is it truly a open world rpg, I know i know I read all about it etc. I mean is this no BS, no Strings attached open world RPG sandbox? is it on par or better than SWG?

What does a No strings attached rpg sandbox even mean? This game is more of a sand park, it has heavy theme park elements and heavy sandbox elements. It does neither one completely but both rather decently.
I would suggest watching some twitch streams. If you got the money this is your game. Last night I watched a guy kill his own faction, the crime was reported and he had to go to trial. He was found guilty and placed into a prison. The length of the sentence was only about 15 minutes real time, but what do you expect in a video game. The player eventually found a way to break out of jail and it was a team effort to do so. One player broke into jail.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I don't find it all that similar to SWG. It's definitely open world and it has strong sandbox elements, but it's hard to tell for sure if it fits your vague criteria.
I'd say do your research. I wrote a post here that can give you a lot quick information on the game and its systems. After that, if you want more, you can go here for a really in depth and comprehensive review.
Originally posted by LachyFTW It has a lot of safe zones and players dont really lose anything when killed in open world pvp.
actually you lose your crafting material, and farming materials if you die in pvp.
no gears tho. If you carry your crafting material at the time if your death you drop them.
in Archeage crafting materials are very very very valuable, you need to hire mercenary players if your a crafter and want to move your cargo full of crafting materials from town A to town B to sell your materials. Or you risk losing all your crafting materials.
Played the russian version and I have to say definitly not worth 150$ in my eyes
PvP is not as its being demonstrated, Ranged Classes will poon anything into the ground there master of pvp.
Crafting is pretty much very decent ingame but you need to be a premium buyer to make something usefull and be able to craft decently.
I didnt feel the game being a true MMO rather a single Co-op, nor it being a true sandbox other then giving the aspect of crafting quite a few things, you are very limited into exploring ...
Animation is very well done tho
Goodluck and have fun for those that are intrested tho

Lol, sounds like Darkfall. "Look, a non combatant or just some poor scrub trying to fish, KILL IT!"
*this is part where you get jumped by 6-20 people and wrecked, your fishing pole is stolen, and maybe the 1 fish you were lucky to get before you were spotted...not because anyone needs them, but just because they can.
Just joking...well....not about the Darkfall part...

The game is nothing like SWG, other than open world housing.
Its a theme park with sandbox elements. It uses your typical three tree system, but you can make more varied classes than most games.
Not saying its not a good game, just dont expect a sandbox with crafting even close to SWG.

I wonder if they have made any progress on the open world sieges and PvP? Sounded like they hadn't really thought it out at the time of your review. At least some of the core systems are in place and they can tweak it over time.
Edit: I have no idea what OP is talking about. Does he mean Darkfall open world?
Maybe someone can answer my questions here. I think I know the answers but am unclear.
Is there a way to continue perfecting other crafting skills after you have maxxed out the first 1 or 2?
Is there a way to learn all various fighting classes once you have mastered 3?
Is there a limit to how large a faction can get in the game? let's say 90% server pop is pirates and 5% original factions.
Is there a limit to how many castles a single guild can control at any given time?
How many offenses do you have to commit before becoming a pirate and is there a way to reverse the pirate faction after becoming a pirate?
In sieges does castle start to get destroyed by siege engines like catapults?
When you have a sea battle and your ship gets destroyed, is it gone or can you respawn it somehow?
1- Can't say since I havent seen or read about it yet but you can have 3 master vocations and crafting in this game is very dependant on different jobs.
2- At character creation you start with a class out of 5 or 6. Then at level 5(I think) you can choose your second class and at lvl 10 your third. Also at level 10 you get the ability to for a price(in game gold or silver) change any of those three choices and what is better is that if you had it at a specific level it remains at that level whenever you switch back to it.
3- Dont know.
4- Don't know but controlling a castle takes huges amount of resources so perhaps the limit is your guilds wallet and time.
5, 6, and 7 - Don't know since I havent seen a stream with those three in particular yet.
This may be relevant to question 7 but when your mount or pet is killed, it remains dead until you speak with a Stable master npc and revive the pet. It is possible boats work in a similar fashion in that once destroyed you must repair it with new resources or perhaps its lost forever.
Have fun getting the launcher to work. Some are reporting to have downloaded the game , getting restart launcher prompt and then having to download the 23 gigs AGAIN.
The game is a sandpark it has theme park questing and crafting. But it also has open world housing, treasure hunting, treasure diving, player and guild ships, guild keeps. While it's not 100% open world it's a lot better then most other mmos. It's on par with vanguard or even better in terms of open world.
