Wildstar needs to change to B2P or F2P ASAP -- before it's too late

You really think Wildstar isn't launching with already fully made plans to work its way into B2P or F2P after getting as much money as it can from boxes and subscriptions? I wish I saved that link to an interview where one of the devs outright states that transitioning into B2P with microtransactions is the most profitable model after the initial period of subscription. Maybe someone can help me here.

Ok this is getting stupid, VGChatz is not reliable at ALL till after official sales data is released. VGChartz are ESTIMATES that they make up and typically have anywhere from a 20 to 60% miss on everything they post. There is a reason sites like neogaf have banned VGChartz from being link or even disucssed because it is not reliabe at all in any sense. They had Xbox One beating PS4 last month, but lowe and behold PS4 comes out ahead by over 60,000 for the month of March, they go back and "update" their numbers all the time when official numbers are released to look better.

Everyone needs to stop quoting or looking at VGChartz.

Keep it unknown, I'll pay double sub fee to keep the grubs out.

Game already has great community, willing to pay sub, why they want suicide and go F2P, I really don't get it...

This game needs to candidly look at itself in the mirror and go Buy to Play , at a minimum, or Free to Play.

It's a decent looking game.  Telegraphing was a stupid idea to mandate, but the whole sci-fantasy theme is very welcome.  Many people will likely play, just not for a monthly fee.

Other stuff like like instanced housing isn't really P2P content, but it is certainly suitable for F2P!

Consider the request Carbine / NCSoft.  It might save your neck with this game (and cover up bad decisions).

I'm going to say it as many others have probably already said it in this thread:     VGChartz cannot and does not track digital orders from the direct game company, let alone some other online retailers.   VGChartz is a website mainly used to report available retailer sales numbers on games sold; usually ending up being physical copies.

So, you understand that it's a non-issue that VGChartz isn't tracking an MMORPG that has most of it's sales from their own website (Wildstar-Online.com) and not from retailers like Gamestop.    I've yet to see Carbine publicly release any pre-order sales numbers from their website available to anyone.

P.S.  Troll less, please.   This game [Wildstar] is by far the most complete, polished, and entertaining MMORPG that I've seen release in over a decade.   It's far more worth it's subscription than other P2P games on the market (or games that have previously launch as P2P but no longer have that model).   The only thing that I can see as hurting it majorly on the market is Guild Wars 2 adding in player housing system; but I don't see that happening any time within the next year.

    OK.

First vgchartz is an estimate - some would say guesstimate. And when I checked earlier today its estimate for FFXIV was off by a factor of 3. )Sony is selling its stake in Square Enix which is why I assume is why the "more than 2M registrations" number has been announced, 500k in the last 6 months. Registrations as in sales not subs.

That said I agree that Wildstar will have a problem as a subscription based game - actually I will rephrase that. I think Wildstar has a problem period.

It is a subscription based game. A business model on which scores of games have now come to grief. Niche games, developed on a shoestring budget aimed at a few 10s of thousands .... they have a chance. Mainstream is littered with failures.

Wildstar also has Destiny to contend with - which the vgchartz estimate has at the top of the pre-order chart. Even if it launches as B2P with paid for DLC it could be in for a rough ride.

Anyway - remember that vgchartz numbers are estimates. They could be over or under.

The only people i know that want to play this game are on the website or right here. I know around 8 people that got in the beta and they all didn't even bother to finish playing it. They all thought it looked silly and gameplay was old school bad. Just saying what i heard about it.
