I try to write for people who are on the fence buying the game:
/played 96 hours now, 3x lvl 19
What the game offers :
- World 8/10
Tamriel is huge and very detailed. Sure you find many temples, buildings etc, which look like copy paste. I dont mind that, because i think that it´s too much work to build every building by hand. Also in the real world, we have buildings which looks the same. Open dungeons although should have been built with more individualism.
- Graphics 9/10
Astonishing. Some textures could be a bit sharper but hey, for a mmo it looks awesome.
- Gameplay 7/10
- Combat
As i play a dragonknight and first thought i will never ever like this kind of combat, i must admit that i do it now. I love tanking, and i have never tanked in a mmo before. But there are many ways to survive even if your healer is a total newbie. With blocking, dodging and the abilities you have very much is possible. But there is much work to do for ZENI. It isnt running smooth all the time. Sometimes you have lags or you just hit air. That kills the motivation at some point.
- Animations:
Hmm I like them the most time. But that´s another point where ZENI has work to do. There are so many glitches, weired movements etc. that´s killing my immersion in a way.
- Information (HUD etc)
Starting to look bad, turned out to be nice and fresh. I love the minimalistic HUD combined with some Addons which should already been there. Sure with modding many things are possibly but some things should have been made it in the game. You dont see how much stamina/magicka group members have, what buffs are on you etc.. So i could´ve been done better at start, but with addon it´s okay
- Grouping
There are many people complaining about getting lost in different phases. I grouped very often and did not have any issues so i can´t say something about that. The group finder is okay, nothing special, helps to find a group and does this to my satisfaction so...
- Dungeons
Played the first three dungeons and i liked them. Some bosses are quite challenging, let´s see how this develops at higher levels.
- Quests
Yes that´s a 10. Sure there are Kill this and go there and take that, or do this or do that, but that´s what quests are about. You have to do sth, you have to kill sth, you have to talk to someone, that are quests on a high level of abstraction. TESO gives Quests a meaning, they are very deep sometimes, telling funny stories. Yeah i like the, they are better as in Skyrim, from my point of view.
Everything is (very good) voice acted, storylines are interessting;
- Crafting
I do like it, although they could have give you more information about how it works. On the other side i like to find out how something works so i guess it´s okay. but i can understand people who don´t have the time or motivation to go deep into the mechanics.
Crafting matters, you can make the best gear (or one of the best) and it looks awesome (at least if you use the 2nd ressource)
Other Features
- Treasure maps (pictures of the place of the treasure, quite funny)
- Open dungeons (copy paste most of the times, at the end there´s a boss, sometimes challenging, sometimes there are many bots in there and you have to hope that you get a shot on it
Things that should be worked out
- Bots and Gold Sellers
They are just annoying, i hope they get ahead of them soon. They are in open dungeons farming bots, harvesting materials by teleporting from one to another. It sucks. That should be priority
- Bugs
I´m honest i did not had a bug which could not be solved by logging in again. Sure that´s not a very good solution because the immersion gets lost but it´s not something game breaking. I heard people complain about not coming forward in the story quest etc. That´s also something what should have priority
Some bank slots got missing, with all the materials, game breaking for many people.
There are weakly updates and now they changed the server maintance to 2 times/week, so they are working hard on the issue. Only time can tell if Zenimax is able to run a MMO, for now i have a good feeling they are getting on top of it soon.
Conclusion:
TESO is the game which made me feel since my WoW Vanilla days. No game since made me log in for so long. I subbed for 6 month because i think ZENI can get on top of the issues and i will support them. There are many issue which they have to adress. It´s a pretty rough start for them, although it started quite well. But with the bank issue for example they do have people who are pretty mad about the game now.
As I sad, if the can get on top of that issues, TESO could have a promissing future. For people who are on the fence, i would recommend to wait for the first huge patch, which should come in May. If you dont mind the issues, as I do, you can start right away. It´s a great game and it´s my opinion.
P.S.:
On the price.
I bought the physical imp edition an i am glad that i did. But i do think the prices are a bit high, not for the imp edition but for the normal editions. I do like the sub system if they manage to bring bigger content updates every 6 months, that would be enough for me. Since there is so much to do in this game, i pay 12€ a month without thinking considering the money i save not paying for other games (and i dont play F2P games). This game will keep me busy for a long time. It´s the first game which doesnt get boring, no it´s just getting even better and i cant wait to use my next skillpoint or to be a vampire/werewolf, there´s so much to do, and i want to do everything. BUT PLEASE ADRESS THE ISSUES!!!
Please don´t mind my speeling and grammar mistakes. I am no native and i am at work right now so i will not read through it again

I think this is a fair assessment of the game, with a positive spin. Some people are focusing on a few inconvenient parts of the "launch" phase of the game (bugs, downtime, etc.), but overall it's a rather positive experience. If you're a fan of the Elder Scrolls series of games, this iteration holds a lot of fun gameplay. If you're strictly an MMORPG fan, it has some different qualities to the gameplay that you might enjoy. For some, the mechanics of the game might feel awkward. But for others it's a welcome change to the tab-target, spam abilities style of gameplay that has become commonplace in the genre.
As someone who's played about 30-40 hours now, I can say I am enjoying the game. It's not the typical MMO experience, but in a way I'm thankful for that. I enjoyed Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, and I'm enjoying this online story as well. I haven't gotten to the highest level (or anywhere near it), so I can't say anything about the "end game". But what I would say (and people have heard this many times) is to enjoy your time PLAYING the game and not rush to the end. I don't know that I'll be willing to pay a subscription for the end PvP and Adventure Zone content. I think that $15/month might be asking too much for what's being provided in terms of content.
I got the game with a discount code for less than $50, and even if I consider it more like a single-player RPG with 100+ hours of gameplay, I feel like I'm getting my money out of that initial cost. Now, if they had a "DLC" style of content and payment schedule, I'd like that much more. You never know what you're going to get each month, and paying $15 regardless of getting anything in return doesn't seem like a solid plan. Just my 2 copper...
..... This is how I feel.
