Played a bit more and have a few things to add. The quests are REALLY bad. It's like... go to this place and talk to this person, then go back to the NPC to turn it in (usually). Go to this place and kill ONE enemy, then go back to the NPC to turn it in. Go to this other place and collect ONE item, then return to the NPC. You really do spend more time going places than actually DOING anything and it's really disappointing. Leveling so far is very easy, I've barely done anything and I've passed level 10.
Honestly, I think this might be worse than insanely grindy quests that require you to kill 50-100 enemies. At least with that you get experience using your skills and class and you have a chance to learn things. With quests like these it may possibly be one of the most tedious and mundane experiences possible.
Also, for the steampunk faction, I'm really disappointed with the environment/level design. It's so boring... I hope later on there will be a truly steampunk town and these are just mini towns or something. They look like fairly generic modern buildings, slightly western themed sometimes but mostly fairly modern looking. There's nothing really steampunk about it. The first town has a few gears on the side of a building and in the center of the town and that's about it... I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting but definitely not this bland and boring.
With that said, some other general issues I have are lots of pop in despite turning up the view distance to max. Random freezes/lag (freezes like how in some games when it autosaves it sort of freezes for a bit). I don't have the most powerful PC in the world but I don't think I should have any issues running this seeing as how I can run TERA and other MMOs fine. More than likely it's not very well optimized but who knows.
What's kind of cool is that you eventually get these "mechs" you can get into and fight things with. Controls aren't the best but the idea is cool, there seem to be a ton of them, I almost felt like it was about to turn into Mech Warrior Online (but obviously no where near the customization/complexity, it's very basic).
I think that's about it, combat feels a bit clunky as a mage. I don't have enough fingers at times. There are spells that auto target, spells that you have to place on the ground, and spells that deal DoT in front of you or in an arc so you have to move into range to hit enemies. Enemies have been really easy so far so there hasn't been any need to dodge or maneuver around very much. I'd imagine once you have to it can get a bit cumbersome, but maybe not.
If you're going to try the game I honestly don't think I can recommend playing as the steampunk faction. I don't know how the other area is, maybe someone who played as that can describe it but I don't think it can be any worse to be honest. It's a lot of desert, I'd rather look at greens I guess. I'll check out that faction later when I can't stand playing this one anymore.

IMHO I think questing was lost once I found out I could click and run to the quest or turn it in.

Started over with the nature faction, looks way better imo, much more interesting but... you can't actually skip cutscenes despite it saying push escape to skip... great -.-
I would also recommend playing in crosshair mode, the game controls way better that way imo. Push escape, go to Operation Settings and choose crosshair (or whatever one you want). It sets the camera to auto rotate, plays more like TERA this way if you're a fan of that.
I have to say, for all the negativity and bashing I've done to this game, it has a ton of options. It's something to be commended.
Black Gold closed beta footage, 720p A very quick look @ character creation and the first few quests & cut-scenes, sped up to prevent brain degradation. All music by Stenchman.
My advice? If you're looking for a shooter / RPG hybrid MMO, go play Defiance. Sure it's not great, but it's going F2P and is 1000% better than this extremely generic, badly translated piece of MMO mediocrity.

what a crappy game , the enviroments are nice , but the combat sucks so bad...and quest? pathfinding > pathfinding > pathfinding, quest are all 0/1 (kill /recolelct) so u travel there for 1 flower? or kill 1 mob and back to npc....i disliked 300 mobs but 1? really? dont have time to even use my skills (not that i want too)
the only thing this games have going for it is :
classes , lots of options and some are really interesting
mount combat , is clunky as hell moving is slow tedious but oh well
who will play that when there are other f2p that are 10000 better than that? who knows :?
I played this quite a bit more. I do like the PvP quite a lot and I'm not a PvP person at all. I like the idea that you get "mounts" you can use as war machines rather than just simply going on foot and using skills against players. I think it does still need a lot of work, there aren't many skills for the mounts, just 2 so far, so it can get a bit boring. If you try to use your own "carrier" as they call it, it runs out of energy or something and that kind of ruins the fun of it.
I also did my first dungeon run with a group and it was pretty cool, not too hard, plenty of loot and everything seemed to work out pretty easily. The queue took forever though.
1v1 PvP queuing isn't very good or the class balance is just horrible (perhaps both). Out of the 4-5 times I queued for PvP I lost all. All of the losses were to people around 2-4 levels higher than me which apparently is enough not stand much of a chance OR, the conclusion I came to after losing to an assassin 2 levels LOWER than me, the class I picked is just awful. It was a Spellsword I believe. If I'm just bad I will accept that, but honestly I don't think I've ever lost this consistently in 1v1 PvP in any other game.
Maybe someone else can give their thoughts on Spellswords and PvP in general if you've gotten to that point. The game has potential but it needs a lot of work imo.
I've been playing the game more and I have to admit it grows on you. It will have a niche fan base for sure, its not pulling anyone away from any major titles, but it has some neat ideas and a cool (if obvious rip off) setting. Provided the F2P model isnt too draconian, I will probably play this. The big battlefield with all the mounts is pretty fun
Also about the pathfinding complaining everyone is doing... if you don't like it, why would you use it? It's not even readily obvious that it's there, you have to open the quest log to do it.

Garbage. Installed, played about 10 minutes, uninstalled. Everything about it screams "Asian MMO RPG Maker 5.0"
It has all the love and care of your average Panda Express.

Same here, but there is no hype at all for this game which is fairly unsettling.
There is a good reason for that. Google "Snail games review". Snail has to be one of the worst hosts I have seen for not having really any customer service (taking 2-3 weeks to reply on monetary issues), advertising as a non-P2W game when it clearly is an advantage to spend (you can even BUY skills in the cash shop for AoW), and the lack of game support. The game launched with only 50% localization and half the quests or random encounter things being broken.
Sad to say, but Black Gold (Not to be confused with Black Desert, which is a different game and company) was dead before it started. With a different host, it might have survived.
Not to defend Snail Games, but as someone who has dealt with the BBB in the past, take their scores with a grain of salt. The BBB will make bad scores go away magically with the handing over of cash for "accreditation," and will lay heavier on negative complaints if you refuse to pay up.

I had d/l the game for a week before the CB, and played for a hour made it to battlefield, and uninstalled....game is just unsettling...
Combat is poor, responsiveness is weak at most times, with stiff controls during mecha combat.
