It's not that wow is a bad game, it's just that most people have spent hundreds or even thousands of hours playing it. If you are not one of those people go for it.
Diablo 3 RoS lasted me a grand total of 20 hours. Not too terrible for 32 bucks.
ESO is good enough. GW 2 offers the best value for money. Don't know about wildstar, I am not going to play it. Looks like a Disney game for 2 year olds.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Hello guys first of all, I played those games and nearly I played every MMO. Like everybody am sick of playing same type of games. Here is my story; I got a lot of free times. Nearly every week I got 12 hours for playing a MMO (NO Lifer LOL!). Yes I have a life, going university and coming back and am working as a programmer so its why I got a lot of times... Nowadays I'm thinking to buy one of those games. First of all, I played The Elder Scroll series since morrowind and tried ESO at closed beta it was a bit buggy but still I liked it. WoW nearly I was playing since 2007. It was fun mechanic is Super-b but its time to say enough, because of repeating too much. D3; I got this game on Xbox 360 dont wanted to give a try for PC because of AH now I guess Blizzard changed a lot of things about AH and sounds like really late to play D3. WildStar tried that game at 2nd or 3rd closed beta it was not bad. Didnt made my character end game. But just tried. And I never played GW2 in my life time...
There is the question. There must be a person who played those games and made a choice. So I need help about that what I have to buy and what reason for?
Thanks for answers.
I'll try to break it down as best I can for you. D3 aside, they are all good games for various reasons.
Wildstar (inspite of what people claim on these forums) is probably the closest of those games to a WoW 2.0). It has some differences, sure, but it's still pretty much the game people are playing if they are looking to re-play that Vanilla WoW experience in a different game.
GW2 is a good game as well. And is underappreciated by a lot of gamers. However, if you are looking for a game to play non-stop for years (daily), it may not be the game for you. GW2 is built on a very different set of principles than the other games on that list. It's based more around customization than progression. If you're looking for a game to constantly grind for better gear, Wildstar is your best fit. If you want a good with solid combat, that's skill-based, has a large emphasis on exploration, and that you can always jump back into when you feel like it, GW2 is a really good game for that.
ESO is another game that is very much under-appreciated by a lot of gamers. It does have it's problems and bugs, no doubt. For the most part Bethesda is fixing them. However, there is an issue with the game that doesn't get talked about much. And that is there still seems to be somewhat of a struggle between the devs (former Bethesda) and the publishers (Zenimax) over how to handle the game. Nearly all of the bad decisions that have been made have come from the publishers, and it is unclear as to whether or not that will change.
Personally I am enjoying ESO right now, but i'd wait to see on it if you haven't gotten it yet. It's a lot of fun, but there's some questionable changes coming down the pipe that may change the game for the worst. For example, (and there is a massive petition to stop this), if Zenimax starts implementing AoE caps into the game, it will likely ruin AvA (world PvP), which is one of the best features the game has to offer. Keep on eye on this one, especially if you enjoy large-scale / tactical PvP and skill-based combat. It also has one of the most well-done questing systems, in which you completing quests actually does change the world you play in. However, because they are using very new tech, there is still a lot of bugs as a result.
Wait... So you are working as a programmer and study at university , and this is why you have much free time ?!?!
Okey .........
Hard to tell, since english is obvlously not his first language, but if there's any major that can reward you with extra free time, it would be programming.
Programming is one of those things that really rewards working intelligently, over working hard. Especially at the lower lvls. Granted, a lot of the smarter programmers I know supplemented this free time with additional programming classes / jobs to gain more of an advantage.
Still, 12 hours a week for games isn't that much free time when you think about it.
Okay you're tired of WoW - Simple, cross WoW off the list.
Wildstar - You're tired of WoW? Cross Wildstar off the list. Before WS fanboys (who happen to be in the ESO forums) jump on me, if the guy is tired of a questhub to raid based endgame, then there's little reason to believe he would be excited to play another questhub to raid based endgame. To add to that, the visual (whether you like it or not) will continually remind him of WoW.
D3 - If you liked D3, I have heard great things about RoS. I haven't played it yet due to ESO, but if people are saying good things about a Blizzard game, it's likely excellent.
GW2 - It's a good game, to a point. It's fun, but it just feels increasingly shallow as you level up until you cap with exotics and then it just stops. The weapon system leaves a lot to be desired imo, but it's B2P so if you're looking for cheap fun for a while, GW2 is a good choice.
ESO - I dunno, I personally wouldn't start ESO with 12 hours a week. If you like RPG's and questing, then it might be the best choice out there. If you don't care for questing, then stay far far far away.
Well if you are asking out of all of those games, what other people would recommend you play I would suggest Diablo 3, ESO, Wildstar, and or Guild Wars 2.
Any of those games are more entertaining than WoW, especially if you have already played WoW extensively in the past.
I have been playing ESO since the first day of Early access, I have 8 days of playtime, and I plan to resubscribe after my free 30 days, and I can see myself playing it for a couple more months, even longer if they add more content before then.
Diablo 3 I have about 200 hours on each class except for the Crusader who is at about 110 hours. I really like the changes they have made to the game. So much so that I actually purchased RoS which I didn't think I would do before patch 2.0.
I am going to keep playing it casually with some of my friends for a long time coming.
Wildstar I have played about 30-40 hours in beta, and while it didn't run as well as I would like on my computer, it is still in beta, and not optimized fully yet. I pre ordered it, and I am fairly excited for the launch, but dividing my time between Wildstar, and ESO is going to be really hard since ESO has grown on my so much, but the content looks solid, I love the humor, and the story in it, and I love sci fi themed games so its going to be tough!
Guild Wars 2 was fun for awhile, but I just didn't feel like anything I did ever had any real impact. I played up to level 70 on a rogue, and I only talked to 3 people who weren't in my guild while I was out questing. I also didn't enjoy the skill system, the combat was in theory good to me because of the need to constantly be moving, and dodging, but the skill system just felt too bland, and with lack of the role trinity it just felt too empty.
World of Warcraft hasn't been fun for me since Cataclysm. I played MoP for a few days, but I couldn't stomach how terribly they butchered the talent trees, and a lot of their other "design choices" like not bothering to release content in months that aren't mounts that cost $30 of real cash on top of a monthly subscription.
In closing there are so many better games out there than WoW. Please for the love of any deity don't settle for WoW, almost any MMO is better than it at this point.
Yes actually you are right about WoW, but dont know something feels not right about new MMO's. I guess its why people starting to play WoW. Dont get me wrong am not a WoW fanboy its most boring game in the world for me...

