Old Lineage 2 Is BACK !!! NCSoft Will Open A Classic Server

To please the Korean fans, NCSoft decided to open a Lineage 2 Classic Server (more details will be available soon). An open beta test for this server will be launched on May 28, 2014 and should end in June.

    Is it possible for US players to connect to the server? 

    I would play on korean server if I had to.

    It was the best MMO news I heard too, until I kept reading...

     

    Looks like this is a Korean only event, which require Korean SSN#s to login & may even block non Korean IPs.

     

    Also, it's not a straight port to Prelude, or C1.  My understanding is that its will start as a C1 / C2 hybrid, and progress quickly through the expansions, getting to the release of the Kamel race in early 2015.

     

    Others are speculating that this is a sort of experiement for NCSoft Korea, to gauge populatrity & interest.

     

    Given NCSoft NA has always been the red-headed stepchild, I'm not confident that NA will see anything similar (too bad)

     

    I played from closed Beta - C4, and tried to get back in a couple of times during Gracia & finally in GoD.  Each time I started it up again, I quickly realized that it was impossible to keep up with the Jones', given how item & level dependent being competitive was...just too many players with old toons, or deep pockets to have any sort of impact on endgame.

     

    A reset, in an old environment with less complicated (i win) skills & items, and no cash shop would be nice!

    I just don't understand why they wont just make the game back like it was. Ever since Goddess Of Destruction people have been asking for the old game back and they keep giving these lame updates that they claim are bringing back the old Lineage 2. I just hope they take this as an example and don't make the same mistakes in Lineage 3.

    Hello! The Russians (4game aka. innova) launched Lineage 2 Classic a bit over a month ago. It's 5 euros per month, and my clan on their Eva server is currently recruiting English speaking players.     Hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I posted any update on the situation, so here we go. First of all, I would really appreciate if you stopped thinking that we are withholding any info that can be shared with you. Next, a bit of update. I still can't grant you with a definite "yes" or "no", but we are in the middle of making a site for collecting registrations. We will release it within a month so get ready to call your friends who might be excited about the possibility to play good old L2. "Collecting registrations" means that we will give you an opportunity to make a statement that you are really interested in a Classic server. From our side, launching a game is a serious decision and before we make it we want to see how many of you are actually out there.

    Good news, but I'm not gonna play on NCWest servers EVER AGAIN. I've seen how their GMs work (or rather don't work) and how much action is taken against cheaters and botters (again, rather no action taken). I'm still waiting for Innova EU servers to come with a classic L2 server...

    The Open Beta phase is free-to-play, but after it will end on June 3, 2014, Lineage 2 Classic Servers will change to the pay-to-play business model featuring a $30 monthly subscription and a $70 – 90 days subscription plans.

    Anything that has ncsoft should be avoided like the plague. Maybe if innova came up with Classic servers...:)

    Wouldn't that be something?  Playing on a classic server only to turn around and get killed by a max level bot just like on the original servers.  It would be like history repeating itself all over again.

    Yes NCWest would have to work hard to get back trust in them. I think a classic server that has all of the updates to the game with old school gameplay will be great. It will give us that played long ago a chance to play a game we miss and others a chance to try it out. Innova said this month for registrations, so lets hope they don't delay it again.

    Keep an eye on the Innova EU forums. They said a website for registrations will be opening within the month.
