Question about staff damage.

So far through play it seems that staff damage scales with stamina.  Does anyone know if passives likes juggernaut from the heavy armor line affect staff damage?  I know that dragon knight molten weapon skill raises restoration staff damage.  I am trying to maximize auto attack damage while also maximizing the heal from the resto staff heavy attack.

1st question, does staff damage really scale with stamina?

Yes the normal (light & heavy) attacks of all weapons scale with stamina, but no skills like Juggernaut do not impact it as they are considered ranged attacks, not melee. Similarly the  crit bonus racial for Khajiit also would not apply to a staff or bow.

Thanks for the info. Seems odd that it scales with stamina but doesnt work on weapon crit.  Very odd.

Staff *skills* however scale with magica.

As  resto/destro fire DK - I don't bother with stamina at all - resto staff auto attack DMG by itself will always be far behind other weapons, so IMO OP its a losing battle.

Much easier to weapon switch and do some DMG, then when you need bubble/healing switch to resto, and use your DK skills.

My personal opinion - put all points into HP no matter what class, no matter what build.

Magica/stam can always be made up via armor/regen and point into HP gives more than magica / stamina.

I see what you are saying, but why cant someone upgrade hp instead of mag and stam? I mean i cant upgrade the same way, just in a diff order!!

I find it easy to keep magicka and stamina both near soft cap so I do not worry about scaling staff damage. Resto staff is said to have the lowest damage of weapons but with full health and the Cycle of Life passive it's heavy attack is decent. I've tested rotations using Recount addon and it is easily worth using in rotation as a filler especially with dots going on top as well.

I am play a NB caster build but also use Silver Shards in my damage rotation for a stam alternate to save and allow magicka time to regen. It prolongs magicka use a great deal. I wear 5 light and 3 medium armor and make sure I keep some stam on gear as it is used a ton even without stam skills. It also scales my resto staff heavy damage and Silver Shards keeping the damage worthy of rotation along side spells.

ESO allows even pure caster builds to easily soft cap stam or keep it high so why the hell not?

    You stay sassy!

I think we will have so many weird combos, makes the game better!!!

The resto staff heavy attack restores mana as well so I plan to try and make a build that maximizes it.  When one heavy attack deals damage, gives you mana, and heals someone, why wouldnt you use it.  Since it also heals based upon the damage dealt, that gives you another reason to make sure it hits hard.

When I design characters I like to pick some kind of theme and go with it.  This character is an Argonian dragon knight and I am trying to create a melee healing build with it.  I want to be up in the fight healing those near me so I went resto staff and heavy armor, with 2 lights.  So far for skills I am using two resto staffs, with one bar being for buffs igneous weapon and spiked armor and everything else being the same as the 1st bar,  burning embers, healing springs, rapid regen, standard of might.

I like having a lot of passives.  I love how argonians get increased self healing and when you tack on the healing boost from burning heart while having spiked armor up, and the added self healing of burning embers, you end up with a lot of self healing.  I am just trying to find more ways to increase the effectiveness of the resto staff heavy attack to bring even more healing.

Eventually I want to add inhale and force siphon to add more self healing and healing support.
