I'm going another month.  Admittedly I'm not much of a PvE player or a quest grinder.  However, I'm thinking that I'm really going to enjoy the PvP enough that I'm willing to tough it out to VR10.

My main is currently sitting at VR1 and I have an alt at 32.  I also have all the crafting professions progressing nicely. I have 135 traits learned so far and several professions well progressed, but none are quite fully maxed out with levels and skills.  I like that it's tough to level up crafting, but I think Enchanting could use a buff in XP.

The main reason that I'm continuing with ESO is that I found a good group of guys that are like-minded.  ESO can be really frustrating for solo players.  If ESO hasen't quite been clicking with you, I highly recommend that you need to stick it out until the high levels and join a guild of people that match your play style.  That latter can be said about any game really, but I suspect the majority of the frustrated players out there have been playing solo and giving up quickly.

There have of course been plenty of bugs, exploits, and gold spammers.   Although there have been plenty of frustrating moments, ZOS has resolved a ton of issues so far.  Their customer service could stand to improve of course, but the tickets that I've submitted have been resolved to my satisfaction, not the least of which was the dreaded bank bug I/we had to suffer.  ZOS needs to continue to work on their communication skills, but I think they've been good enough to warrant continuing the game. Thankfully since there is no global auction house, I haven't personally experienced the supposed 'broken economy' some forum warriors are complaining about.  Prices seem to be fairly standard and gold is tough to come by so I'm fairly happy with how the economy is functioning thus far.  This may not match your feelings on the matter, but please allow me to express mine.

Obviously people are very concerned with how ZOS intends to resolve balance issues and this will be hotly debated as it is in any MMO.   No matter what happens, PvPers in general will continue to zerg it up no matter what changes Zenimax implements.   When matters like this arise and there's a 'forum uproar', I like to remind people that players that are content with the game, don't generally say so on forums.  Also there are tons of players that never post on gaming forums.  In the end you have two choices as a player, adapt or quit.

So why only purchase one month and not six?  Two reasons really.  1)  It has been a rough first month. Zenimax did allow the game to ship with obvious security errors that they knew about in advance.  This is a major concern for me.  2)  I feel that hitting the cancel button is the only real way to tell a company that you're not happy.  In Zenimax's defense, they do seem to be listening to their players intently.  They may not be responding in a manner that we all would consider ideal, but they are listening.  That's a step up from many other large publishers at least.

TL;DR  Give the game a good long chance and find a good guild before quitting. Zenimax has had their struggles, but have also had to face a gaggle of black hat hackers, gold farmers, and skumbag players willing to cheat and buy gold.  I think players that are in for the long run will be in for a great gaming experience with a great community which I suggest will continue to get better once all the WoW fanbois subs expire and they go back to doing whatever it is WoW players do.

P.S.  Ignore all these supposed game reviews and make your own decision.

Regards,

Mo

I hit 50 last night. So my future sub now depends upon veteran ranks. And so far all i have heard is complaints about Veteran ranks even by the most patient players in my 5 guilds who are in love with the game. So something is definietly not right.

Anyways, i will start veteran leveling tonight so i will see it for myself.

I signed up for three, when I have a reason to leave the game I will, as yet some bugs which have hardly impacted my gameplay are hardly a cause for leaving. What makes me laugh is the duplication bug, they have gone on about that as if it is crashing the game. With no AH it can only have had a limited effect on the economy. As far as I can see it has had no effect on me or my guildmates at all.

The exploration, great quests, indoors locations, beautiful look, voice overs, faction PvP, the Elder scrolls feel, the skill and skill modification system, have all sold it to me.

I might consider three months myself.

I signed up for six months. It was the cheapest option considering how little time I play and also need something that takes me through the summer. It'll take me six months to do all current content and by then it'll probably be f2p (I hope).

One more month for sure, then I'll decide on either a larger subscription or not. I won't get to VR until next month.

I'm curious.  What is the issue they are having with Vet ranks?

You could only get them after the nerf with Questing. ZM sees thats not right so next patch you can earn them in other ways. People were being forced to Quest grind even if they dont like that type of game play to earn the ranks.

