Vampire spam

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

Vampires and vampire wannabees spamming general chat with offerings of vampire biting... its allmost worse thenthe goldspammers..

Yet....i am actually glad its there...  who doesnt remember EQ, where it was quite usual to sell buffs and stuff for ingame money to others...

Zone: Selling SoW at  Blackburrow entrance for 1 gold....

It was a way of living back then, and it actually made the world a better place in my opinion.  Well, except for those greedy mages and selling their teleportation spells (grins)

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Heck  I used to sell warp portals  and sometimes buffs to people in Ragnarok. Course the fun part about that was watching some freeloaders jump into a GH map and get wrecked.

I have "vampire" and "werewolf" added to my spam filter so I rarely see that stuff.  I also have things like WTT, WTB, WTS in there, as well as the word for 'guild' in about  7 or 8 different European languages, which cuts down on spam a LOT.

Note the filter doesn't add to the /ignore list, which is what some other spam filters do.  All it does is mask anything in chat containing those particular words, but if the same person makes a chat comment without any filtered words in it, I still get to see it..

But sometimes in guild we talk about Vampires etc in chat and its nothing to do with buying anything. I stick zone chat on a separate tab so hardly see it. I might use it for zone chat though, one of the reasons I keep it on a separate tab is too much advertising.

It also whitelists friends, group members and guildies, so no problems there.

Personally I liked EQ2s player owned stores. Sure, there was an AH there as well but whenever you wanted something special you bought it from a player store (a lot cheaper) and while you were at the store you usually bought a lot of other junk as well. And yeah, SWGs was even better.

Getting the chat totally spammed get old rather quick to me.

Yeah, it was fun to check out what people did with their houses while you bought their stuff as well. I still like EQ2 a lot even though I don't play it.
