You get use to the graphics and the way they are worse is less annoying than playing EQ graphics.
lol diablo isn't an MMO. If you are going to apply subjective the definition of MMO then you pretty much have to say COD is an MMO.
EQ has much better graphics then minecraft IMO. Even UO had better graphics then minecraft. That isn't even the big issue though. The way you swing a weapon, block, and shoot a bow isn't enjoyable.
I've been saying that modded Minecraft is better for awhile now, so I hear what the OP is saying. I do disagree, however, that it shoud be made into an MMO. I think the fact that players can pick and choose what mods to use or not use to tailor their own experience is what makes great in the first place. Want quests? There's a mod for that. PvP? A mod or that. Full economy, custom textures, and flying creepers? Yup, yup, and yup.
But then the players have the option to skip those servers that do if that is not what they want. And this wouldn't work in most MMOs. So many devs spend so much time trying to appeal to everyone rather than focusing on a specific crowd, that what gamers usually end up with having to do all of "X" to just enjoy "Y", in a recipe full of mediocrity and leaving a bitter after taste. Doing this to Minecraft will only end up taking out the sand from its sandbox, no matter how hard they try not to, ultimately leaving everyone with a Minecraft skinned ESO.
Been playing minecraft for my MMO fix and I am surprised to see all the things I missed in old mmos in minecraft. This one server I play on is 300+ people on and it is awesome. You gain levels by mining, which also gives you rare drops and tokens. Plus building materials for your house, to craft armor and to sell for money. Your exp can be spent on enchanting your player crafted armor/weapons. When you die you lose everything you carry and all your exp. Not a problem tho because you can mine to get more exp. It only takes about 45 min to hit a decent level again. I don't think there is a level cap but their might be. Exp because hard around level 60.
There are no quests or goals in the game. You decide what you want to focus on. You can just mine and make a badass house made out of all the best items in the game. Or you can focus on PvP
Oh and your armor weapons will break and be lost. Also, there are no guides on crafting you just have to figure out what makes what.
try Wurm Online pvp servers.
Made by the same guy who made minecraft.
hold on a sec.
It was co-created by the guy who made minecraft. I think it was always Rolf's project and he is the backbone of the game.
That said, the connection to minecraft is why I mentioned Wurm which in my view is better
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Most of all though, you can join a new server where everyone starts fresh and that 'race to power' can begin anew, unlike an MMO where its always stuck with the powerful becoming even more powerful. That in itself is the biggest flaw with that style of gameplay. The little guy can never get to the point the big guy is unless the big guy quits. It becomes an uphill battle that becomes even more difficult. Having the ability to jump to a new world gives that power gap no chance to continue.

It works so well because it is NOT an MMO
