RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
After reading the press release I get the impression that they will not be using much of the original Warhammer Online - with a release date of 2007 I am guessing this might be a re-design.
Hopefully we will get more details soon!

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
Knowing Mythic, they'll probably strengthen the PvP of Warhammer Online, seeing as how Mythic is best known for its great RvR DAoC system, and of course, they kind of said it in the press release. Overall though, I think it's great for Mythic and for Warhammer Online fans, lets see what they have in store for us.
This doesn't come as a surprise as there was a Warhammer logo featured on Mythic's E3 web blog earlier today. Of course, no one knew what it meant, but I figured they had something cooking up.
"MYTHIC ENTERTAINMENT SECURES WORLD WIDE RIGHTS TO CREATE MMORPG BASED ON GAMES WORKSHOPS WARHAMMER FANTASY WORLD"
Looks like they are going to make a whole new game not improve Warhammer Online. Either way sounds good
I'm all atingle with anticipation...
...and praying that they don't bollocks it up.
I should be happy with this news...
But in facts, I am sad, incredibly sad. Oh well, I am just a selfish gamer, and I doubt that Mythic could make it nicely. It will be a nice RvR game, I have no doubts, but I am jealous, I would have hope for more...oh well, not that bad, great games for others folks.
Enjoy it! With luck, in 2007, I will still be hooked in some nice grouping &/or soloing game!
To Admin: They plan to do gameS based on Warhammer, so they will prolly re-used a big part of already accomplished work here and there. And if their online RvR is not appealing to me(eh, maybe I will be surprised and enjoy it, doubt it, but who know), well, if they do gameS, odds are some others will...and maybe online, maybe offline...who know?
PS: Xbox 360 lose some interest, I assume that Mythic will favorised any non-Microsoft company until I hear something official from it.

SWEET! NOW I actually feel some excitement for Warhammer Online, whereas I had none before.

It should be thrown with great force"
This is awsome news, like a Pheonix riseing from the ashes of its death.
Stop and think about it though. Two years to develop a MMORPG from scratch? I don't think so. I think as time passes and more is made clear, we'll find that Climax, who refused to give up on the project, is continuing what they started. If I remember correctly, it was Games Workshop that pulled the plug on Warhammer Online, presumably to focus their resources on creating the revised Warhammer RPG products.

Being an old PnP fan of warhammer i guess i should be glad, but im actually more dissapointed in games workshop. When i first started following the progress on climax's warhammer online the thing that really gave me hopes was all the great ideas climax had for the the game and not just the Warhammer brand in itself. I can always hope that mythic is just publishing the game for climax but i seriously doubt it them being developers first of all. The reason games workshop didnt want to continue with climax was purely a financial decision, and seing as they are gonna start the whole process again i doubt mythic will be able to make as good a game as climax wanted to make. If mytic is supposed to make the game from scratch again at a lower cost then it would take climax to finish there allmost ready game i think there will be a serious lack of content. If you followed the progress of original warhammer online it seemed to be the engine was all done and most of models and animations were done, so basically what climax needed more time to develop was content in the form of quests, npc's and so on. Climax had visions of content like no other mmo i have played and were probably not given enough support from games workshop both in terms of finances and time so the project as it was got abandoned. Rumors are they are still working on the "original" warhammer online and will release it some day under another name and with sligthly changed lore to avoid legal issues, atleast thats what im hoping. But i fail to see how mythic is gonna be abe to make a better game at lower cost then just letting climax finish what they started and therefore im afraid warhammer online will just be Daoc 2 with changed lore. I do wish mythic the best of luck though cause a brand like warhammer deserves only the best.
Mythic doing WH based MMORPG? GW could nt have made a better decision with this selection!
It just sticks together. It is the dream team!
take away your financial support from a brilliant and well promising game, which is nearly finished!
Spoil thousands of fans with your brand new marketing tricks and strategies... well what can you do next? Select the next company in the MMO market who acts similarly in this business segment and give it the rights.
You must be joking if you think that Mythic has a capacity to at least near 50% of what we got streamed by climax. Perhaps they overpayed some developers from ArenaNet to make them work for them eh?
I, somehow get a feeling that we will end up with a DAOC 2x with some !replace Camelot by Middenheim! in it (unless of course Mythic starts also buying TM from some WH fiction authors to put content to the game and reach the thousands of WH fans around the world. And on the otherside I am sorry but I rather stick to some hardcore tabletop game with some mates (hey this is also a multi player definition now no?) with unofficial and home made rules and simply ignore the "buy me I cost only 15 bucks a month and I got a town called Middenheim and a race called Skaven" alike funny advertisements.
Yes, bash Mythic a game company that has made one of the best, most stable, in superior working condition PvP AND PvE games ever made, making them one of the few MMO developers with only good cred in professional circles and a reputation in the business that even had Microsoft backing down, not to mess with...
And support a company that was working on a game only the most devoted of fans could say was up to par with the rest of the business and the most horrible humanoid models even built except in amateur projects (Credit to them, monsters looked great, 3D program prerenders, not ingame.) And, pretty much had a demo and a lot of words to show after such along time. Long long time...
You go, girl! Me, personally.... think you are unfair and not a little too far out on a broken limb, spewing gall in the wrong direction. I am not trying to change your mind, seeing what you like and do not like, not even divine intervention would make you change your mind... Just think you are unfair and should try to be less biased about things you have little knowledge of.
I like Warhammer. I rather see it made by a group of people that know what they are doing, than a group of people that mostly spend their time talking and showing how things can look in 3D Studio.
"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly.

