I have a level 21 defiler in eq2 and i have yet to see a druid (fury or warden) turn into a bear. You must be refering to world of warcraft. My level 45 Druid in WoW uses entangling root-moonfire-fierie fire- and then goes into bear form to melee the mob. I only use cat form for the cower ability which is nice for getting rid of aggro in groups. You could use cat form to kill lower con mobs or caster mobs faster than you would in bear form but if you are trying to do as much Dps as possible you might as well stay in caster form. Btw, once you get to the upper 30's your dps would turn to complete crap (the lowest in game) so dont be suprised when it takes a minute or 2 to solo a mob. If you want to solo you should try a rogue/warrior/hunter or shamen.
