Metacritic is at 78, with a lot of haters (typical metacritic lol) giving the game a 0...there have been maybe 10 games in the history of my gaming life that deserve a 0 lol.  It's not a 100 either, and there aren't many who gave it a 100.  So with that in mind it's score should be in the high 80s if you take out the 0s and 100s....Just something to think about.

Metacritics and the like are a comprative tool. The same giving a 0 and 100 nonsense happens with other games. So removing all the 0s and 100s would not change the relative score of ESO at all. Other games would also score higher and the overall position of ESO would still be the same. Also something to think about.

I prefer to judge games against their peers and when you compare ESO to all the other theme park MMO's released in the last 8-10 years I think it ranks pretty well.  It has it's flaws for sure but it also has a lot going for it to.  My final judgement on if the game is worth continuing to sub to or not is still out however since I'm not into vet levels yet and probably won't be for e a few more weeks.  I'm clearing zones one at a time of all the content I can before moving on and I just finished the 3rd zone last night.  I will say it's not a small game by any measure and the world is huge both PVE and PVP.  It's probably one of the largest game worlds at launch I have ever played and not something you see very often anymore.

    100%

This site makes it seem like the game is the worst disaster in the history of video games.  It's a fun game, even if it doesn't live up to the standards of some of the elitist one here.

So you know for a fact that many voted 0 but not quite as many voted 100? I've found that there exists an equal number of ESO haters and fanbois on this site. People who criticise without having the slightest clue of the realities and people who are so defensive about the game that it hurts it more than it helps...

Solid 6.5 to 7 in my book so far, but only level 30 and haven't really experienced the full game experience, especially the PVP.

Both do exist but I'm not sure overall it's in equal numbers.  ESO pissed more than a few TES fans off by not being single player or COOP, the Box Price/Sub didn't help and the Imperial editions and Pre Order bonuses won them more than a few haters.

It's like the group of people who gave Simcity a 0 for no other reason than it was always online or Mass Effect 3 a 0 because of the lame ending.  Those people way outnumbered the ones giving it a 100.

    ESO doesn't deserve a 100 by any means but it doesn't deserve a 0 or even a 50 either.

As many differences separate people on this forum, there is one opinion that every single person agrees on - mmo is judged by its longelivity.... why would anyone take seriously review made two weeks after release is something I am having hard time understanding.

    Something to think about.

Uhm, Metacritic for official sites and magazines is at 78.

The user scores are at 6.4.

Not that either matter anyway. Scores are horrible IMO, and shouldn't even be given. But Metacritic beign at 78 is pretty shocking. Every other mmorpg as atleast 80, expect TSW, which got it mostly because of the bad combat and aniamtions (as much as i like the game). And i personally do feel the game's better than Rift or TOR from my beta experience.

EDIT: Also, anyone using reviews to judge whether to buy a game or not is, in my personal opinion, an idiot. By now, gamers shoudl know reviews can paint a different view of the game you might have. Checking info out for oneself is the only way to go.

Problem is that we cannot determine the actual size of the groups. It's all speculation. The reality may be that more people tend to vote a 10 to make the game seem more successful. It may also be the other way around. Without evidence we're simply spewing out worthless numbers that can't tell us anything. We're only feeding the two groups even more misleading information they can use to distort the reality..

The way people slam this game is incredible. Since when did a score of close to 80% equal suck? I was there at FFXIV 1.0 so I know suck, this game hardly sucks. MMOs by their nature evolve over  a course of time via patches and expansions. ATM the questing is enjoyable and the PVP is fun. Are there issues hell yes, but measure the game in the next six months rather than four weeks.

As someone who came to this game as a TES fan and not an MMO fan, that's not really the case for me. At this rate I'll spend a good 150-200 hours at the very least with this game. Maybe by then I won't want to play it anymore, maybe not. What I do know is that I had lots of fun with it and it was definitely worth the money. I don't need it to last years to justify it as a great game, although it would be nice.
