My gf got banned for falling through the world, told her to not appeal for ban lift and simply trash ESO and uninstall, i hope she listens.

Zenimax Online has no delicacy and i am glad i didn't buy the game myself, will tell my circle of friends to stay away from this game.

If the Op was simply not being let into the game how does he know that's a ban? If he was told he was banned how come he is saying he received no communication? Riddle me that Dakeru.

-If you read the entire thread- That is answered.

To save you time: He couldnt log into game. No communication. No email. Tried to log into forum and saw "ACCOUNT SUSPENDED" . Again, no email, communication or reason. Then suddenly he gets an email that says "all is good" (essentially) and "oops sorry."

  • ScotScot Member LegendaryPosts: 24,459

Thanks for that, so he was told his account was suspended, but not why. Also he had to hit Support to find out.

Well they should have told him as he tried to log in, but I don't think they need to tell you why you are banned there and then. Otherwise you can notify all your mates who are using the same cheat and they can attempt to appear innocent. If they had not given him an explanation after 48hrs, then again right to complain, but within 24 hours here. Finally if your account is suspended for a day and they find you have done nothing wrong they should give you a day gratis, however they may find what you are doing was questionable, in which case they should not.

They should make these decisions without having to give you an extremely detailed account, it would take too much time otherwise. Unless you get total ban, you should have full details then.

That's how I see it anyway.

From the communication I got over the phone it seems they were suspending any account with items that could possibly be duped without first doing some checking.  Many had items that were sent to them multiple times by Zen themselves, others bought duped items from a guild, pulled them out of a bank, or had copies of quest items they got from quests on alts.  Some of the items were account bound and could not even be duped with the guild bank exploit.

But again no official emails about what triggered individual suspensions, no oops sorry email, no pat on the back with a frownie face, no nothing.  Many did not know they were back in good standing till they tried to log in.

NP- I think it was handled wrong but I really do chalk this one up to a new company being overly aggressive. Doing the wrong thing for the right reason , I suppose.

If I were playing and this happened to me- It wouldnt be something I would quit over (assuming everything else was going well) ut I would bitch for having the day or two of my time lost added to my account . This would, however, make me a bit cautious.

As an isolated incident, this is fairly minor imho. As a 'whole' this seems there is alot going on with this game that would make me uneasy as a subscriber.

Thats my opinion- As someone who doesnt play the game- For what its worth.

    Hardly a long response time.

Same thing happened to me yesterday and while it may have been a short lived temp ban,  the amount of people who were banned wrongfully was pretty high,  just having an item in your inventory that was duped was reason enough for them to ban you and wait for you to email them.

I think they went about and handled the whole thing poorly and should have more communication with their customers on how they are handling situations.    They knew a lot of people were wrongfully banned, and allowed them to think their accounts would be lost.   They also did not make any statement saying that "They know that people were wrongfully banned and working on the situation".

The communication with the players over this was the greatest failure ZOS has made to date, atleast in my eyes.   I had thoughts that possibly I wouldn't be playing again.   It made me think of what game could I play if this is a perma ban situation?    Since there was no Statement from ZOS on it, I thought I really could be finding myself looking for a new game.

In the end they fixed it and all was well in Tamriel.  I just don't like being toyed with.  I like companies to be straight forward and never hidden about crap like this.  I actually was considering EQ Next as my next game to look forward to....     People shouldn't have to get to that point with their games because a company fails to communicate whats happening to them.

I hope if there ever is a next time, they tell us crap and not just ban hammer thousands of innocent players without any word to follow up.  they rightfully are being critizised and it will help that company grow up.   Will I unsub or quit because of it,  no I will not.    Only because I was able to figure out what was going on, on my own by asking others what happened to them.   I'm very happy with this game, its my dream game,  I just don't want to be toyed with and hope there is never ever a next time.

Exactly my feelings,  it was like being dropped in to the middle of the ocean with a million "What ifs" and "whats happenings"  and left to swim 100 miles to shore on your own.   Not fun.   I'm not quiting but I sure hope this kind of lack of communication changes.

When you logged in, you got a message from the launcher that you credential were invalid. That was the communication, then. I was thinking an email may have been better rather than just getting the launcher to say my credentials were invalid.

