We have also Xfire numbers. Either some like it or not it tracks some million of ppl playing hours. When SWTOR & GW2 released they were in top 5 for long. Now they are at positions 13 & 9. ESO started at 16 and dropped to 22 position only a week after release and keeps dropping. I don't say xfire show total numbers etc or its 100% accurate but it takes a huge amount of players hours. Its not random that you see CoD, LoL, D3, WoW in the top 5.

So either the box sales numbers are much lower than you think, or ESO players are the only ones who dont use Xfire.

Btw just talking, i dont want to insult you or anyone :)

    http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Video-Games-PC-Hardware/zgbs/videogames/229575/ref=zg_bs_nav_vg_1_vg

ESO is first, even though unlike most games the different editions are broken out separately.  Now before anyone brings up the three games ahead of it, they were on sales for a while for .99 to 4.99 so it was higher.

Xfire has decreased in terms of usage over the years and isn't a valid source.  If anything use Raptr, and your argument would hold more weight.

A game like WildStar will struggle to sell.  Even with all the hype and Pax coverage, it isn't even in the top 50.  ESO has a big name IP which helps it a lot.

Even if xfire numbers have less weight than Raptr, it stil measures some million of ppl playing hours. It shows a trend and thats why those games i mentioned before are in top 5. ESO on the other hand started at 16 and dropped to 22 already. This also shows a lot.

Btw I dont get why you always get wildstar in the conversation. As i said before, despite i like wildstar more than eso, i ll be very very happy if they are able to sell 1m copies. Not keep 1m subs after the free month, but 1m boxes at release.

That is completely wrong.  GW2's sample in Xfire for example is based on 722 players.  Xfire is something people don't use anymore.  You need to move over to Raptr which actually has a sample of 30+ million players.  Not a few thousand like Xfire.

It's entertainment, just like music. It's like voting for who's the best metal band. Do I really care?

4+ million hits and only 2 weeks into launch?  It is shocking.

Yeah 4 million people have time to read articles but not take  few secs to cast a vote for the game they love so much. I love your logic.

People also huddle in front of televisions to watch car wrecks. So ESO could be popular for all the wrong reasons.

4 million hits vs 180 votes. That should tell you something. That also for a game which is supossed to have 10 million subs by end of the year. lol

And i know mmorpg.com only represents few thousand MMO players but still it is very popular site and even if we just look at it for sake of sampling. ESO so far has the most pathetic amount of votes and player feedback. Its Elder Scroll ffs...it should have taken sites like these by storm in 2 weeks..and what we get? 180 votes.

People using this site just didn't bother playing?  180 votes total is very low. Perhaps the obscurity of TESO is why the rating score is so influenced lowly.

I guess the argument will be that ES people don't frequent MMORPG.com.

Fans of ES never heard of MMORPG.com, so that is a good argument.  They likely never heard of MMORPG's in general too.

Dude you are trying way too hard.  Your history shows you have a history of jumping on the hater train.  After seeing a few post about how you've been at bashing ESO for awhile i looked at your history.  Sure enough for almost two years you created threads  in attempts to bash Swtor.  So does this mean we can look forward to you create threads in attempts to bashing eso for a couple years?  Do you even play eso?

As for your comment about eso players don't know about mmorpg, no the truth is about 1% of mmorpg players come to sites like this because of posters like you who spend their time hating video games and posting threads they mean absolutely nothing .

Discrediting his argument by attacking him and then not bothering to read the post where he said he plays?

With around 50-60 million players around 1% is around 600k or in translation: enough of a sample size to incorporate TESO players on both sides of the line as you so eloquently demonstrated.

Just an FYI, the last time I voted, the score was 8.54. Now, it is 8.38. A .16 drop so I'm curious on the post of the raters who put their ratings on the game recently so I looked up their profile.