Been playing since day one and im only level 34 ( I have a job tho), went for 6 month sub, I love this game.  Got it for the Alliance war really tho, so I have tons of content left.  Heck, I played DAoC for the last 8 years and never set foot in PvE.  There is lots for me to do here.

When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

Funny you should ask. After playing quite a bit over the weekend, I find myself thinking of not subbing.

Its not a bad game, I actually think the quests are well done, it's just...there are so many of them.

I find myself frequently camping bosses in public dungeons like a bot. ..and enjoying it.

Yet I read they were going to nerf this in the future, the one activity I enjoy after questing.

I really tried this game for its PVP, yet I fear there is a significant PVE hill to climb, most of it solo that I'm not interested in.

I might be done this week I think.

3 more months for me.  That should be enough to get to VR 10 and see how the new adventure zones go and spend more time in PVP.  After that we will see.
  • RaquisRaquis Member RarePosts: 1,029

I subbed the first day for 2 months, you cant finish 150 levels in one month.

I will play till I finished all 3 factions of the game, its up to the developers to keep me there with new content.

Some people have complained that the pace is too slow to level up as a veteran.    One thing I found interesting in the PTS patch notes that are undergoing testing at this time is this:

Additionally, the veteran XP earned from killing enemies has more than doubled

Now that the Dominion is beginning to be competitive in the Bloodthorn campaign, I'm definitely sticking around until we can right all the wrongs and have the true master race on top where it should be...

I love the game and i am sitting at Vet 3 atm and stopped quest grinding and headed Cyrodiil.
I hope this patch with inreased exp is hitting soon.
Payed another month to give Zenimax the benefit of the doubt.

But i also know many friends who are not going to continue :(
To many have had already seen enough and for some the grind of quests and lack of diversity to gain levels is to boring.
And i can only agree with them.

Yet i think ESO might still be a solid choice for the time being and if this major patch increases all exp across the board and you can have fun while leveling then its going to be a monster mmo :)

But Zenimax might have a huge drop of players and this is not good....
I hope free to play is a long way in the future as this will murder this game instandly.
We already seen the influx of the bots ( which are instandly banned by GM's !!!)
But when it goes free to play there is no stopping it anymore.

I realy hope Zenimax fix enough stuff to have more choices or this mmo is doomed after the second month.

All the hate I read about this game got me wondering how wide spread it really is so I went into the eso section of my guilds mumble channel and asked a few friends what their plans where.

I was really surprised to find out not a single one of them was quitting. ( there were 22 ppl ) They all talked about the bug and the issues, dupes came up etc. But in the end they all said they were really enjoying the game and were sticking around for at least one more month.

The general attitude I got from them was it was fun now and only getting better. Maybe playing in a large group of people all having fun creates a different environment than going solo reading hater posts all day does.

I love how these posts always pop up after each new controversy.  I don't believe for a moment that these are just your everyday posters; the posts are too carefully worded to address all of the issues.  Quite frankly, this is just viral marketing at its worst.

All of these posters basically say the same thing:

    "ZOS acknowledges the issues.

    ZOS acknowledges player angst.

    ZOS is fixing everything.

Trust ZOS.  Love ZOS.  Believe in ZOS.  Send money."

    No.

Fix things first.  Then call me.  Then I'll be happy to send money.  Not until then.

ZOS' behavior to date hasn't exactly built a lot of trust.

I agree.  I have struggled to get to level 11.  The non stop questing is just so dull.  I thought I would be able tough it out much later than lvl 11 to try the PvP.  If I've found it a chore to get this far, there isn't likely any hope for me enjoying this game.

The combat is bothering me as well.  Playing ESO and Darkfall at the same time is not helping ESO in the least.  Some mobs hit from ridiculous ranges with their melee weapons.  You can definitely tell that it is sort of a tab target game.

I guess the bottom line is that I don't enjoy this type of game anymore.  No risk vs reward, no consequences and endless chore running for npcs...I just can't do it.

Cancelled. Last few weeks did not have desire to play. Re-installed TSW. I actually like TSW so much better after playing TESO /grin