Sadly, I guess am one of them played nearly thousands of hours playing WoW. Actually its why I dont want to go back and start again.
I'm just curios about GW2, people says population is low thats the reason make me do not play GW2. Like TERA, Aion and Rift.

Video games and computers are my passion actually I do care about what I am playing. So It doesnt mean i will spend thousands dollars for buying new gears with real money BUT it means I will do anything to improve myself on MMO. Basicly I got EGO issues lol. No I'm kidding, obviously game shouldnt be Pay 2 Win.
Damn right, absolutely you are right about WS. After 10 levels, it was enough to see for me and crossed wildstar off the list.
D3: Sounds like really late to play for me. I mean just think about leveling paragons. Do you think am I have to give a chance?
ESO: Sorry english isnt my primary language somethings I talk shit lol. 12hours per day is my limit. Its beetwen 6-12 hours per day. Question is If I buy this game and start to playing. Is it late for that? Actually on my list first one is ESO second one is GW2.
By the way huge thanks to everybody for giving an answers guys. You are the best!
I'm just curios about GW2, people says population is low thats the reason make me do not play GW2. Like TERA, Aion and Rift.
GW2's population is definitely not low, unless you're playing WvW on a low-population server. In fact, one of the problems people often face is that they can't get into WvW because of long queues. It had problems with certain areas being unpopular, but those were mostly fixed by a recent update.

You could ask this same question on the GW2 part of mmorpg.com forms and get very different answers. Same on the Wildstar side of things. Here is my take. GW2 great fun and a cheap game being B2P, gets really zergish so dont expect a lot of thought. Just follow the zerg. Well worth the 60 bucks even if you only play a few month. Fun and really good looking just lacking long term depth. ESO is a great game with a ton of potential, will it go somewhere is up to the devs. Lots of instances, shards, forced solo play but a great skill system with tones of options. If you dreamed of making a mage that uses a 2h sword to hack and slash and wears heaving armor and tanks. This game is all about freedom in your class, lots of fun. If you are a TES fan this could be your game. WIldstar, this is the dark horse of game IMO. No one expects it to go anywhere but past level 20 you wont find a better game for challenge. Slow and boring before level 20. Nothing overly new, they recycle everything done well from most MMOs and then made it their own. Once you past level 20 and start doing dungeons it will blow your mind. This is the game I went with and will play till EQN comes out, if that stucks I will be sticking with Wildstar.

PvE is done well in ESO but IMO I have never had more fun in a dungeon then in Wildstar. As for PvP ESO has a system thats dear to my heart. They have used DAoC model that is IMO the king of PvP. Only thing is they dont seem to be handling it well. Small things like putting caps on AoE that again leads to larg numbers being the win and zergs become the norm. The fan base is yelling at them to change that move so who knows. They may get it and go in the right direction. It early in the release. Wildstar has very fast pased PvP, fastest I have played in my 15 years of MMOing. The battlegrounds are nothing really new but they are well designed and fun. Now their large scale 80 man PvP battles are something thats really awesome. Its smaller scale then ESO PvP but you get to design your Warplot (a base you need to take over to win the battle) So each side has its player designed base so you never see the same set up over and over. Keeps things unique. Just watch this vid HERE!!!!

Sadly, I guess am one of them played nearly thousands of hours playing WoW. Actually its why I dont want to go back and start again.
I'm just curios about GW2, people says population is low thats the reason make me do not play GW2. Like TERA, Aion and Rift.
Actually I was talking generally, I'm mastering on University so doesnt studying like normal students and working freelance. Generally I got 12 hours free per day. Its mean somedays might be 4 hours or 6 hours.Video games and computers are my passion actually I do care about what I am playing.
Game is only a month old, not too late by any stretch. Lower level zones are still bustling with people.
My question is what will I do after end game and has got some question marks in my head about bugs. Is there still graphical problems in game?
GW2's population is definitely not low, unless you're playing WvW on a low-population server. In fact, one of the problems people often face is that they can't get into WvW because of long queues. It had problems with certain areas being unpopular, but those were mostly fixed by a recent update.

ESO was on my first list. And still am open some advices.
First of all I'm really appreciate for your answer. Alright last one more question and I will buy one of those games. PvE and PvP I like both of them. Is there any ranking system too? I mean there must be a reason for me playing thousand hours. Other than this what about WildStar PvP system?
Yes, it looks interesting. Also you are right about ESO PvP system. Tonigt I will give a choice, thank you so much to everybody who replied thread. It helped a lot!
i haven't played ESO yet, but i've played skyrim, and yeah, it's fun.
judging from the popularity meter, ESO wins(cmiiw)
so, go for ESO maybe?
