Are you really getting what you had been promised ?..........Lately I've been running into problems in finding one. I'm both frustrated and mad, I would love to name drop but I'll leave names out of it.
First, I'll tell you what I'm looking for, then what I'm finding :
IMPORTANT : This is not a pitch for me to find one, but an example of my frustration.
What I'm looking for :
- My criteria is very simple. All I'm looking for is casual , VERY LARGE, and with an active voice chat. My figuring is I only have time for casual. A few hours a day is all I can spend, and on occasion an entire afternoon or evening. I'm looking for a large Guild so I would have a larger pool of players at my level. Small twenty player Guilds have less of a chance to have others at my, say level 16. No matter how professional a Guild could be, it's not much fun when you have only one player of your level and he is always busy crafting or something. Voice chat would be nice for that harder content, and it's always nice to get to know people.
What I'm finding :
- I belong to a well established Guild that I followed for several mmos. However I got a little turned off playing FF14. From day one the Leaders were trying to be over zealous with trying to force everyone to run dynamic events to power level. You could plainly see all the noobs were avoiding it as they were learning the dynamics of the game....Their good people but failed to understand, not everyone had logged months of bata and is ready to power level on the first day. Add to all this, our voice chat was consumed with about five leaders that totally controlled the channel, but insisting that everyone have there ventrillo on. At around level 5 and still trying to figure dynamics of the game I moved to an off channel for a little peace only to be followed by a leader one minute later asking me if there is a problem.....What do you say ?....Well you cant say much, Like I say their good people and I'm just trying to stay in the back round for the beginning like many others.
- So my search is still on for that casual Guild with many players. What I'm finding is fluff....In Elders Scrolls Online I'm hitting up zone chat asking for a large guild. I'll get many hits stating were a large guild. But when I ask how many players are on right now. I get " well, we only have 3 right now, but latter will have more ".
- The Guild recruitment forums for ESO here on mmorpg.com is not much better....They offer links of fluff. It's kind of like looking at the menu at Burger King where they show you a big fat juicy Wopper and your really getting a paper tin soy burger. If you send a PM you often get no reply back. This one guy offered his ventrillo information to log on and chat with one of the officers. What I found is two players on different games and ESO had none. This same guild had one hell of a nice home page.....I have several more examples but I think you have my point.
The problem is ANYONE can start a Guild. We have too many in ESO and every other mmo. Searching for that professional Guild most often yields fluff.
BLONGING TO A GUILD COULD MAKE OR BREAK A GAME. Elders Scrolls Online social dynamics are not very user friendly, infact not at all. Guilds are extra important in this mmo.
