Multi-boxing

I wonder what everyone's opinion of this practice is today, or maybe it changes from game to game.

In EVE people defend the practice of multiple accounts working together in sync.  Some even consider it mandatory for high end progression.

I've hated it since I started playing MMOs and first saw it in DAOC.

I've started seeing it in ESO now, and both times they 'lead' character acted like a bot, so that doesn't help either.   Basically sets of 3, one leading, 2 more behind.  All attack something at the same time.   Even if the main is controlled in real time, I see the other 2 as botting.

More concerning is that people are willing to risk 180 dollars instead of just 60.  It must work for them somehow.

What do VR10 ESO accounts sell for on Ebay currently ?

If you're seeing a lot of "multiboxing" groups, it's most likely goldsellers speedleveling their dungeon bots or farming teams.

In a sub game, it's self limitting and although I'm not a fan of a single wealthy player having an advantage (although they will argue till the cows come home that it's not that much of an advantage...right) but they pay their subs and can do as they wish I suppose. In a F2P game it's a whole different thing story though.

Either way, it's a ridiculous trivialization of the game.

ESO doesn't have a auto follow command that I know of so when you talk about multi boxing you are actually talking about using a third party program to control the other toons which is really where I draw the line personally.  I have at times multi boxed in EQ2 where I ran multiple instances of the game on the same machine and ALT - Tabbed between screens to control the toons but I was always in control of every toon I played.  When you start to give up control of your toons to automated programs you stop playing the game and start letting the computer do it for you.

So as a rule if a game doesn't support auto follow I don't support boxing in it.

About $400 apparently, more if there are more characters.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
