OMG! I used to be a computer technician before I retired...I used to clean those damn things all the time....Sadly, some of the students at the county college I used to work for would steal teh mouse balls! Was pretty funny reporting in that I'm minus 3 mouse balls in lab 4...

1997-2003.
When almost every single AAA MMORPG appealed to a different niche, and they were all moderately successful. There really was high profile game for every kind of player. Now we have high profile games for casual quest grinding WoW style MMO fans, and nothing for anyone else. Except maybe Eve.
Also, Narius, your trolling and constant thread hijacking is tiring.
My tool for cleaning my mouse was simply a paperclip unfolded to use a pointy end to scratch off all the gook. I got pretty efficient at cleaning my mouse and always had a paperclip on my desk at the ready. Aah the memories.

I did too, unfortunately, the only kind that I really loved, stopped being made and none of the others ever had the right feel. I'd get one right now if I could.
haha I was probably the last adopter of the optical mouse. They just didn't feel right.
Ah Cephus was one of those weird track-ball people. Explains a lot.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
Makes me want to wash my hands just thinking about it. Not that the sides of my gaming mouse are any cleaner. Ever scrape your nail down one? Ick!
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
To be honest, I'm not quite get the connection... I assume under golden age you mean the early 2000s? We've cleaned mice since years by then... don't even remember my first, maybe '94?
Also, in the late 90's - early 2000s mmo was your least problem. Quake and CS, a perfectly cleaned-out mouse was much more needed in those (and the first IR mice were lame, slow and inaccurate. Analog solutions ftw)
What was the golden era lol or did you just get an optical mouse so late? I got one already at like 99 or 2000 and they were already pretty big by that time.

Yeah, something I haven't thought about in years, and sure don't miss one bit.
Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

The moment the mouse lost it balls, so did this genre.