I do not doubt that Mythic did 1 of the best PvP game. However, DAoC is as much a good PvE game as EQ is a good soloing experience.
(almost) Only PvPers think that the PvE in DAoC is nice. Imperator MAY have a nice PvE setting, and WH is in 2007, so who know, maybe they will make the PvE nice in WH, but I doubt it. They already make a strong RvR stand(acceptable with WH, however a small group PvP would have been more appropriate, yet, it is pretty close, like 1 alignement away, so it can work just fine).

I think this is great news. It's been near 10 years since I first found the whole Warhammer world and for it to be in the hands of Mythic hopefully means something great is on it's way.

ParaTrooper, That guy that used to mod the MMORPG.com forums.
I'm not questioning Mythic's ability to make a good RvR/PvP game. I'm doubting their ability to make a "role-playing" game. RP'ing is what the Warhammer Online community is all about. And the community is the game. Climax is good at making RPGs, take Sudeki for example. Mythic.... they've made a great game called Dark Age of Camelot, which is all about the number of kills you can rack up.
Climax did spend 1000 years working on the game, true. The more time spent on making a game, the better the chance it is any good. Shenmue anyone? And now Mythic promises us a game created in no-time, with lots of "LOl, I pwn'd yous!" PvPers flocking to it.
How great.
DAoC gives you all the tools to RP, but RPing is something that can't be forced on the player base. And of all the PvP games I have played, it has the fewest cool d00d PvPers. There is no cross realm communication (except for a few emotes), so there is no trash talking when you lose.
I generally prefer a PvE game to a PvP game, but the DAoC RvR system has really won me over. I can't wait until they finally release a new RvR based game.

<--- Going insane as I realise that Warhammer Online IS comming back.
Im glad to see this game is coming back fromt eh ashes, as stated,
there was a deep loss felt when the original was cut and canned so abrupt, just as it was starting to shape up in to a moody, gothic word,
I would have like to see what climax could have done with it, however I belive those plans are now in the balance of chance, and we may see there version under a diffrent name in time to come, once they rip out the warhammer and inport there world on to the engine they built.
Unless mystic has secured everything that was already developed then there starting from scratch, and building up, I would be very upset to see a quick slap up and dolled up version of the DAoC engine, sure its good, but the market is developing and this would be a classic game to put a new bench mark in the MMO community,
Once this comes out I WILL be playing, even if I have to cancel my FF XI account and WoW accounts to do it.
COME ON 2007!
(Hey its not that far away come to think of it!)
Dark times are coming!
