hey gamers, so few months ago GW2 started to freeze up. it happened a few times in a month span but eventually was automatic after about 15-30 minutes of gameplay depending on where i was, seemed to be fine during instanced dungeons but thats about all. It's been a few months since playing but i recenetly subscribed to elder scrolls online and have had the same exact problem. i updated the video driver which i was sure to be the problem but it is happening again. the screen freezes right on the game and i have to manually reboot after about 15 minutes of gameplay. the computer exceeds the minimum requirements, any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading

Sounds like it could be overheating.  What hardware do you have, and when is the last time you cleaned out the dust?

Think it is more likely the whole Dust/Overheating problem, though i'd be curious if it didnt happen during gameplay in other games, be handy to put up what your PC is, and whether its a laptop or not. It might even be one of the ram modules has died, you can test your ram, and your cpu + system heating capability by using the torture test on Prime 95, from mersenne, its a freebie one and only takes a few minutes, but it will help isolate the problem.image

You could have any number of bad components.  Isolating it based on the symptom of "freezing/crashing" is like asking a doctor to identify which variant of the flu you have based on you having a fever.  Run some tests and post your exact system build.  If you have a cheap power supply or motherboard, that might be the first thing to replace.

It would be a good idea to monitor temperatures while stressing your system.  Get a free temperature monitor.  Two that I have installed are CPUID's HWMonitor and HWinfo.  If you have a CPU from AMD, be aware those don't report exact temperatures.

You could also have malware interfering with your system.  Perform a scan with a virus scanner and Malwarebytes anti-malware.
