Never enjoyed at all so much in pvp scenarios as in this game :-), was incredibly fun, mainly catapulting somebody into lava. :-) Left when respawn rate of mobs become was so terrible, one could not progress past second group before first respawned ... later tried to return ... had plans just when servers closing was announced. I'm sorry they closed even if games was just filler when needed break from Wow or Swtor.
Thing is, they could have strict limits on the number of chaos vs order, trying to keep things relatively balanced, add a mechanic that gives bonuses to one side or the other due to phases of the moon, multiply basic exp rewards by five, and re-release with everyone starting at level 1. People might try it who never played it before.
look for returnofreckoning - private server...it works...only parts of the game are finished so far but they continue working on it...downloading and playing is very simple
I really liked WAR. It was a blast and I was able to spend hours and hours into pvp with different objectives and enemies; and furthermore, the quality of the game was AAA. Not Asian garbage. It had its flaws and felt sorry when it closed.
I'm slightly afraid that mythic or EA will not invest not a single dime on bring it back to life. So that, I have joined returningtoreckoning. I'm there with you, guys. I'm just creating my profile and such.
And about the Vanguard Vets, well, if they miss Vanguard, maybe a good thing to have a dedicated forum on this website for them to join and discuss things. What is bad on it?

Well... Have they managed to keep the fingers out of the jar of jam...? Because what pretty much always kill these projects for me (apart from mod teams falling apart) is that they go in and "tweak" progression rates... And that never end up well.
Any way... As i said earlier.. It is way to much work to fix for ANYONE to bring it back.
Originally posted by Krelian I cant deny the fact that I really enjoyed playing WAR when it was released, both its PVE and PVP portions.
Its a shame it didn't have the PvP expectations that forced the devs to shift focus during development, because the PvE foundation was excellent. ToK was one of the greatest ideas ever. The world had character to it, but became wasted when the devs decided to focus on it as a PvP game instead.
WAR was fun but WAR was also the *most* linear mmo I have ever played to date and I've been playing MMO's nonstop since 1998. The leveling zones were so narrow, small and linear, it was like walking down a high school hallway. Just walls super narrow to each each other leading you into another hallway, etc, etc, etc. Even the PvP zones in the middle were the same. It didnt feel anything like an MMO cause of how linear everything was.
Originally posted by TierlessIMO WAR was 1 Xpack and a 3rd faction away from being incredible! Sadly EA got SWTOR and killed all the WAR dev. They should give the code to the internet and let players that loved it help it live on.
What is WAR? I don`t know much about these card games, but it reminds me of the bedtime story my grandma used to tell us on those rare occasions when she was not drunk:
"...The fate of WAR baby was much more tragical, with lots of pain and suffering. So if you have the stomach for this horrifying story, grab your whiskey six-pack and land me your ears.
Poor creature was launched born at least six months too early, without some vital body parts. As if that wasn`t enough, merely one month old baby was ran over by the WotLK truck, leaving it on life support. The very next month good part of it`s team it`s mother went to SWTOR sailed away on Titanic, and a couple of months later even father Mark left WAR the house in an unknown direction, leaving half-dead youngling to slowly merge it`s ghost-servers wolves.
Left alone in the freezing wind, with only a couple hundred players village idiots following from distance, blind kid didn`t even notice when tabletop license expired Orc`s heavy spiked mace fell on his head, finally ending the long agony."
Just goes to show you, how different our tastes are.
WAR to me is the worst AAA MMORPG I've played period.
I've been away from it long enough now that I no longer shudder when I see the name... a few random good ideas (public quests) here and there and a good class or two (Warrior Priests were great) but a mess overall.
At least it proved to me that quickie scenario PVP doesn't mix well with RVR... a scenario popped and half your force would disappear lol.

Hilarious, and true.
That said, I enjoyed playing WAR for a while, skills were good and fun, but the actual combat was a bit stiff.

It is a question of fangs.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

To me, SWG will always be the best MMO ever...