    1. Meerkat. His first post since creating the account back in 2007 and he wasted it. Played only the beta.

    2. Graylen. Played one hour of the game during beta before quitting.

    3. ZigZags. He has posted more than the other two so I digged further. Turns out he is expecting PvP to be open in all areas (possibly ganking lower levels), and negative post about other games in general except for WoW and except for one post regarding GW1 (picked sample posts).

TL;DR User ratings are very random. Play the game to actually get a feel of the game.

This is actually not very good at all.  I knew when it debuted at around and 8.6-8.7 they were in trouble.  Usually a new big title MMO enters the rankings on top in the 9.0-9.2 range and very slowly drops down.  I'm also not surprised at the sudden drop.  People are already fleeing this game in droves.  Zone chats are quiet, group finders rarely if ever pop, and the game still has numerous bugs that the development team seems to be in no real hurry to fix.   It all smacks of a real lack of leadership.  This one's in real trouble folks.

Until the first adventure zone hits Meerkat's opinion is valid as the beta is pretty much the retail version, your opinion on his opinion is irrelevant.

Graylen could be discounted though no reason why he played only an hour? Compatibility issues? Dislike of combat? nothing?

Zigzags you assume means open world pvp = ganking lower levels which is quaint. No mention if he did or did not play the game... interesting.

I don't think you can assess a games rating after 2 weeks, come back in 6 months.

Oh no! It slipped in a self selecting poll. Meanwhile, it's still on top in popularity, meaning more people are clicking on things related to it than any other game.

I have a question. Who is winning the Super Bowl this  coming year?  People always trying to predict things when they have no clue.

Anyways. I guess I better cancel my sub. This game is doomed.

Too much double standards going on in this topic. If ESO had top scores on sites like mmorpg.com or metacritic. People would be holding those scores to prove their point.

But ofcourse scores are only manipulated and are nothing but scores by trolls.. if they are not on top. Such is the logic of these forums.

Positive scores = people with integrity and fair.

Negative = trolls and not paid enough.

There i summed up the whole topic.

The same ofc goes to fanboys giving 10 to every aspect of the game, or even those review "experts" who gives 9/10 in every new AAA tittle.

I for example say for myself i don't like ESO. I don't like it because of its combat, skill animations and character movement. The PvP content also its not of my taste and for PvE i like WoW, Rift etc style Raiding. That's all.

I m not saying i don't like it because its a 1/10 game. Ofc it isn't, as most of the games are also not. It has its pros and cons. The problem is that ESO pros are not what i m looking in a mmo.

On the other side i prefer Wildstar. Not because its a 10/10 game, but because its pros are what i m seeking to find in a mmo. In an overall comparison it may be even worse than ESO but again i don't care, as long its pros are closer to my tastes.

This ofc applies to every game comparison and not only to WS vs ESO.

So imo, reviews & numbers either from trolls / fanboys or review "experts" are just pointless.

Btw i dont feel the need to read a review to judge a game. i m old enough and playing mmo's more than 15 years, in order to be either excited or disappointed by a third person opinion. Its like music. When i hear something and sounds great in my ears, i don't care about the singer, the genre or others opinion. I just like it :)

Umm he never said anything about those who cared. You are reading what isn't even there. But he is right lets not make claims on behalf of what ESO fans may or many not think because we don't know. Because you certainly don't speak for me and yes i did vote for ESO on this site and i gave it 8.0. So there ESO fans do care to vote.

I did not go into detail, but to argue some of your points and to answer some, here are their posts:

The trailer is not indicative of the game experience and that makes me sad.

Expecting the trailer to be the game and you're going to tell me he's expecting the end game content?

Aye and I think it's the most ridiculous thing ever. I hate to jump the gun, but I am guessing it's staunch Wild star fanboys who just want the game to fail. You should humor yourself and read some of the illegitimate comments made about the game. One dude said it wasn't even an MMORPG lol. Pure ignorance. This game is easily the best MMORPG experience out there, and has set a high bar for other games to reach in the future.
