Operation Hermes: Getting Syfy's attention plan

ZeroshZerosh Member Posts: 16

Hi everyone, I open this post to make it some sort of gathering and strategy discussion point. So, if it sounds like a good idea to you feel free to contribute :)

In the last AMA (27/04), Anashel told us that there is no money to invest in marketing right now, and invited us to help in any legal and rightful way to get this project more attention, for example inviting out friends to join.

One of this ways is getting the attention of Syfy so they would accept sponsoring the James Bond experience. To do so, we can send a mail to some Syfy's executive. Thaks to tyrytmolien we have one mail address:

doreen.rokhsar@nbcuni.com  Doreen Rokhsar - Marketing Director at Syfy

So, as I said, my intention opening this thread is to make a strategy together and try to make that  sponsorship possible. Right now I have to go to bed because I have an exam tomorrow, but I'll try to make some suggestion as soon as I can.

Meanwhile everybody is free to share his or her ideas here, and may together we can make something happen :)

Let's the brainstorm begin!

P.D.: Sorry for any grammar/vocabulary/whatever error, I'm writting while I'm thinking and I'm not an English native speaker ^^U

P.D2.: Hermes is the greek god of trade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermes) so I thought that it would be a good name for the mission. And yes, I'm nuts :D

I've written and sent an email to Syfy. I post it here so feel free to edit it, enhance it or whaterver and send it to them or someone else. I believe that if we send a buch of these they may actually give us some attention.

    Here is the email:

    Dear Mr. Rokhsar,
I write you this e-mail to tell you about a project I'm following and that I think could be interesting for you and your company. This project is an Alternative Reality Game (ARG) currently being developed by Human Equation that goes by the name The Black Watchmen (TBW).
Human Equation has participated in other ARG in the past with great success, managing to attract 600000 players.
But, The Black Watchmen project intends to go beyond, to make the game persistent in time and blend it wiht the real world with things like real life missions with real life people in real life places.
I truly believe that an association between Syfy and The Black Watchmen project could be very profitable to both parts, and maybe it could lead to the development of something greater that could make a difference.
I invite you to give them a try and if you think as I think give them a call.

First thing's first: Doreen is a woman's name, it's uncommon though.

Also, I want to share a little thing I found about her marketing philosophy that we might be able to work off of:

    Multiscreen content
According to Doreen Rokhsar, director of marketing at Syfy Network, New York, finding new ways to distribute content is key today.

For example, in April Syfy Network wanted to build awareness for its show “Defiance,” and the company wanted to start with the Web to promote it.

As part of the promotion, the network partnered with Buzzfeed to leverage the online publication’s content with marketing to create unique advertising opportunities around the show with the goal of driving consumers to tune-in.

“We look for partners that can help us use content that we believe is most compelling and most interesting on that specific platform,” Ms. Rokhsar said.

“Television of course first and foremost [is most important], but in this day and age, we distribute our content across the Web and across VOD platforms as well,” she said.

The real point, is that it would be beneficial to everyone.

SyFy would have advertising directly to some of their target demographic, as well as people who haven't been exposed to it, or aren't regularly, drawing in new viewers.  not to mention they'd be on the forefront of a new thing that should be picking up in popularity.  Even the US military has gotten into it with their latest thing.

Human Equation would secure the funding that they need to make it happen with all the features, instead of needing to worry about what to include now and what to add later.

All the rest of us would simply get a great experience.
