ESO billing troubles..

But seriously, when you see SO MANY people having billing disputes with this company, why in the world are you rushing to the company's defense?  Because you like the game?  The game is not related to their business acumen and you don't get the volume of billing complaints when you're properly running your business.

For the same reason people join guilds and, even if it's a crappy guild, will defend it to the death... until the first time they get screwed.

For the same reason people join political parties even when the party's agenda isn't really aligned with what they believe in or need.

For the same reason people join clubs and organizations with which they have nothing in common...

...and sometimes for the same reason people get married.

People have a desire to "belong".

We're omnivores, not carnivores.  We're pack animals.  We're sometimes even herd beasts.  When threatened, we form a circle facing outwards with our tails between our legs and hope some other member of the flock gets eaten first.

Everyone with a clue knew it was a cash grab from jump street. The excuses for all the problems are hilarious.

Theyre hoping they can get a few people to pay twice (or at least an extra month) who dont pay attention.

I played every sub based game prior to SWOTOR and this one, I dont ever remember having cards charged anything, including a verification amount before the sub time that came with the game expired. Yes you did have to enter a card number, either a credit/debit card but they were for reference only.

Going to be interesting when the first week of May comes around. But really the sympathy level for people who dont like this game or are feeling taken advantage of is pretty low, because there was MORE than ample warning about this game/company long before it was released. On all fronts.

Well then you are not observant.  If you put your CC info in, it will try and verify it, always.  But most do $1 dollar not $15 like Bethesda did.  They should have done $1 not $15.  The funny thing is SWTOR got a lot of crap even with the $1 dollar authorization.  So what you said is false, or you have bad memory.

Looking at what they are doing taking a full month for an authorizing check coupled with their shady TOS asking for a 30 day notice to cancel I would not trust ZOS with my credit card. May be some other method where they will not have access to my credit. Game card or some such but in that case you card will be immediately consumed so not a good option either.

I didnt buy Swotor because I knew that game would be F2P just like this one is. SWOTOR still isnt worth playing for free IMO. So I didnt see all that. But for Rift, Warhammer, AOC, Lotro I never saw a dime come out of my accounts. Until after the time was used up. More than likely because I bought all of them digitally and they had the account information already and knew the card was valid.

I just know that ZoS is charging the full amount on cards for whatever sub you sign up for. So if you take a 6 month one its 77.94 coming out. Or whatever that sub is. so guys only signing up for 30 days and having 15 hijacked should feel lucky. Also there are reports that some people have been full on charged (not just a verification) for some funds.

Theyre are so many problems in the billing department it has to be a joke. first people getting charged, then having the money come out but not being able to play because of an address issue. So they take the money, start the 30 day free time counting and lock an account because of an address discrepancy? LOL.

Like I said I love looking at the official forums and watching the pages count climb in their customer Support section. Game hasnt been out  two weeks yet and there are almost 150 pages of complaints/problems. @ 35 topics a page its closing in on 5000 complaints. Quite a milestone.

I wanted to give this a game a try, but things now seem so shady it makes me not want to risk it.

it doesn't help that mmoprg.com seems to want to help hush everything up by quietly locking ever thread on this topic. I wonder how much they being paid to help with damage control.

Rift, Aion, FFXIV, Tera and pretty much every subscription MMO at launch has done a $1 dollar charge.  It is not permanent it is temporary.  I like that you back peddled your way out of what you said for SWTOR, but what are you going to do now?  The $1 dollar hold is the norm, the $15 dollars is not.  Regardless, it is a temp hold.  They will not charge you for something they shouldn't they are not stupid, they have a 20 year legacy to without with their company.  And they are swimming in cash to worry about a one month subscription fee.

You are extremely good and name calling, blowing things out of proportion and tin foil hatting.  Am I missing something?  Oh right, the sky is also falling.

The is the first I have heard of it being "$250 million" the rumor couple of months ago was $200 million.  Did you just inflate the number and the rumor at the same time?  Remember SWTOR's $300 million rumor which ended up false?

Are you still pumping Defiance by the way?

LOL, then why did they make an MMO? They didnt have to make one. They probably shouldnt have. But they wanted to capitalize on the the ESO brand. This game was probably on the drawing board 7 or 8 years ago when MMOs were the rage. But it took them forever to release it and I am sure they felt pressure to do so. its obvious they werent close to ready on any level. So they have a game that probably should have been released prior to 2010 getting released in 2014 with all the MMO problems a well as complete inability to know HOW to run an MMO business model.

If this game sold the numbers that have been projected I bet they lost money on it. I doubt we ever get the full numbers (because theyre just that bad) but I would put the amount of individual game sales at below a million. Probably even less than 750K. That wont pay for it, so you better eb sure they will want as many subs for as long as they can get them. But they know their big pay day will be free to play. IF (and its a big if) they can get the game running properly at all.

But that is the irony, BECAUSE there were far less players than anticipated the performance didnt suffer nearly as much as it could have. I would almost be willing ot bet there were more people online during those stress test weekends than there are now.

Either way, they made a game ot make money. They will do all they can to make as much money as they can from it. End of story. It is plain theyre running a business (not very well) but a business nonetheless. So for people to always throw that "they dont need your money" card just shows how naive that person really is. If they didnt want our money they wouldnt have made the game or emailed us a dozen times begging for us to pre order the thing.
