1.0 probably coming?

I assume that since Japan is getting the 1.0 Update as well (i think this month) that it will also be released (at least some time after the release in eu/us or even before)...?

From what i could gather it seems the 2 major changes is that

a) youre forced to grind mobs/instances instead of "do what you want" to be able to get the good stuff / sandbox tings in the game - aka turning the game more into a korean themepark grinder (for some reason the korean seem to really dig that)

and

b) labout points seem to be so scarce that youre kinda required to get this labour point potions which are being sold in the cash shop turning the game into kinda a p2w theme (since this directly benefits the dev/publisher i dont see why this wouldnt be implemented)

this is a bit disconcerning...is it really that bad as you read on the dedicated forums? I see no way that parts of the world could possibly get other patches or updates...at least ive never heard of this happening for a game..?

It is coming; but trion said they have power on chosing what to get and what to leave out. Ex of what we know: http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?4206-Delphi-Coins-for-Trade-in-1.0-Huge-news-that-s-been-buried&p=65837#post65837

hmmm...well hope for the best - but publishers usually dont turn anything down that fills their pockets (p2w)....at least if they spare us the grind

I doubt Trion is flatout going to pay2win the game.

But they require you to pay the sub (patron) to "stay competitive".

The news about trade splits and delphi coins are extremely good but I wouldn't put my money on the game yet.

The possiblity of themeparkazing is scaring me off, since that did happend in other versions.

What we know from Korea's 1.0 is that the update mainly focused on themepark (very bad focus as it destroyed the sandbox..) since it was lacking in the game. The game is a sandpark, so if they do an update for themepark first, it's not unthinkable that 2.0 or w/e will be focused on sanbox.

Yeah that is true. The direction of the game which is set in Korea is Themepark and the following updates will especially focus on that.

The small changes Trion can make to allivieate the problems brought up by the themeparking won't be helpful on the long run.

As much it saddens me I don't see a bright future for Archeage as a _sandbox_.

It's not themepark, it's poorly implemented sandpark. From the look of it we'll get the lvl raise to 55 and the new dungeon; which shouldn't destroy our AA. What comes next it's up to XL which i haven't been following recently; so maybe someone might have new info.

judging by the "patron" status sold with founder packs I'm sure labor points and what not is increased if you decide to sub and probably the usual stuff you get as "normal" rate when those playing for free get decreased numbers. So my guess is they wont sell potions since it should be in their interest to get people to sub?

Tho I don't like the 1.0 patch one bit it turns the awesome game with freedom to a chore and grind which is really retarded because the last thing I wanna do in archeage is grind dungeons when there's this huge open world out there with so many things to do!

I think you only need to buy an ingame "cream puff" (no joke!) to restore your Labor?  At least that was one quest I did.  Not sure how this would be implemented with a 1.0 patch...

Well it has already been confirmed that one of the most controversial changes with 1.0 is not being implemented in NA. This is the daily for currency issue where they used to be available via trading. For the NA release, this currency will be available via intercontinental trade (enemy territory) and not only dailies like KR. In addition, 1.0 brought the new 60/40 split for piracy which has been changed to 80/20 for NA release.

So the 1.0 concern is becoming less and less so every day and thus far Trion is making the right choices for the sandbox core of the game.

What is this split change I see people mention?

If they planned on not having LP potions for sale on the cash shop wed know about already, because thats a monumental positive change from other regions.

When Archeage was released when trading goods if you were killed by a player and they turn in your tradepack, they received 100% of the profit and the creator (gankee) got nothing. XL decided that 100% was too much and they wanted to encourage players taking more risks so they changed it to 40% of profits goto creator and 60% to the ganker. Many felt this was too much and would create exploits, so Trion changed their version to be 80% to ganker, 20% to creator.

Although this is not confirmed yet, one of two things will differ in the NA release. I can guarantee they will not adopt the Korean version of the cash shop pots. Also keep in mind that this was also a change with 1.0 and was never part of original release.

    Two options,

    1. No labor pots on the cash shop at all. Instead they would be able to be aquired in-game NOT cash shop.

    2. If labor pots are on the cash shop, they will likely have a hefty cooldown. The original cooldown on the lp pots in KR was 4 hours then changed to no cooldown which was game breaking. It is likely that if lp pots are in the NA cash shop, they may have a cooldown much higher than 4 hours and I can guarantee Trion will NOT allow LP pots on the cash shop with no cooldown.

I see a lot of people here don't really know much about the game and the changes the 1.0 F2P conversion brought to the game. The daily change and the gankers trade hand in change overshadowed the other changes because, well...no change to a PvP game that effects PvPers could possibly take the limelight away. The game now has P2W aspects to it and Trion has not said a thing about them and in fact have only touched on the 2 things being spoken about here.

The only market that has spoken out against the P2W additions is Japan, where P2W games die. The biggest fear there is that it will take them too long to figure out how to remove them from their live before everyone leaves while replacing them with another way to still generate revenue now that the sub is optional.

This game is going to have a unique situation with the game being made in one country, having to make their updates fit how many different markets with different builds now? 1. Korea, 2. Japan, 3. Russia, 4. America

    that's 4 different versions.

Anyway, I will leave you with one simple quote from Trion's Archeage website FAQ "As a protective measure against infinite free placeholder accounts claiming precious land, ownership of limited real estate is reserved for paid players at launch."

obviously they MUST do this, but in a F2P game, it makes it P2W. This is a game that should never be F2P, it should be sub based only. It contains more than a few things that must be limited due to it being F2P that is going to create a paywall which should never exist in a PvP based game.
