How good is grouping?

BrienzerseeBrienzersee Member Posts: 13

I'm thinking on getting this game, as the PVP orientation and other features appeal to me.

In order to make up my mind I'd like some more info, so I'd fire a few questions to which I have found unclear and incomplete answers. The stickie FAQ post also does not adress this directly and I did not have time to dig dozens of pages of forum threads and videos. My PVP doubts were nicely answered but what about grouping?

I enjoy very much grouping und dungeoning (instanced or not). So, for those on alpha:

How is group play? How many people usually gather together? The usual 3~5 or some different figure?

Do the "classes" sync well together like FFXI or EQ or is it more like every man for himself in his role like WOW and Rift?

Are there fun dungeons?

Are there many of them?

Are they all non-instanced?

How long are the typical runs?

There are 9 dungeons in ArcheAge.

They range in difficulty and some are easier than others by a large margin. Having the right mix of class styles and a good track record of working well together as a team will be needed for some of them.

Gathering is different in this game. Mining nodes are not shared so doing them solo is easier. Farms and fishing are where alot of gathering happens as well as mob drops. Fishing is best done on a boat with friends. Mob killing with friends. Trade runs with friends. Dungeons with friends. Basically a group or guild is important to success in this game. One can be solo but the path to success with be long.

Dungeons are instanced. There are outdoor bosses to fight from a single group named to a huge creature that must be taken by a large raid..

Dungeon runs are anywhere from 45 minutes upwards depending on your group skill, class mix, and levels compared to the dungeon. Some dungeons are more fun than others depending on personal preferences. There is nothing drastically different about dungeons in this game from Rift or Wow if you have played those games.

There are a few dungeons ingame the ones I played are pretty good and well design, group is necessary for them in total 2-3 players required but again dungeons impact and % of the game is very very small.

Most grouping evolves PvP and World bosses(non instance), player progression passes through pvp zones(at X time pvp is turn off to help new players and trading around 2h) so not to long ago I was doing questing in a PvP zone and I kept getting killed by a enemy faction player I group with another player doing the same quests and was also getting killed, we managed to kill him but then 30 secs later a large group of enemy factions players rush and started attacking I managed to escaped to the Nui Respawn safe zones to regroup with the other group member who died.

This enemy faction group was killing so many players and making them respawn on the nui respawn point which then led to grouping all this players who had been killed, now significantly outnumbering them, I invited more players to my group and we then we rush this group of players and began killing and pursing them on horse and on gliders, we managed to keep ourselves close to each other and we eventually won breaking the enemy, it was so epic truly a sort of underdog comeback and it looked really cool like a small army probably around 60-80 players in that fight.

If you're patient the game will release as sub and free to play option so you'll be able to try it without any loss like most that bought $150.00 alpha access.

That's what I'm doing will try it free if it's good will sub :)
