Not too bad...

Been playing ESO for about 3 weeks now and I have to say that it is probably the best of the three latest themepark MMOs I have played (SW:TOR and GW2). However I have noticed that I dont see any point in grouping in this game, if anything people seem to be in my way when I am doing solo dungeons and the group finder tool for group dungeons are pretty crappy. Will that change at higher levels (incentive to group, not the tool)?

Also am more into PvP and I haven't really figured out what to do with the PvP in this game. You flip keeps but for what? Are there any permanent rewards for this or is it just all for fun? I heard guilds can claim keeps but again, for what purpose? And where is the PvE in Cyrodill?

What you hit on is just a couple of the game mechanics that Zenimax missed on.

People expect a lot better than "not too bad" for $60 + $15/mo + cash shop.

    And they didn't get it.

As for PvP, looks like a zerg fest to me, and yeah, plenty of "what's the point" thrown in there too.

For a game that was supposedly the new DAOC for PvP, it didn't do a very good job.

Agree, you touched on a few things I didn't care for, and while the questing is top notch it wasn't enough to encourage me to sub.

The PVP in this game is tuned to make player kills more worthwhile than taking keeps and this will be made even more so in the upcoming 1.1 patch. Keep flipping for its own sake is a waste of time.

The inner ring of keeps surrounding the capital and the elder scrolls are the key objectives: the first allows someone to be crowned Emperor fro the side that controls them all. This emperor is not just a powerful group member but as long as you have one everyone in that alliance gets PVE and PVP bonuses. I suspect this inner ring will also play a role in access to the Imperial City PVP dungeon once that's implemented.

And the Elder Scrolls do the same: give PVE and PVP bonuses to everyone in that alliance (from that campaign.)

The other keeps are more of a means to an end when you're trying to accomplish one or two... preventing quick reinforcements, blocking transportation lines, etc.

Then there are the resources surrounding each keep which strengthen the keep's defenses and weaken them if captured by the enemy.

Yeh, that's about how I see it too with your first paragraph.   It has all of the typical trappings you would mostly expect in a themepark.  So as an MMO, it's not too bad.  However, for an Elder Scrolls game.  Yeh, not so much.

As for the PVP a lot of the same thing was said about the GW2 WvW by a lot of the same people here who defend the AvA set up for ESO.  /shrug

VR content is considerably more difficult.  I have people "group" with me when I'm soloing all the time now....  Most world bosses are impossible to solo unless they are CCable, single target, melee, and have lower health pools.  I'm not even sure if it's possible to solo a VR dark anchor.   A lot of the basic mobs that you were running through like they were nothing 1-50 will drop your health to 5% in seconds if you're not careful.  Lots of quest "bosses" have crazy dmg and health pools.

Many of the delves/public dungeons have packs that will kill you in seconds if you miss a block/interrupt.  Honestly, I wish they'd scrap VR1-10 and just make 1-50 the same difficulty that VR is now.  I'd love to see the outrage on the forums then.  Even though many people won't admit it, one of the biggest issues with the VR grind is that it can be frusterating because of simple mobs knocking away half your health in one hit.

Basically, VR is the fun difficulty...unfortunately it isn't until you already "beat" the game and are tired of questing.
