This, of course, is never practical since people can keep making new accounts.
By that logic it isn't worth banning accounts to begin with.
It isn't ... although that does not prevent people from trying. In fact, the existence of this thread itself is proof of the futility of the practice.
On mmorpg every game is a failure. Even wow is a failure. Diablo 3 is almost a good game. If a game is p2p it sucks. If a game is f2p it is p2w(although this is usually true they do have that one dead to rights.) Along time ago the site used to be pretty spot on with reviews and you could get a feel for things. Now you got to wonder how many companies have people employed for the soul purpose of boosting or tearing into another game's reputation/score/mechanics. Heck microsoft tried to do it when they announced xbox would charge a fee to bring a game to a friend's house. In short..... If you want an honest opinion play the game yourself. If you need someone to tell you how good a game is or constant validation that your game is the right one you may want to phone the dr phil show.

I agree with you OP, this site has so many haters just trolling away. I personally hate when people do nothing but bash a game. Sure I understand that not everyone likes a game and I get once a game launches that there is gonna be "reviews" when people are gonna be disapointed or happy with thier new game.
I also get that people should have a say if they don't like the game and point out why.
I just don't like people starting a thread like "World of warcraft is P2W" or "people who like eldar scrolls are idiots" well you know what my point is, people that are just trying to upset people for the fun of it, trolling.
Otherwise I think that sure everyone should have a chance to say what they don't like and what they like. If anyone doesn't say anything negative about a game then how could the developers make their game better?
I also get that you defend your game cause it's easy to get upset with all the trollers and I often find myself trolling right back at them, wish I didn't but hey I am not the quite guy. I have been given to warnings for trolling myself and I try not to do it at all anymore. (one time for a video on mortal online that I thought was a joke and I wrote something stupid).
And it's easy to say that it's fun with trolling and sure sometimes it is, I love it sometimes but the thing to understand is that a large percentage of people online just don't like it at all and I think they should be the ones that are spared.

Both extremes are bad. The fanbois that take offense anytime something negative is said about their "sacred" game are bad. But so are the old time jaded vets that hate every MMO that is released. The belittle anyone who likes said games and somehow feel that being a "hater" makes the cool. So I can understand what the OP is upset about. Hell, there was a post not so long ago on this very site where one of this haters posted he hated all MMOs released on the past five years, doesn't play MMOs anymore and pretty much thinks everyone who currently play MMOs are responsible for the downfall of the genre. Yet, they still visit this site and have over 2k posts...

Yeah the best you can hope for is they get bored of creating new accounts and just give up.

Some people don't like that seals are clubbed to death in some countries as a sport. Well...they don't own those seal. They are not seals. They don't interact with those seals.
So why are they whining about it?
For the same reason (reason being "it's something we disagree with") MMO gamers try to change something from something they don't like (free loot, seal clubbing) into something they do like (free seals, clubbing for loot).
Not a very good reason to meddle in others' fun. Not to mention it is most likely futile.

So you didn't figure out what what the "hater" is trying to accomplish is to get those who he believes brought about the downfall of the genre to leave it? Actually sort of rational when you think about it, even if not necessarily achievable.

Not everyone who uses the internet is logical, emotionally balanced or sane. If they were, the internet wouldn't be as entertaining
Very true, but that's why i have popcorn.
Also, an even funnier part is when fans complain about trolls and haters, but just respond to their threads anyway. I've seen over and over again with every launch.
- Make a thread posting something funny or interesting you find the game, video, pic, anything.
- Thread gets 2 pages max
- Make a thread posting either an obvious flamebate, or even just critic the game alittle.
- Thread gets swarms of fanboys to defend it and goes beyond 100 posts easy. Even funnier is that people who post on a rare basis will more likely comment on that one instead.
Truth is, it's the fans who are responsible for all the negativity on these, and any forums, since it's them who keep attacking, responding and not letting go. But then, they don't actually like to discuss their own game.
Fortunatly, it's all great entertainment, specially at launches.
So you didn't figure out what what the "hater" is trying to accomplish is to get those who he believes brought about the downfall of the genre to leave it? Actually sort of rational when you think about it, even if not necessarily achievable.
nah .. that is silly. Few changes their minds, or stop playing games just because someone say so over the internet.

I doubt the haters are that naive.
They aren't. Again, MMORPG.com has become the home of the jaded I-hate-every-new-MMO veteran MMO players. I get more laughs out of this crowd than I do out of the fanbois...

I have a question.
How does WoW fans ruin other new MMOs? I dont understand that.
And what does WoW have to do with new MMOs?
And how are new MMOs trying to appeal to the things people liked about older MMOs?