Next, I went to my account page and tried to log in and there was a red notice at the login fail page that said my account was suspended. That was the communication. So yes, there was communication, but not in the form I would have expected.

In this world, some people will consider a grunt and a fart a valid form of communication, so opinions will differ, of course.

I would think a company would send you an email saying something like, "we are investigating your account for X reason and we will notify you when the investigation is complete." Something like that, at least.

However, I was able to get back into the game last night. This morning I received the following message from ZOS customer service:

After reviewing your case, we've lifted the ban on your account. As it turns out, during the course of removing players that were exploiting a bug in the game, we inadvertently banned the accounts of a number of players we now believe to be innocent. We'd like to apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for filing an appeal. As more players contacted us with appeals, we were able to quickly identify the flaw in our process identify the innocent players (such as yourself) and we were able to lift the bans relatively quickly.

Case closed. That was the communication I expected. I think they just need to at least get a form email on the front end as well.

I don't know where you're from Scot, or how you're used to being treated, but I'm not used to being treated like that  by customer support or anyone else and I think it's shoddy. I don't want to get used to that manner of doing business. So I think complaining is valid and can help ZOS in the long run to improve their customer service. That's why I filed an appeal with them and when I found I couldn't post in the customer service forums, I posted here. That's why I and others in this thread complained. I also wanted to see if others with the same problem (who were also ignorantly accused of being cheaters in this thread) had heard anything from ZOS. Riddle solved!

that's so insulting...  I would be infuriated by that apology..  it starts off ok but then they kill it with patting themselves on the back..  "we were able to lift the bans relatively quickly."  Relative to what?  From a lot of people's perspective, it was not quick at all!  And offering you no compensation?

On top of that, it's misleading, because there are STILL people in game with millions of gold acquired through duping.  This dupe existed since beta and had been exploited since day 1.

So far, the handling that I'm seeing coming from ZOS has been "Wow, we did such a good job.  We fixed it in under a day!" when the reality of the situation is that people who were purposefully exploiting since day 1 and accumulating massive profits from doing so have ALSO been unbanned..

I also accidentally joined one of those gold spam guilds but left a few minutes after. I hit join instead of x because I was busy/irritated at the time -- I get one or two of those every time I play. But if they check my account, they will see I've never had more than 7k gold at any one time. But still, it could be a factor.

ZOS should add a block guild invitation option because in addition to guilds spamming invitations, gold spammers are using it too.

Sorry about your suspension but I had to point out that I had concerns about gold spammers abusing the systems in place to expose legit player's usernames. Now it seems they are not only utilizing traditional ways to get your account info but are now using guild invites as a tool to target players. Just hope you have a strong password, cause they have 1/2 the work done already.

I agree. It is very amateur. I won't let myself get infuriated by it. I will chalk it up to ZOS' growing pains. If they improve their CS and fix the bugs and exploits, they have an awesome game on their hands. If they can't manage it, then people will just start walking away and that will be the end of the story. I think they can turn it around and the game is fun enough for me that I can still be patient a bit longer.

And gold spamming in game is unabated.

My mind boggles at what type of project managers are employed by these companies where the end result is such a poor outcome. Just looking at the TESO forums you can tell its a half arsed attempt, I don't even understand how it could be so poor for that size of investment and IP. You could buy/install a VButtetin forum that would be better than that.

I goggled about this and found this posted on their official forums as of 4/19:

As part of our continuing effort to combat gold spammers, botters and exploiters, we recently banned a number of accounts. After several players appealed, we were able to investigate the matter further and discovered some legitimate accounts got caught up in the sweep. We unbanned accounts last night, and have email responses going out for those affected from our support group. It is never our intention for legitimate players to be harmed as we work to keep your game free of cheaters, and we sincerely apologize for the mistake.

Seems like they are in full PR mode before they lose any more legit players with that wild swing blunder of a ban hammer move.

The major concern I have is that known dupers are still in the game.  In fact, the people who held onto this exploit the longest were mostly never banned.

They tried to ban all dupers by automated process and apparently didn't even ban the people sitting on millions of gold from duping and instead banned a bunch of innocent people...  now, some people who were duping and banned in this sweep also had their ban lifted..  their crafting skills are still maxed and they still have a pack full of gold mats and millions of gold.

Do you have any proof or evidence of this?   I'd like to report them and see what happens.
