TESO Forum moderators banned me from game for first infraction

EhllfhireEhllfhire Member UncommonPosts: 633
I was banned from the actual game by a forum moderator for my first infraction. Customer service as of 8 hours later has refused to reply back by either phone or email. Has anyone had this happen to them ever? What channels can I take to get compensated for stolen time?

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

So are you saying that you were banned from playing the game because of a forum infraction . if so that's the first of I have ever heard of it.
  • EhllfhireEhllfhire Member UncommonPosts: 633
I was banned. Ive both put an email and phone ticket and no reply email nor phone call after an hour like it said.  It is now 8 hours later.

you are complaining only after 8 hours? I dont think their top priority atm is to sort bans issued for those who break the rules, you did something stupid and now you have to pay for it.

neither was I, but its their game and forums. You didn't even say what you did? It just might be you deserved it.

I don't know if you've checked the EULA... but if it says infractions on your account can lead to a ban, and your forum account is linked to your eso account... then they have done nothing wrong.

Banning you is nothing like theft.  Either you will be unbanned if they find they were in error, or you will stay banned because you broke the eula.

Next time don't break the rules?

I deserved the infraction, Im not denying that. But for my very first infraction I get an in-game ban? And since when did an mmo EVER give a game time ban? No wonder people are leaving in droves with service like this. And I love this game.

if you love the game so much dont troll their forums and get yourself banned its simple really. Customer service is swamped read the letter to the community so good luck trying to get your account open again. You probably were banned for 24 or 48 hours I highly doubt its a permanent ban. Either way coming to a mmo site not even watched by ESO devs and mods to complain about it all is only going to get you trolled much worse than your ban is. Especially admitting you deserved it then saying everyones leaving in droves when that is factually not even remotely true.

This thread is terrible and provoking a negative respone from the OP during a tough time.

    Is this cyber bullying?

its all about how you carry yourself. If he wouldnt be pushing buttons with sarcastic comments he might get a much better response. I know I wasnt going to say anything until he threw in his last comment about everyone leaving in droves. But seriously what can you expect this site is not their official forums and some of the people commenting probably do not even play .

Get used to it. SoE for instance will ban your account if you Be a dick on any social media site. A lot of company's are going this way and I for one am glad there needs to be a balance no more I can be an asshat and not suffer the social CONSEQUENCE. I am for messing around and joking around but to troll a company or a person and I mean troll as in what it really means with out social consequence is coming to an end sooner than later.

All these forums and sites + games are very connected and soon enough you mess up and well the community will balance you lol.

A lot of company's are enacting a zero tolerance policy. Meaning no cyber stalking a character and trolling the person in RL inforums, social media etc. That is the extreme but company's are taking steps to put a end to it because they don't like it and nor does 99% of players etc. personal attacks to a player, company, worker etc will get you banned fast. if you have issues you should know to take a break cool down then state your issue in a constructive way.

I'm quite sure people aint leaving in mass because some people get banned, I play the game and I'm grateful is someone gets banned for being and arse. Those who don't play it dont even know just how much there is that kind of players. I see OP's post just as follow up for that behavior. Who knows maybe he did more that he is willing the tell us.

You got banned for doing something, suck it up and pray zeni to unban you.

I'm glad they banned you in game tbh. Deal with the consequences

So.. has the OP told us what his/her infraction actually was?  It would be quite silly to ban someone's entire account for name calling, to give an example.  Even if it was repetitive, and really harsh in nature. A temporary forum ban would seem like more than enough initially.  Not an entire game account ban.  It seems like the infraction would have to be tied to the game account in some fashion to warrant such extreme action, no?

My guess is that this person openly gave duping information out on the official forums.  Since the OP's name isn't flkflkfff, I'll assume it wasn't gold selling related.  Or perhaps, the OP is lying, and this is really their 5th infraction, which has now resulted in a temporary game account ban.  You'd think they would send an e-mail to the OP, describing said infraction, and the consequences for it.

I'm not sure, but I'm betting there is more to this than the OP is letting on.

  • GoldenArrowGoldenArrow Member UncommonPosts: 1,186

You broke the agreement, they banned your account.

    Seems logical.

I do think it's harsh, but I'm glad they take actions against botting/exploiting/rmt.

I doubt your offense was anything light.

Well considering this is ESO's first MMO, they are not very experienced in this aspect of the game.

Most games will ban you from their forums and NOT from the game.    Unfotuantly I think ESO might have your account tied to both and cannot actually ban them separately.

Its horrible, but I don't post on most game forums because of this very reason.

Since when do they ban accounts?  Since I have been playing MMOs and I started with MUDS. This is nothing new and even if it was your first time, hell even if they just have a bad day and roll the dice and it's you, they can ban you from their game whenever they want even without reason.

    ----

The only thing you can do is get back any subscription you paid in advance. But since you are still on your free month I think you are screwed. Technically buying the game buys you 1 month so you could argue to get back a percentage of the $15 that is left for the first month.

    ----

    Good luck

It would be if you actually owned the game time, but you don't.  You're not even renting it.  You're paying for access, and part of what you agreed to was allowing them to control that access with the option to rescind your invitation to the game at any time, for any reason.  I'm not saying it's right, but that's how it works.

I wonder two things.  Is the ban permanent, and what did you put on their forums that prompted this response?

Cmon, hyperbole much?  On the EVE forums the OP'd be told to HTFU and you know it.

I support this move fully, act like a douche, get banned from forums and in game. If those are the rules, abide by them, I'm sort of a zero tolerance person in that regards.

Not saying I never break rules by the way, but I do accept the consequences for my actions, nor look for "loopholes" such as "it's only my first time", or "it wasn't that bad"

Come to think of it, HTFU is appropriate in this situation.

We don't even know what the OP did. First infraction ban? Did he brag about how many items he duped? Talk about all the gold and power leveling he bought? I dunno, only person who can tell us is the OP.

If he got banned for flaming someone, then that's a pretty harsh punishment for what is at worst, worthy of a warning for first time offense. If he did something (against the rules) in-game and then talked about it on the forums, then it might be a little less surprising.

But, it's not fair to judge the OP nor Zenimax without the whole story. Right now the only info we have is that the OP was banned and that he admits he is guilty of whatever he was banned for.

Why shouldn't they ban you from the game?

    what was this "infraction"?

And why do you think you should have gotten away with it.

If it was my game I would have banned you until you called  customer service, apologized, and then given you a warning.

That is a first . Usually they just ban you from the forums . Mind you if it was something like racism then I would support a ban from the game itself too .

Zenimax do seem to be over zealous on the bans recently they banned people for falling through the world .

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/04/20/elder-scrolls-online-accidentally-bans-legitimate-accounts/

This happened to a friend of mine . When I started up a thread about it here Mike Bitton locked it . I have been trying to get him to report this story but he has yet to do so . I get the feeling that mmorpg.com want to protect their advertising and protect certain games by not having too much negative news about them . If that is the case I don't think they have much credibility .

My friends ban was lifted but she wasn't reimbursed the time she lost so if yours is lifted too I doubt you will get days added to your account . I like the game but I'm less and less sure about subscribing to it partly because of  Zenimaxes poor customer relations .

You accepted the EULA and then broke it. Whose fault is that?
