Just reached level 9, and really haven't spent many skill points yet as I don't know what build to go.

Those playing, can you offer some suggestions?  Would like to be a good healer end game.  But starting off low level, not sure if a Heal build is good with soloing.

So skill points at higher level are pretty easy to come by. To the point of I have run around with 3 -5 skill points waiting for things to level so I can spend it on something useful.

As far as leveling goes once you hit 15 and have weapon swap it is pretty easy to have a healing bar and an attack/cc bar. What weapon you use is up to you and your style there is way to many choices to go over. But have shards and the lightning finisher are pretty standard. Most regular mobs Shard, staff Heavy attack, finisher and you move onto the next. I can say from experience that having a pet or two out can make a big difference in what you can solo. With clannfear I was able to kite and resummon through most world bosses solo without much of an issue.

But the build is really up to you. Light, medium, or heavy armor is more based on play style and what buffs you take. Since later you can soft cap stats pretty easily it leaves you pretty open on your character design. Some people say it is easy to gimp yourself but I think I would actually have to intentionally try to make a bad build. I guess knowledge is power in that regard, read skills ahead, look at character builders. Wasting a skill point here and there is not a big deal unless you choose a crappy morph for a good ability. Then the cost to respec can be pretty hefty, 100 gold per skill point. 10 or 15 skill points at low levels not to bad. 200 Skill points at 50++ to respec though can be painful. Have not needed to respec though even with a few wasted points here and there on things I don't use or no longer use as again they are easy to come by as you level up.

It is all about your preferred play style. Try a few skills and see what you like. I started with Crystal shard and morphed it for an early AoE skill, only problem is the long spell casting time so I usually only use it from a distance until they get close. I went Endless Fury with storm calling and fire it off when an enemy is getting low to get the magicka rebate. Went Clanfear for a good solo PvE tank distraction. Would recommend changing to the healing morphed bird when you can unlock it as I think the healing ability is handy and there aren't many current options for self heal with the sorcerer.

If you want to do healing with the build the healing staff would probably be a good choice for weapon to give you some better healing options in that skill line. I would also recommend the silver bolts in the Fighters guild. Good range stamina based attack skill that is good against the undead and daedra. Lightening storm is good if you like to melee but was a bit high on the magicka cost when I was a lower level, for the time it lasts return. A few enchanting armour/weapon glyphs can help with that.

Storm Antronarch is a great Ultimate and would highly recommend it.

There are also some good passives you can get early for magicka regeneration.

When you hit level 15 and unlock the second weapon skill set makes it easier to have two different build sets that you can swap between. I have gone dual wield, which with medium armour and my Khajiit race bonuses has a few good synergies with the sorcerer skill line for crits. Just see what works for you but I think best thing to do early is to make sure you have magicka and stamina skills in your hotbar so you can alternate while you wait for them to regenerate.

    Hope that helps.

    Head over to http://esohead.com/

They have a decent skill calc for seeing general descriptions and great for mousing over morphs to plan ahead.
