Splitting the community into factions is only the beginning, it looks like the 4 races/civilizations will be split also later on with the upcoming fame-system... It will get even harder to build up permanent alliances between all groups.
PvP-haters and neutral chars could still enlarge your alliance but I fear the "voice of reason" is going to be the only really large alliance even if Sorenal switches his interest and engagement on and off and on and off Well, he isn't the official leader but the one guy who brought most of the people together under this flag...
Perhaps the alliance will have a chance later in the game! Well, if SoR survives it's financial issues of course. I nonetheless hope it will get better and the alliance will work out when OPs and R2 are there and wish you the best of luck! Sorry I quit the game, but well, you did too, Kontessa, even if you might come back soon now...
