I'm trying to avoid going back to Darkfall, but if I can't find anything else I will.
Things I need
1. Something that gets my heart beating, I don't want to run an instance and my only penalty for screwing up is a meaningless repair bill.....it just doesn't feel like it matters. I'm not against instanced dungeons, one of my favorite mmo memories was 45 min Baron Runs in WoW (5 min left 4 pulls to go, pressure was on got the heart beating, if we fail friend may not upgrade armor). I just need risk reward in the game.
2. Open world. I've played a ton of games and this is important. I really liked FFIV mechanic wise, but was no excitement and the world was just too split up....it doesn't feel like a world.....i don't mind dungeons, but give me a world map and let me go places without having to follow the road to the next zone.
Things I want
1. PvP with meaning - Battlegrounds don't cut it anymore. I'm not a hardcore PvPer and in Darkfall I am just a means for good players to gear themselves(with my gear), but I still enjoy it the sense of adventure. I'm a grown man and capture the flag is fun for a few turns, but it gets old fast. I'm not against arena, territory control, or even open world faction warfare(as long as it isn't just max level players griefing low level)
2. Decent Graphics. I got a nice pc and would prefer to play a game that utilizes it.
I am not going to go crazy listing a million demands. if a game can meet most of these things I will gladly have a look at it, if not I guess its back to DF....my only gripes with DF is that combat sometimes feels dragged out with the running away statting up etc...takes away from the immersion i feel in it, I prefer if I get the upper hand against a skirm as a warrior that they can't just evade double jump away and stat up and then come at me again or jump in the water and take my advantage, I also wish someone on a mount could catch someone on foot more easily. I don't play it to win, I play it for the immersion and fun and sometimes the combat just feels a little "gamey" sometimes.
Thanks,
Jim
