Hey guys I just want to know if Melee gets viable later on in PvP, or it will suck and you will get killed by range?

This thread was rolling just a week ago.

Short answer - Yes and depends on your playstyle.

Long answer - If you stand in a zerg with 50+ vs 50+ no, you will be ranged down if you try to run up to the enemy zerg. Your style will dictate if mele is viable. If attacking a keep or tower and you guard the postern doors and roads mele kills, if you are standing infront of a keep with 40 people on the wall ranging down better have a ranged weapon. If you work in a small group and flank around a zerg  you can mele the crap out of ESO.

When zerging a keep I always go behind the keep and watch the road I expect people to take to reinforce the keep. You will find quite a few alliance members doing the same thing. Sometimes I don't have guild members on to rez incase I die at those times I'll just range the defenders on the wall.

Zerg vs Zerg fights you'll see many organized small groups on boths sides sneaking around waiting to get the jump on somebody.

Organized large groups are starting to figure stuff out and close AOE/Mele styles are forming.

From everything I've watched and read, it is viable in the respect that it does a ton of damage and you can really mess people up.  However, you may have also read or seen things talking about how popular bow and ranged builds are.  In the type of warfare typically happening in ESO's PVP system, being in the front lines will give you a way bigger chance of being killed.  Play-style is important but I'd even add in there that your group compositions and making sure you have some pocket healers is going to make a huge difference.  Again, they can do fantastic damage, it's all about surviving and applying it.

Every playstyle is very viable.  There are many, many, many more playstyles than just ranged vs. melee like in other games.

I would say the only playstyle that isn't viable is a build with no damage and no survivability.

Melee is certainly viable.  Everyone can sneak, not just rogues, so you can easily get close to ranged targets. You also have access to multiple gap closers and crowd control abilities.   The only issue would be during sieges against keeps, though you will still have ranged class abilities, and you could always set up a siege weapon.
