archeage is the best mmorpg 2014.

ArcheAge2014ArcheAge2014 Member UncommonPosts: 135

None of other mmorpg thats released currently has more features then archeage. The closest i think is eve online, and swg.

this is the year to shine for archeage, cant wait for official release here in the U.S. not even mortal online, dark age of camelot, or dark fall has all these featureas that archeage has.

If you examine the competition it's hardly a ringing endorsement. But let's see what Wildstar brings to the table and let's not completely discard ESO. Yes,the game has not lived up to most ppeople's expectations but in six months they may turn tthings around. Not likely, but you never know. Plus there's expansions and other games to come out.

plus having lots of features doesn't make a good game.

I have done monthly sub before , but archeage is the first mmorpg im going to sub for 1 year when it comes out.

This game is worth every penny and subscription, definagtely will support this game 110%. Something I've never done in any mmorpg before.

It hasn't had the hype of other games because of course, it's not officially released yet. The people playing in the alpha are actually playing an unfinished game and yet it has been very well received by most of those people.

I think it will become very popular once it's released in its finished form later this year.

I'm unlikely to take much of anything you say seriously, considering you've been a member for only a few days, have few posts on this site, and your name is ArcheAge2014.  So, I'm "guessing" anything you say is going to be just a little biased.

Anyway, you can't really say much about a game that isn't even released yet (or open to anyone who hasn't paid $150 for access).

The game has been playable for almost a year if anyone really wanted to...but I agree with you about the first part :)

I will say the feedback I read about AA so far has been mostly very good. And for these forums a mostly positive feedback isn't common for any game. It actually has me keeping an eye on the game. I will be waiting until atleast eta before giving the game a try. Depending on when repopulation goes into cbt.

The open world PvP aspect of this game is starting to cause some concerns.  It sounds like a griefer's dream game in some respects.  Yes, there is a penalty system with jail time but this just seems so ineffective.  Commit a few dozen infractions and get a 15 minutes on the sidelines?   I would hope this is modified and ganker's are not allowed to rule the game.

It's May... There are still almost 8 full months left in the year.  You should add the words "so far" or something along the lines to the end.

Its not just 15 mins of sidelines time if its repeated. If get enough crime points, you get kicked out of your faction and must be forced to live on a pirate island in the center of the Ocean. Also, this is the point of the game. High risk vs High reward PvP gameplay, in a sandbox. Griefers would be the same as bandits from Dayz, while playing Archeage.

Archeage IS the mmo of 2014. 100% Agreed OP.

Good point about the jail system. This is the fundamental problem with all open world PVP games. There is no law enforcement system at all. Here it sounds as if AA is actually taking a stab at doing that so good foe them but it may not be enough.

or because it was already released in asia and russia... and no one was too much impressed ^^

but hey, hf with your game of the year.

"believe me, mike.. i calculated the odds of this working against the odds that i was doing something incredibly stupid… and i did it anyway!"

In my list its 12th among MMOs released in 2014. Just behind Face of Mankind
  • darkhalf357xdarkhalf357x Member UncommonPosts: 1,237

Well I've been on this site a few years and I'm in ArcheAge alpha now and I have to say I am impressed.  If you look at it realistically some of the systems could have been done better, but looking at the game from a mechanical perspective misses out on how well they work together.

I cant review the game because I have only been playing for two weeks, but what I can say is that this game gives me a strong sense of role playing that I haven't really felt since Everquest.

This is definitely going to be a NICHE game. I can easily seeing LOTS of people not liking it.  Its old school. Its tab target. And you have to work to craft the best things.  It can come across as boring if you don't commit time into it.

Hoping to play this for a long time, so far impressed.

The thing with ArcheAge is that the depth, the excitement and what makes this game differ so much from other MMO's seems to be hidden away. If a random person pops into a stream, he isn't going to be very excited about the game unless the streamer does something crazy.

What I'm trying to say is that Trion needs to market this game like never before if they want the hype to even come marginally close to the hype of WildStar or WoD. ArcheAge on the surface doesn't look very particular at all; it basically looks like a beautiful korean mmo, of which we've seen a few of these last few years. However, once a person decides to look past the somewhat "standard" and typical shell, they soon realize the depth and potential this game has.

I've been interested in AA since Jake Song announced it back in 2008/2009. I remember this vividly because this was the time I was part of the Tera FGT (focus group test) back in late 2009. With Tera being an upcoming korean mmo at the time I was very "involved" in the korean mmo community. AA was more of a dream more than anything at the time, and I completely forgot about it together with Tera which died for me during the CBTs.

Here we are 4 years later and AA is suddenly a thing for us westerners. It more of less popped up out of nowhere with barely any pre-hype at all. Now Trion made a good move with inviting most of the popular streamers, but they need to do so much more in my humble opinion. I hope they have great things planned in terms of marketing because this game has potential to be quite popular.

Sorry OP, too many botters, hackers and macroers in this game for me.  They have been around for almost 2 years..

for all i care it might be the best mmo since 1947 and im still not paying 135 euros for so called alpha. much less for a game thats been released in just about every other part of the world 2 years ago.

mind you, im still going to play AA once it finally releases, but it doesnt mean im gonna pay $180or fake alpha. nice try though :)

    What about me then?

I joined before you, have more posts, and my language is no more extreme than yours.

Does this make my opinion more valid than yours?

Archeage has a ton of features but it looks terrible.  The graphics are at least a decade behind where they need to be.

Anyone who disagrees with this is lying to you.

The combat is boring, the animations are lazy and amateurish, and the overall environment is ridiculously horrid.  The quests are the same old crap you've seen for years (go here get this, kill that x of y, go talk to z).  The UI looks like they hired a freshman from Full-Sail as an intern to throw together just any old junk so that the players can open menus.

Really..."the best of 2014"?  No chance in hell.

  • NiburuNiburu Member UncommonPosts: 402

While the Op is a fanboy as you can see with his name this game brings something to the table that no other major MMORPG. This is the MMO first and freedome second+the polish of a Tripel A Title that all those indie games like Mortal Online, Darkfall Unholy Wars and Xsyon or Wurm Online are missing.

I know from several well established communities who started out in ESO this year but got invited into the AA alpha and are stuck there now, because for  the simple reason that every playstyle has something to do and it has lots of player freedome. Where else can you see someone pulling his boat around on land lol

I have no access yet but my roammate has ( played ESO before) and it looks very funny. Only downside are the generic quests but after a certain point you can just farm for materials you need and level

I'm happy for all who are enjoying AA. Now I'll make my prediction. This game will not be the game that blows, well anything out of the water in 2014,15 or ever. It will have a player base like Tera, TSW and Rift. And this is even a bold prediction. When I really think about more I'm worried this will go down the gutter with bots, gold sellers and cheaters. I just don't have that gut feeling at all about this game.

Hate me if ya want, just the vibe I'm getting from this title.

Just my thoughts is all. Have fun ! That's really all that matters.

I agree with your sentiment but don't believe its possible.  You can't show the true value of ArcheAge without playing it... and I'd go as far as to say playing it for a while.  You can't capture that in a trailer or advertisement.  I think the best means of marketing honestly will be word of mouth.

I also don't see this game being a mega blockbuster (would be great if it was) but I feel it is too niche to capture the mainstream. I see it as a throwback to old style gaming with updated graphics, which is right up my alley but more than likely a miss for most others.

    Here's hoping I'm wrong
