Age of Conan was released to the detriment of the MMO and gaming industry.
On that launch day, 6 years ago, we learned several truths:
The game also had a lot of promise with its combat system and excellent voice acting. Tortage was a technological and ground breaking marvel. That does not excuse a terrible launch and a fleecing of its customers. I was there, I was affected.
I will continue to fight the good fight and expose Funcom for what it truly is: A malignant tumor in the industry, more concerned with its bottom line than the quality of their effort. They wasted and disused our trust and they boldly challenged us to do something about it.
I hope the current state of Age of Conan is a lesson learned for any others wishing to sell us their snake oil.
I will never forget. I will never forgive.

6 years later and you are still on the funcom hate train?
Time to hop off, I am sure something else in 6 years time is more worthy of your hate and time.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
It's good to remember shady companies and their practices, luckily they've failed in every facet since then.
That said a weekly reminder can never hurt

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
Never forget Op...Never forgive.
Let the hate burn and consume you- Let it motivate you- Let it BECOME YOU.

I had a friend whose computer broke down right after he bought AOC, and a couple years later he still didn't have the money to play it so he gave me the game (collector's edition even!). He'd never got to play it once. So I made a character and I have to admit, if it hadn't been for gifting me the game I'd never have even considered playing a Conan game -- I mean...that's just not my thing, right?
But I did, and I made a Demonologist because caster. A stygian. And Tortage was pretty rough, especially some parts of that island and in the underhalls. But I'll say this -- I had never had so much fun with a game! I even subscribed and joined a guild, even though people warned me it changed after Tortage. I didn't believe it could change so much.
I totally understand how betrayed some of you must have felt. I'm glad that it wasn't all pvp by the time I played, but WOW what a switch after Tortage. It was like nothing I had ever seen, and not in a good way. I still played into Khitai, but I never had so much fun again, and once I hit 81 and just kept dying over and over and over and over in Khitai, I left. It was an empty shell. But I do still like to rejoin every now and then, make a new character, and redo Tortage -- its that good. The only good starting zone I've really ever seen.
12 years a slave was the most overrated guilt movie ever. They need to watch Schindler's List a couple hundred times to see how it's done.
Haha yes they can watch whatever, but yes you get what I mean .
You know I'm actually visualizing the OP weeping while holding his AoC box while the Schindler's list theme is playing in the background.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
Whether it be a grain of sand or a rock, in water they both sink alike.
wow..... Some peoples perspective on life is really fucked up.
I...don't really think that analogy applies.
I mean, are you saying that a bad game release and mass murder deserve the same amount of scorn?
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
Word.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
In a world, where game developers break promises....there comes a time when a man must take a stand, and blow everyone away....with angst ridden posts on forums...
The summer blockbuster to end all summer blockbusters....AOC RELEASED UNFINISHED!!!

It really was a shocking realization for me to get into Early Access and see how broken the game was. There were still those fan boys claiming some magic patch would come in at launch and fix everything. God, that launch day was horrible.
Tortage was a revelation though. I could have my polished first person RPG experience in an MMO world! It was a dream come true. A marriage of two gaming genre's set against a wonderful Conan universe. The post Tortage reality was heart breaking.
The Funcom response was horrible through out it all. They learned nothing from their Anarchy Online launch. It was such a slap in the face.
Companies should not get away with this. Speak with your wallet. Keep embers of truth burning.
Never forgive. Never forget.
when did you play AOC last? have you played since 2008? The game is great, my favorite game of all time and I play it every day. I wont leave until servres close. No other MMO gives me this feeling. AOC for Life:D

Awsome pvp patch and anniversary. Game will live for 6 more years
Remember, Remember, the 15th of ..err May..
The AOC treason and plop...
I see of no reason the AOC treason...
should ever be forgot...
this... kinda seems irrelevant. There's not much that AoC did that other games have adopted, and it barely exists, itself, as I suspect it's living on lack of development in order to continue... I won't go into the black hole that is guessing how many people still play. That's apparent.
That said, the Tortage experience was unique at the time, so thanks, Funcom, for fooling me for a bit, into thinking you put that much effort into the rest of the game.
I could not imagine, 6 years later coming on a forum and showing mass amounts of hatred for a game that was released, albeit not working for months on ends in some respects. But seriously? 6 years later you still have a gripe about it?
In the MMO world nothing is released as a solid game anymore, nor was it really ever. Hell we are already seeing games not released in consoles and other single player games. Man if you used this hatred for Funcom and Conan for something more productive, you could go to the Moon!
unfortunately this is true.
Even more unfortunate is that no other mmo has made character animations as good as AoC did. Not a single one.
