It looks like people on these forums are happy with the game.
According to this poll:
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/410099/page/1
69.6%, or roughly 70%, have voted that they are going to subscribe.
I guess Zenimax is keeping people happy

Indeed, 45%. Which on these forums is amazing. Hell, 20% would be a win around here.

So...9% less then what it is now means it's a loss then?
This looks like a job for....The Riviera Kid!
Okay, but that "pole" better come with a dancer anyway.
Yes, indeed math is so hard for you guys.
When I took the poll from about 15 minutes there were:
Total votes: 1092
% of total people who haven't bought the game from the 3 options: 35.5%
Total number of people who havent bought the game: 35.5% x 1092 = 387.66 = > people who bought game = 1092 - 387.66 = 704.34
Total number of people who have voted as yes from total number = 44.9% x 1092 = 490.3
So 490.3 as a % of 704.34 (people who bought the game) => 69.6%

45% of the people who visit mmorpg.com and voted on that poll are going to resub.
That means eso will keep 70% of its player base ... makes sense.
On a more serious note: Zenimax didn't even announce how many boxes they sold so I would be surprised if they released data about the retention rate.
It will probably be swtor all over with announcements that the retention rate is a very difficult math formula and so they can't release any numbers to the public.
So 700 players out of the 300,000 that bought the game...Yep that .002% of players that cast their vote surely represent the majority...lol. Most being TES fans who are very disappointed that its not TES.
"Ooh yeah and your poll is HORRIBLE. I mean super ultra mega horrible. Was it so hard to make a poll with two options? Yes, I will sub. No - I will not. Why are there so many options. Really unprofessional and bordering to useless. You have also phrased the options terribly. "
The above was the description you gave to the very same poll you are now creating a thread to support the results. Does the whiplash hurt ?
It's amusing how after my math was wrong, we move straight to this. So now that we have established that my "math" is correct and you just overlooked the stats lets move on to this. I didn't say this is representative. I said according to that poll, 70% will sub. Polling are never done on the whole population. Still I agree the sample size is fairly small to get a good understanding.
I posted this thread to educate people how to read the poll cause that poll was just bad. And judging by the first few comments to my thread, I was correct, people misread even the basic stats.
OOh snap, I was so trying to hide this. Ooh wait!
I just wanted to educate people how to read the poll.

lol. That is pretty funny. He's using a borderline useless poll, according to him, to try and prop up a game he likes while inflating the numbers to boot.
So much win with one post.

I still think the poll was useless.
Can you please explain to me how my numbers are inflated?

No, but I think Knotwood still claimed that in the thread somewhere.
I think a lot of people have the thread you're talking about bookmarked though. Skyrim sold 20 million, so ESO will have 10 million subs by the end of the year. It was pretty awesome.
Didn't the game sell over a million boxes already? If it's somewhere around that this sample size is entirely too small. Also this is about as directed and not at all a random sample.
Thus after you are done arguing about what the number should be, know that this is the worst survey and whatever number you come up with is completely worthless and not representative of anything that will happen after the included 30 days are over.

Haha, I remember this thread. I spilt my coffee over my laptop and had to spend 5 minutes cleaning it -_-

Yes you did say it represented the whole. Read the title of your thread. 70% of ESO players will resub. Not 70% of players who bought the game on MMORPG will resub which will all know the average player doesnt come here to cast votes on game, the average being the majority of gamers.
Yes of course 28.6 %
Give a month 8.3 %
Already resubbed 7.9 %
That totals 44.8 or around 45 %. How did you get 70% ?
Can you please explain to me how your numbers AREN'T useless?

I know what my title says. That's just what newspapers and articles use to draw attention. I never commented on the validity of the poll in my original post. I just said according to this poll, 70% will subscribe. Nothing more, nothing less.
But if you want to know my opinion, I think the poll is a useless mess.
Okay so you can't explain why you made that statement that I inflated the numbers.
So now my numbers are useless? I agree with that. I am just stating the results of the poll. But I agree that the numbers are useless because the poll was a mess and still had a small sample size.

Does that include numbers for those that got charged for a sub before their first month was up?
J/K
Well, not really.
*Bob and weaves around the ban hammer*
Only 70% are going to re-sub? Gee, imagine if all 100% re-subbed - they'd have 35 million subscribers instead of the 10-20 million, right?
/Sarcasm
He excluded the people who haven't actually purchased the game, yet still voted ("I still haven't bought the game" and "Waiting for F2P").
