Auto Assault: The fighting system?

lotharrlotharr Member Posts: 981

Okay, auto assault seems to be more real-time fighting system game than the click-to-kill system.

And I decided to send a beta request. So can someone tell me... what kind is the fighting system?

And I would listen very happily the other thing from the game too.

AA is under very strict NDA...you actually need to print out the NDA, sign it and then post/fax it to them...so i doubt many testers will be blabbering about it

    Dang, didnt remember NDA.

    Lol.

From what I can tell everything is auto targeted. Pretty much fighting is point and click but you do have to drive around to keep up with your enemy and get a new or better angle on them. Also you have to drive around to avoid being hit. It's not just the usual point click and sit. It's point click and drive image Of course this is just how I understand it, I could be way off.

As I understand it this is how it works:

You can have two weapons on your vehicle, front mounted and a top mounted turret.

These weapons have what NetDevil is calling "tac arcs" they are tranparent green wedges that extend out from your vehicle and represent the area your weapons can fire in. Front wepon's arc always faces front, while the turret follows your target. Line the tacarcs up with your target n blast away. Whether or not you hit and how much damage you do are based on "rolls" like in most other MMOs, so it is a sort of hybrid between twitch-based shooter and standard click n sit combat. Of course you are driving around like mad the whole time blowing up terrian, almost everything is destructible people!!

Here is a decent pic of a vehicle with those tacarcs:

scroll down, second row, leftmost pic

This game is gonna totally pwn

    sweet gameplay movie

    Please don't tell me there's auto-targeting...

RTFT dude, I just explained how it works, it isn't really auto targetting.

Just head over to the site, www.autoassault.com, and read up on it. It's not twitch based, since it's an MMO and making it twitch would create problems with latency and such. AA utilises what they call TACArcs, which means that weapons will have a radius that they will be able to hit things in, and whether you hit or miss will depend on skills and levels vs. your opponents. This gives an explanation: http://boards.autoassault.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=gendisc&Number=14346&bodyprev=#Post14346

You can download gameplay videos and E3 cinematics from the site as well. I, personally, think the game looks awesome and am really looking forward to being able to try it out. I'm interested to see how well they implement a lot of features in the game.

    not quite.

as people have said, you use a tacarc to shoot stuff up.
one fixed on your nose, and one setup as a turret that tracks your mouse.
they have a "lock" system, that if you click on an enemy or hit a target button (i assume tab) your turret tracks the target, so you can focus on driveing, aiming your forwards guns and useing spells/skills ect.

  • Dissappointing theres not much more skill required than the typical MMO. Once you click an enemy you basically just drive near them holding left click until everything dead, while hitting a few abilities now and then. it gets pretty repetitive after a while.

Oh well, its still early better.

it doesn't take a beta tester to see what it's like, it's very similar to twisted metal, except that you have a turret that you are in control of on top of trying to keep control of your vehicle. what makes it exceptional is the customizability of your vehicles, the ability to change out your weapons, tires, engines enhancements and such is just a start, you can use the tricks and trims system to make your vehicle look how you want it, and from some of the screens available, you can really see that the options are quite varied

Actully in a recent Q&A Auto Assault is an Arc System of fighting. Select Targets, line up and do a run, its your skill that determinds the accuarcy,

but i dont see how that would work if you were following them down a high way, thats just me

Played ---> Earth and Beyond, Everquest, Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heros, Lineage II, Everquest II, Final Fantasy XI, Dark Age of Camolot, Guild Wars

Tried ---> Anarcy Online, Matrix Online, EVE Online, Asheron's Call, Ragnorock Online

Playing ---> World of Warcraft - 54 Orc Warrior on Doomhammer named Broly

As I understand it (the NDA being what it is, if I am in the beta test, I couldn't tell you), it's your standard online signature. Just as legally binding, without the downtime of waiting for uspost/fax timing.

...so i doubt many testers will be blabbering about it
Oh I'm sure some will. I just hope they remember they're volunteering to abandon their beta account for doing so. But no, most will probably keep to the NDA and wait till legally allowed to do so before blabbering all the details.

    hope that resolves the

Front, Turret and rear weapon. Along with a meele weapon. The turret auto aims as said before, but your goal is to keep the target infront of you and hit him with two weapons at once. However, just holding down the fire button works as well because theres usually a few ground troops around that get caught by your front or back weapon. There is nothing thats boring about this combat and it 100 times better than any button pressing combat system out there.
