the Open beta phase.
I just paid them 90 bucks for some cool items they sold in the cash shop at a super cheap discount which turned out to be their last ditch efforts to keep funding the game before closing.

Do not bother because there is no point he hasn't come here with proof or with an open mind. Like many P2P-only players he equates quality to a sub only option and refuses to see what is right in front of his eyes.
I wish him luck in his gaming but considering the trend it is only really a matter of time before he stops playing MMOs altogether or realizes that F2P isn't what he thinks it is.
Also Seph not every one of the games I mentioned are MOBAs and quite a few of those are ferociously popular and World of Tanks alone (which isn't a MOBA) blows WoW out of the water and War Thunder as well. Vindictus by what I know is a solid earner and I think Navyfield actually predates WoW and is still popular today. I won't get into Neverwinter or any other games as it is late and I really need to hit the hay.
