If you'd read the patch notes you would have seen they are going to put dungeon bosses on a timer as regards picking loot up from them, and they cite this action as a response to player feedback.

All it would take is one person watching chat and instant-banning gold spammers to make it stop.  I've played another game where they did it and it worked.  It might take a little more effort to catch botters, but I don't agree that changing loot timers is an effective method of stopping them.

If the boss mobs are put on a loot timer, it's a huge step in the right direction. Iit means instead of standing there killing the boss every 60 seconds and looting it they would only be able to get the loot drop once per X hours.  I'd say that's a significant discouragement to people farming in order to get mats to get gold.

Note this is not a timer on the boss SPAWNING, it's a timer on how often the boss can be LOOTED.

Is this an individual timer or global? Meaning, my first run into dungeon I miss the timer and do not get loot? Individual makes sense, I explore for first time kill boss and get loot, leave. Might be more complex on the programming side?

Just keep reporting them...  And stop buying stuff from them..

Zenimax needs to add better authentication services, preventing accounts from being hacked... So they can not be abused to spam...

Agreed, it's just about ridiculous to not have 2-factor authentication in 2014.

Right now the spammers are probably focusing their efforts on the low-level zones, because that's where the majority of the playerbase is. They advertise where the most potential customers are.

These lower level players are the ones that are most likely to buy gold illegally, because they might fear being "left behind" as the powerlevelers race to V10. As the average population moves to higher levels, the goldsellers will follow, always making sure that everyone knows they are there to "lend a helping hand" (whilst their bot teams stripmine the nodes you need for crafting mats).

    1. And what insider info do you have that says the devs are not being pro-active?

Groups of bots are killing public dungeon bosses in seconds for what I can only assume is easy XP and loot.

    2. Patch coming with boss loot timers - Problem solved (hopefully)

I'm not against the loot timer.  I just don't think it will fix the problem.  Botters will find something else to bot if their only goal is obtaining loot.

It doesn't look like the accounts being used to spam are hacked.  Every single one I have ignored have used random letters like "ffsdfadas" for the character and account names.

    /Sarcasm on

I could have sworn people just weeks ago where touting the benefits  of a  Sub based MMO over the FTP/BTP MMO precisely because it kept this type of riff-raff out.

Come on people.. this has been an issue in EVERY single MMO game that uses loot to sell for coin for ages.

Put the blame where it belongs..right at the feet of the dev's.

There are many ways to deal with this starting from the company selling gold themselves to take away the option for other to do it and get paid.

To having chat locked for a few lvl's to stop the majority of   the spam.

Every game has ways it deals with it. And that is the issue here.. any company that takes years to make a game should very well have a firm and ready policy at launch. If they do not it should tell you something.

Ok there's a lot of fanboys about and what I'm saying doesn't only apply to ESO so I expect some defensive remarks...

but why don't game publishers think about gold spamming, bots and automated play, before or whilst developing a game?

The same (or similar) tactics are used almost every time in every game.

I just can't believe it's so difficult to prevent the vast majority of these problems as part of the development process.

Why on earth would they put a limit on ignored/blocked accounts?

    No,its Zenimax fault 110%

While shared loot/exp system is there for casual players,it helps goldfarmers even more :/

    terrible system btw.

So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.By Ryan Getchell on April 02, 2014.

There are more bots in GW2 and WoW than here. Why are you haters making such a big deal out of this? All mmos have bots.

Being a fan of  a game is ok, being delusional on the other hand is a totally different issue.

GW2 botting has been curbed to almost inexistance. On WoW there's weekly cleansing but it's still profitable for the rich RMT industry to buy new accounts.

By comparison, ZOS issued random bans to mostly innocent players and the public dungeons now have even more bots that beyond farming the bosses, now also farm the surrounding mobs.

It's not looking good at all.
