Doesn't even look that good tbh. Draw distance is abysmal with stuff popping out of nowhere in front of you. Animations were iffy too, but that can of course be improved. Draw distance however... I am not too optimistic they can improve that.
Youtube video means jack.. One of the most fun things to do on these forums is watch the hype before a game comes out and read the threads a week after the game comes out. Then come back in 30 days and see all the I am quiting threads or I wish I didn't buy this game

To be fair, I have never thought any big MMORPG has looked that great or amazing. That's going all the way back to when wow came out, and every game I have seen come out since didn't seem anything that special.
As it stands the longest I've played an mmorpg since runescape years ago is a little over a week, that was FF14. Runescape I played for a couple years, but that was because my brother/friends and it had some exceptional aspects in my mind.
So me seeing something that looks exceptional, that's a pretty big thing for me.
I generally dislike Asian games as a whole. That is not to say there is not a specific Asian game I might love. Asian games usually look gorgeous and often it seems most of the energy is spent on making a terrific looking world. Questing in Asian games is usually mundane and emphasizes boring grinding play without much imagination to even disguise the fact you are doing the same thing over and over again. Do Asians like this? Apparently so. I tend to avoid these type of games but we will see in a couple of years how this game turns out.

Since pearl abyss build the game on its own engine specially created for black desert - the engine itself is called black desert
the possibilities of improvements are basicaly endless
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
Stuff looks nice enough. My main issue with this game is what it's always been... Quite frankly, the characters simply don't fit into the world. They look fake and plastic. Like they're not a part of the world. At least in my opinion. Just looks so... Wrong.
140511 Black Desert (BD) is somewhat under the radar for non South Koreans. (no SK id# to register for beta consideration.) Very little is on its homepage; for the last few weeks, they are even taking a break from their facebook (warning dhs datamining site) page as they prepare for the 3rd Closed Beta.
I'm sad for that fact that tons of hard work went into this game, and will simply be MURDERED by the cash shop. Disagree all you want, but it's fact they pull every single dollar out of people they can. I was gonna give this game a shot, till I found a few threads around the web on how pay to win this game will be. Good luck to all who enjoy!

its a bit of a concern to me... i can buy a new system for the game, not a huge problem... but the game seems extremely taxing - even when not in mass pvp
I have seen a guy with 2 gtx 770 having frame problems in the city...than im wondering what kind of pc you need to run it smoothly

care to elaborate? how you know that? i doubt they have a c-shop in place for the cb?
Can someone link me a write up on the PvP. Wpvp? 3 faction? FFA?
I've also heard BD called a sandbox, why?
Thanks in advanced.
open pvp
gathering / crafting / trading / player driven conomy / buying houses in the world / persistant world / sieging... seems to have similar features as archeage, a few less tough

I'm sure you could just pull the answer out of any generic I hate f2p post.

He's basicly trolling
Pearl Abyss says payment model depends on the publisher and as they havent even announce if they have chosen an EU publisher, its basicly just a random BS
Someone mentioned that the siege video lacks siege engines - the game has them (as well as parkour climbing etc) - just check other siege videos..and if Im not mistaken players need to craft siege engines
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
I'd be interested in trying this game based on two quotes in their FAQ...
"Rather than gaining experience points from quests like most MMORPGs, experience comes primarily from killing monsters. Quests give separate beneficial rewards."
I've had my fill of quest grinders for a very long time.
And...
"There is no level capacity, but once a player reaches level 50 they may find it very difficult to gain additional levels."
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own. -- Herman Melville
This game... looks so beautiful. Non instanced housing? My dream.
To me this looks better than everything else on the market, and any game I've seen coming out.
I might cry.
I think Bless looks as nice as Black Desert at least the open seamless world anyway. Both have PVP and all those sandbox features but Bless has tab targeting but an open skill system like ArcheAge.
Am I the only one that DON'T like the graphics & looks of this game? I think it looks dull. Those character animations look awkward and the characters themselves doesn't seem to blend in very well with the world.
Not to mention the dull and boring UI. It might be considered functional though!

It depends on publisher is what pearl abyss said
But yes, for now there is gender locking
You have sorceres female, and mage male - different skills
You have warrior male, valkyrie female - again the same thing
You have only male predator - the giant
female tamer only
male/female blader or sthing similar
Though to be honest I really dont get the "boohooo gender locking, im not gonna play that!" attitude.. - if the lore is build around it then it makes sense in the game - I honestly rather have this than having Female Gnome Warrior dual wielding warhammers / Thats basicly completely stupid, apart from gender locking which was a thing in world for thousands of years..

I never been this hype for a game since vinticus and I still play that game so I know im move to Black desert for sure once it releases on NA. This is like an open world vinticus and the graphic is amazing and that character customization dam ill be on that for a good 2 hours.
This game looks perfect from the PVP to the immersive towns and carrying packs on donkeys or carriages or stabling mounts to the combat and probably a ton of other things I haven't looked at yet.

Thats because it is )
heres some GvG castle siege with sneaking, sewer fighting, parkouring and entrance formation blocking so you can cry even more

edit
btw, some HD screenshots and 90 sec video/trailer
? for some reason this site keeps adding "no follow" to the links
sieging looks a bit boring tough, like normal pvp just in front of a castle...
they need some more siege mechanics, like latters, siege weaponry etc. etc.

good enough for me thanks. Are there factions?

Q: Cash shop balance is one of the most concerned parts in free-to-play MMOs and in previous interviews PearlAbyss didn't talk too much about cash shop. Can you shed some light on this part now?
A: This is a very sensitive issue for developers as well as publishers. Matters regarding payment and a cash shop will need to be discussed with our current Korean and Japanese publishing partners prior to releasing the game to the public. Monetization policies will differ for individual regions after discussion with local partners.
Q: What payment model are they going to use?
A: They declined to reveal this for the moment.
