I've lurked here for years. Just set up an account a week or so ago. Never thought I'd have occasion to post.
But this is too much.
With the latest patch, many players' quest achievements have been reset to ZERO, and a timeline for this fix is "at least two weeks away", according to a post from an official forum moderator.
According to other forum contributors, this was bugged back in PTS testing—and still the patch was rolled out.
I don't use cheats. I explore the world on my own. I use the achievements, and gaps in my maps, to locate landmarks that might include quests and experience, and to mark my progress. Now I have no way of knowing if I've completed all my quests in Auridon and Grahtwood.
But keep in mind, this affects players in at least one other zone.
The thread has thousands of views since yesterday.
Evidently, the patch was rolled out to the Euro Server, and this bug has affected those players as well.
Remind me again what I'm paying for?
Player frustration is very, very high in the thread: Removed Achievements, which is located in their "Customer Support" topic. More like Customer Non-Support.
I'm a mature player, a patient player, not given to fanboy hyperbole, but my goodness, two weeks or more to fix a known bug that was still rolled out?
Unethical. Please understand, I know there are lots of issues like this, that affect individual quests and player skills. This just feels different to me. How hard is it to keep a part of the game working, a part of the game that deals with record-keeping, not gameplay (though it effectively halts effective gameplay for players with my play style), but record-keeping that was already working correctly?
Unethical to knowingly thrust this onto customers of a P2P game.

Working on a refund for this month's subscription, then we'll see. Glad I haven't paid for multiple months in advance.
I get your frustrations. I lost all of mine as well, but do you know what would have been affected by removing the code that causes this bug? Was it better to leave a known issue in the patch to get more important and higher priority fixes in? Would waiting to roll the patch out to fix this minor bug have caused more issues? Yes, it is just minor because it does not prevent you from playing the game of finishing something critical to the game.
i don't know the answers to those questions and no one other than the group of people involved know those answers. I can tell you that I have made similar decisions when it comes to software because it was more important to get it out to fix major issues than to take the time to fix every single bug. To us the consumers that are not aware of the entire picture it looks pretty bad, but it's not always what you know, but rather what you don't know that forces decisions like these.
Then again, it could have just been a very bad call. We will never know the entire story unless we are that team that makes these calls and that does suck at times like these when to you, a minor issue is something more than minor.
Yeah, I get what you're saying as well. But when it comes down to it, I get the right to decide what's a major issue for me, and that may very well not align with Zenimax's definition of major. We'll see if I receive compensation for an issue that is major to me and many other players. We'll also see if Zenimax continues to enjoy my patronage.
Hey, I totally agree with your way of thinking. I was just trying to be a "devil's advocate" if you will to give you and others something else to consider. Like I said, we will never know what they were thinking. That is unless they happen to tell us, but I won't hold my breathe on that one.
I wish you good luck though in trying to get a refund and in whatever game you move on to!
Well, unenthusiastic, if appreciative props to Zenimax. I believe they're going to give me a credit of some kind. They asked for the last four of my credit card number.

I never said I was quitting, but who cares.

As you can see from the preceding quote, as grammatically incorrect and unprofessional as it is, the question isn't whether or not I'm to get a refund—only what type of refund I'm to receive remains at issue (i.e., a partial- or full-month credit). I'll be happy with either.
