Bots ruining game for everyone Zenimax just don't get it

Astro6Astro6 Member UncommonPosts: 247

Sure Zenimax is banning bots by the thousands but is it putting a dent in it NO why well they still can't figure out how they are getting back in the game so fast.

I had a chat with one of the bot runners one day turns out they don't pay for the game they use a keygen unless Zenimax changes the way to verify key they could ban a billion bots and it would not stop them.

Now they are nerfing loot to stop bots farming well that impacts players as well i have played for days without getting any loot worth using or selling my provisioner is not seeing any recipes above vr1 drop.

Hacking is still rampant as every i see players flying around, speed hackers without a way to protect variables from being changed by external programs this game will fail, i don't think i will continue to sub for this game.

Wake up Zenimax use anticheat system, encrypt your packet data better, find a way to verify game key and purchase properly.

I haven't seen any bots in over a week. I honestly thought that they'd been dealt with until I saw your post.

Also, you may wish to remove the assignment that you linked as it's really not very good in terms of accuracy and, as a result, credibility. If you're going to link to a paper, then choose one that's been peer-reviewed by a reputable committee, and not a student's assignment ;)

keygen for a mmo? I find it hard to believe. This is ridiculous if its true.

I've seen a few speed hackers, flying about like superman and even diving under the map. The ones I could catch up too I reported in the hopes that something would be done about them but being new to the game I have no idea if a faster way to report them exists or if I really have to be next to them to report said bot.

Had one that was stealing my iron ore nodes with his god like hack, but once he realized I was trying to catch up with him to report his ass he high tailed it outta dodge. The other ones I've seen were leveling locusts, a bunch of them all following each other and ripping through mobs like a high speed train.

For everyone? I havent seen any in nearly two weeks and was just last weekend people in guild were saying how well zen have done on these issues ....so I think slightly overly dramatic statement to make I think.

If you want to be negative about esobe little more clever about it.

Sure they are not in public dungeons anymore but now they camp areas of high mob concentrations and they are now doing quests most bots now are invisible to players so you won't be able to report them.

I stand near resource nodes that seem to vanish then i notice playing around with targeting they are underground moving at super speeds.

i have seen quest areas where 50 bots with names random letters show up at quest givers and fly through walls, roofs at super speeds.

I am sure seeing that moment with 50 bots you definitly made some screenshots? Care to share?

Sounds like BS to me as well.

So only 1 goldseller group is using this keygen ? What are the other groups using then (there's several diff. groups active in ESO) ?

If all the goldsellers are using keygens, where did they get it from ? Because if they all managed to make their own ESO key generator, then many other groups would have managed it as well. I'd expect to see thousands of cheap ESO keys for sale on the internet. Why limit your revenue to only selling goldz or bot programs, when you could sell game keys as well ?

    It doesn't add up...

They would need valid credit card numbers too, and I'm guessing new credit card numbers for each new account that is botting.  You can't play without signing up with one.

Really don't understand why you're all getting your panties in a bunch. The game obviously does have bots/hacks. I admit I don't see many, just the odd one. Granted I've not gotten far into the game yet, so these are the newbie areas I'm talking about but I have seen a few Supermen flying about.

I was actually expecting to see many bots in the public dungeons though and from what I can tell, I've yet to see any. Just the occasional harvesters/grinding locusts. I love the fact that it doesn't seem all that bad, but the fact of watching someone flying about my screen makes me feel that it can be used to exploit in PvP and the likes... so this is why I feel discouraged.

I don't hate the game, I actually think it's pretty awesome so far. In case you feel the need to call me a hater.

So... the new internet term for calling bullshit is "panties in a bunch"? lol... and shouldn't that be "...in a knot"?

Nope, for panties its usually either in a bunch or in a twist.  Knickers end up in knots.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's Superbot!

Faster than a speeding bullet, he is invisible to the human eye! Stronger than a locomotive, he can break through walls and leap tall buildings in a single bound!

He can only be stopped by his superhero weakness, 'credible evidence'. Fortunately for Superbot this is a rare element among MMO players so he has nothing to stop his heroic xploits.

