Well cr@p.  I hope this doesn't impact the release of future chapters of Deus Ex: The Fall.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

It probably wont effect their operations in the short term. It's just a confirmation that Square Enix is on the downward slope of popularity, which we all knew long before this event transpired.

Edit: Right now there is a generational shift in gaming demographics.  Those of us who primarily use PCs and consoles are on the older end, while those who are focusing more on the mobile gaming scene are the younger generations.   However, us older folks are still out numbering the younger generations of mobile players.  It gets kind of weird looking at these survey numbers.

Actually, it would be cost-prohibitive to remake that game at the next-gen level of visual fidelity. They said it themselves. This of the scope and scale of that game, and then imagine just how much art and would have to be created.

All for a game where everyone knows the ending. If they try and change the game or modernize the story, fans will be outraged.

This has nothing to do with SE, and everything to do with Sony trying to trim it's corporate waistline.  They're spinning off the computer and TV brands as well, for example.

If something happens to SE, it will be due to crappy games, not Sony.  My guess is we'll start seeing more games, possibly even stuff like the much-desired FF7 remake for easy cash flow.

Having 10 percent of your stock sold isn't that big a deal depending on your product pipeline. The stock price dropping would would indicate that the stock/company is undervalued.

That's the time where smart investors buy because they realize that the stock price will right itself and "go up".

However, again, it depends on what Square Enix has in their pipeline.

Quite frankly it seems that that article is really more about Sony.

Actually, it would be a smart move, even if they built it from the ground up.  The game would come with nearly an entire generation of 30+ year old's who would buy it.  Most games would kill for that kind of baseline audience.

You reap what you sow. Square enix has pretty much abandoned it's fans after FFX/FFXI. FFXIV should have heavily parroted FFXI. I would be playing it now. I'v been pretty much dissapointed in every game after FFXI.

    Mismamanment on a huge scale.

Crystal Dynamics had a golden goose in Legacy of Kain. SE ignored it. Eidos Interactive has been a money sink ever since with garbage after garbage.

The company might be OK but it's complete mismanagment of FFXIV has cost it dearly.

There is a whole new generation ready too enjoy it. Just don't spoil the ending for them, even though we know that they would do that on their own.  image

Except that FFXIV is already more popular than FFXI. There's no reason to remake a game when the original is still perfectly playable.

Plus you know, FFXIV is actually good instead of being a grinder with forced grouping. Group up, find grinding spot, grind until XP gain is less than optimal, repeat. Wow, so much fun & depth. And all that with a UI which makes people w/o a controller want to slit their wrists.

FFXI is just as bad as the single player games after VII (IX excluded). FFXIV is the first real FF game the company has produced in a long time, though I do have hope for XV.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

those younger mobile gamers out numbering us by far and i mean BY FAAAAAR, in the future when smart phones hardware becomes more stronger and better games can be played with them i can assure you it will be end of pc and console as we know it (in 10-15 years from now)

about square enix just last night i red post here on mmorpg that FFX mmo realm reborn reached 2 milion subscribers with ps4 release and today sony sold SE stocks. WTH is going on? why would sony sells stock of such profitable company according to the post or was the poster lying?

You have to remember that 14 was a mess on first launch.

They spent  tons of money and time fixing it to get to where they are now.

And as always take any "numbers" about subs, ( even what a sub is is up for debate:P)  with large grain of salt.
