Question for people who came back after a long time away

Good day all

A little history here, I played WOW from end of Vanilla to when ICC came out. I had a few reasons why I left.

Biggest reason was the fact that I found that after raiding Ulduar (which I did about 3-4 times a week) I would have some really nice gear, then ICC came out and a lot of instances became very easy to the point people were running them in like 15-20 min. They would get emblems (I thinkt hat was right) and then buy gear that was much better than the gear I spent months working so hard at. Sure you could say well a new expac came out so deal with it. I would say that would be fine if the next best gear was obtained via running a new raid, but it wasent.

Some of the smaller issues were I found the social aspect to be lacking a bit. It may have been because of the drama in the guild I was in.

I also found I hated the fact that at lower levels you run instances, but they were cut in half. You only had to do one objective and then everyone or half the group would just leave. Maraudon was the biggest let down. You queue up for a group and then run like 25% of it, then half the people leave.

Ok so the question I have for old school players who have returned is this.

Have the heroic instances and raids become better or worse?

Will joining a big social guild help when running lower instances or do people just not run them anymore?

And heres an odd one. Would it be better to level from 1 again to see how the world and lore has changed or go into one of my high level (which isnt so high anymore) toons?

The Ulduar and ICC dungeons did kinda suck but there were things that they still did right I think about it. One thing that made it better was that in my experience at least was most idiots couldnt do the ICC dungeons. The third one people wiped on so many times it wasnt funny. Me being a lock would have to end up tanking stuff because the healer and tank would suck and die.

The ICC raid itself helped kick out idiots out of the guild as well that got their gear solely by farming badges. The Heroic ICC was also a pain in the butt with people who were veterans it seemed. I got to 11/12 Heroic in ICC. This was after the nerf though because I did quit during Ulduar when my guild finally broke up after 4 years of being together.

With your questions. Im taking a break at the moment until the 6.0 patch. I cleared SOO normal and didnt want to deal with clearing heroic and just wasnt too happy with this raid.

I think the heroic dungeons are fun and difficult during the beginning. After awhile it becomes boring and way too easy. Heroic raids are still hard which I enjoy so far only about 1% cleared Heroic SOO. I think the raids are better than Cata but worse than ICC.

Not many people care about doing older content. Most have ran it thousands of times and just want to hit max on a different character. Joining a big guild wont do much for dungeons. PVP is a different story though many PVP guilds that level to max which is interesting to do.

It depends when you quit. Cata changed some quests but not too many. I would recommend using your higher level character and doing all the new content. Still a ton of content to level even if you quit during ICC or Cata. You might want to level up a different class through the newer older content just to experience it once but its not amazing.

Talent trees are gone and you can do pet battles. The formula for instances, raids, heroics is still the same but now you have a raid/dungeon finder.

Max level raid gear will be made useless once WoD comes out cept if you want to use it for cosmetic purposes.

If you got bit by the WoW nostalgia bug might be a good idea to level up from 1. Many people say about it going by fast, I find it quite boring and time cosuming b/c I'm not a fast leveler. Maybe take one of your higher level toons and just visit the places you want to see again.