    The alternatives are:

Money laundering, use say drugs money you can't explain to your tax office to buy games, grind gold, sell gold and get for that legit income (gold selling as a business is legal, Terms of Services have no standing in the court and the IRS don't give a shit as long as you pay taxes over it and can explain where it came from).

Stolen credit cards, the gold sellers have access to an impressive list of credit cards with which they buy games. Problem: This is a criminal act, TOS means nothing and no cop will investigate but buying and using this many credit cards for low value amounts would attract the attention of serious police officers. Also, the sheer number of bots would mean the story of your credit card being used to purchase games you never heard off would be out there.

RMT (real money trading) is so lucrative and efficient that the accounts can be legally bought because a single sale generates enough profit to make it worth it. If I need to buy a single 30 dollar account to generate a 300 dollar gold sale, I am golden.

    ----

So there are alternative explanations for why gold farms are in the game in such abundant numbers. Logic would say that a keygen for a MMO is insane, it is trivial to have all the created and handed out keys in a database so that only actually distributed game keys can be activated.

But then Zenimax has done some really stupid things and shown they haven't been paying close attention to the industry (duplication bug going unfixed, teleportation exploit, low level chars being able to accept high level non-combat quests and get rewards for it, no gold spam report option at launch and lots of other things).

There are a LOT of bot accounts out there. I have no reason to believe the OP's story, he can claim anything he wants to but it would add an alternative for how the gold spammers can generate so many bots.

So umm this is actually a phasing error, From the way a guild mate of mine explained it, was some resource nodes erroneously exist in multiple phases and when a player harvests it in one phase it poofs in another. I was ranting and raving about it in guild chat, and he told me about it.

Apparently it was an issue in beta also. Yes there are bots, yes they are a PITA, and YES Zenimax is actually doing somethng about it because there numbers have decreased significantly.

I am far from a TESO appologist, go read my previous posts if you don't believe me. In fact i cancelled my sub until after Zenimax posted the 5 day compensation.

Correction, NOBODY likes a boss camper. Whether it be a bot or an actual human being. So the nerf is a great change for botters and campers alike.

Somebody might have thought you were serious.

    **

It's been a long day, and reading my post near the end of it I realize it may not make sense, or come off as upset.

What I meant to say is that somebody might not have gotten the connection between "I can see them" and "They are invisible".  Not to mention the other stuff.  Rather than try and throw verbal stones at the person, I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, that maybe they were seeing side effects rather than direct evidence and that whatever they were seeing, direct evidence or not could be seen, and thus recorded.

My last comment would have been much better written as, "There are people who might have read your sarcasm and taken you seriously because sometimes sarcasm is hard to read.  I have assumed people are being sarcastic in the past and it turns out I was wrong, much to my amusement and regret."

This is what I get for having a long day, and posting on the internet at the same time.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I don't want to point the finger at anyone (mainly because I'm using it to keep my panties unbunched) but only hackers can see invisible bots. They use hack-ray vision which allows them to see into the computer game like it was the matrix. It's pretty awesome really.

I've never seen it myself but I know a guy.

    He hacks.

    People know his hacker alias.

His apartment smells of fresh solder.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

I do not know about the keygen thing but there is def bots warping around the screen and through walls. A couple of buddies and myself train pull mobs towards them in packs get them turned around and let the npcs kill them off. We've done this a number of times to different bots which are usually in sets of 3s. Anyways they will die and warp around the screen about 5 times then magically appear back to life without a ghost just instantly. We managed to kill a set of three all at once using a npc train of mobs and all three disappeared a sec then speed warped back into play from the side of a mountain coming back to life instantly.

Zen needs to get this garbage under control though its only a matter of time before these tools become available to players and ruin pvp just like warhammer and so many players using war buddy. The last thing this game needs is some moronic trolls warping around the map ninja taken keeps and elder scrolls. The farming is bad enough but if they ruin end game pvp this game is dead and Im an avid supporter.

I know this is a huge problem, but it is definitely heading in the right direction. Everything they have stated recently expresses this is a primary focus. OP, how do you know what they are working on in the background and at their Technology/Infrastructure/Security meetings. Are you taking meeting minutes for them? Anyway, though I've seen in the past videos and screen shots of the problem, I myself haven't seen anything recently.

    There Is Always Hope!
