You got to 50 and the only thing you can say about it: "its like wow"? /facepalm

  • ReklawReklaw Member UncommonPosts: 6,495

    OP where is the review?

Sorry but what I read could have been written by anyone who might not even have played Wildstar.

Here is the thing though. WoW is pretty much horrible now. My guess is that a lot of WoW players will want to play Wildstar because they want that vanilla WoW feeling again. So why not  ?  Why keep giving your subscriptions to Blizzard when they keep on doing the same thing over and over and over and over... Wildstar may look and feel a lot like WOW but so much of Wildstar is so different. I learned a lot about Wildstar today that I liked, namely the nice crafting system they have.

TBH, the game is pretty much a copy of WoW except for its combat system.

It is not because WoW is popular and so I compare them both.

It is because the game developers of WS are actually from WoW dev team and some of them decided to depart from WoW and join NCsoft.

Graphic wise, gamestory, and even the factions are just like WoW. It is at least 80% of the game contents are pretty much somewhat just like WoW.

What really differentiates WS from WoW is its combat system, but if you are a PVE heavy player, you can hardly experience the difference because mobs are gonna stand there and fight you.

Dont get me wrong, I did enjoy my time playing WS, I mean who doesnt since it is so much alike WoW.

PVP wise, in big group fights, it is a little messed up because the entire combat system is so called "skill based AOE". If you live far from the server, you probably wont be able to dodge anything.

It is hard to judge the game just by one person and so I would highly you go try the game out yourself before purchasing it.

Last but not least, to rate the game:

Overall I would give it an 8/10 but originality wise, it is 4/10.

Thank you and pelase leave your comments

Thanks for your review it really helps. Can you comment more on the lore and story? Is it mostly worse or better then WoW?

I think you guys just named off all the things WoW should have developed into their game after launch.   But with the core systems of the game what is different then WoW?    The dungeons the same?  The Quests the same?

At its heart would you say its a WoW game and around its heart is a body of things that WoW should have added to their game, which might have been a reason WoW developers left WoW in order to be able to do these things?

Who cares if its a wow clone or wow 2.0 or whatever? i played beta and its a high quality game, FULL of content, some new nice ideas and some things many ppl missing from the past. So as long as i m having fun i dont really give a damn if this game is a wow 2.0 or a clone. Same thing ofc applies to every new game, not only WildStar. I for example dont like ESO or SWTOR not because they are clones of another game, but because i just dont like them (not saying they are bad games though). So simple.

Well considering the RPG was really missing from WoW...   it should matter.   Sure there is a lot of stuff to do, but where is the RPG at in this game?    Is it just a cartoon character bouncing around and selling action in an MMO instead of RPG?

There's plenty of RPG in WoW... people who like the lore of the game will rave on about it and their accomplishments.

There's plenty of RPG in Wildstar too.. my friend couldn't stop laughing at some of the story stuff.

Personally I find it amusing.. but not particularly care about the lore that much. It'll probably grow on me though.

Oh oh, it's happening again. The total and utter support for one game that isn't doing all that well is now twisting into a need to hate another game.

So this MMO is like an MMO. Thanks for that OP, i'd never have guessed.

What you just described is slap stick RPG.  I guess I was expecting something more along the lines of Bravestar cartoon, AD&D cartoon, Galtar,  Bionic Six,   maybe Silver Hawks, or Thunder Cats kind of RPG,  not some TMNT, Inspector Gadget or Rocky and Bullwinkle kind of RPG.

I just wanted to also add, you remember when WoW first launched and they had that really cool Cinematic.  Then you get in game and its not even close to the Cinematic, its that cinematic I wanted.   How could they get the RPG right in Cinematics but fail so hard inside the game to deliver that vision of the opening scene.    I think LOTRO is the only one who lived up to its RPG of its cinematic intro.

TESO is a great example of the type of RPG level I would expect from games.

  • cheyanecheyane Member LegendaryPosts: 9,407

Really Knotwood I would have expected better from you.  Taking stabs at Wildstar is understandable I guess.

Point of fact World of Warcraft has amazing lore .You should go read the lore it is fascinating and fun and when you come across key figures in game it is thrilling.

I find Wildstar like a game one can spend time reading lore and learning about a whole new setting. It is like reading a new fantasy or steampunk novel.

Tell me more how the TESO cinematic resembles what you actually see in the game.

Someone hand this guy an award RIGHT NOW!

World of Warcraft is not near the core of the game anymore. I played Classic to death. Played on and off through all expansions. Now, I just hate to login to the game. I havent subbed for 5 months now. I just cant stand how the game has become.

But after trying last beta I got excited, cant wait to try again. I might end up subbing, for the fact that it gives me the WoW classic feeling.

Blizzard devs don't know how to fix their game anymore.

I posted this on another thread but it rings true here.

I think they took everything Great about WoW and tweaked it.. made it better, changed the skin and added a lot of new Goodies.

Ask any Vanilla WoW Player, what was the best part of Vanilla Wow.. One answer.. The raiding.

I think Wildstar is going to be Vanilla WoW Raiding on Steroids. With the mentality that Only the Strong Survive.

And that makes your opinion obsolete.

Blizzard has worked hard on making WoW worse the last few years. You could try it yourself. Really went off hill from Cataclysm and since just got worse.

Gotta say, seems like a wildly inaccurate review.  You seriously played to level 50?  I could spend time picking it all apart, but "ain't no-one got time for dat!"

Game content wise there are obviously plenty of differences (and similarities, sure), but the thing I will pick out of all of this is: the factions are the same?  How so?  It's not the same races, humans are on both sides, even the dispositions/alignments are totally different.  For example, in WoW, neither the Alliance nor the Horde are inherently evil.  They are just... different... but you cannot peg either faction as one way or the other.  Whereas, the Exiles are trying to escape, survive and live their lives while the Dominion who has been conquering the galaxy for the last 2000 years and are basically the equivalent of space-Nazis.  In other words, the Dominion are clearly evil.  WoW= no good vs. bad - WildStar= clearly good vs. bad.

Again, there is a lot more I could pick apart, but I chose that for my little example of how wrong the assessment is.  Not a very open-minded nor analytic review at all.

    To the OP,
Let me start by saying,While everyone has a right to their opinion, I don't agree with yours.

Looking back at your 7 posts, you do nothing but rip one game after another. So honestly don't put much stock in your review but thanks for taking the time.

I saw this, as well.  Some WoW fanboys will never grow up.

My favorite part about this post (aside from the first three posts- those were classic anti-troll points) is this:

The OP hit and run.  He came in, made the obligatory "This MMO is nothing more than WoW" post to fan the fire, and has not returned since.  If the OP really cared about our thoughts and comments on this game, he'd be interacting somewhere in the 5 pages in his thread.  He hasn't returned.

He's just another WoW troll sent from the many legions to flame a game that isn't their own.  What a life!

"if was going to spend cash on a game it would be WoD simply because

wow does it 100% better sorry buts its the truth and its 2 to 3 years since

i played wow."  That's not a truth, that's an opinion. People that spout opinions as truths are really in no position to do either, nor should they be regarded by those with the sagacity to differentiate the two.

Some people prefer the Rock/Paper/Scissor stationary combat of WoW.  It's just easier because they've played that game for a while, and to grow and change is hard for many human beings to do.

interesting review, but you state dungeons are bland and you just stand there? Another revew I saw and read said that is what hooked him... how dungeons/bosses are unique, and you have to actively fight.
