I don't know why CREDD would worry you so. It is not a straight Cash for Gold service. Players buy CREDD, and sell it to other players in game, for in game gold. So the buyers would also need to farm up gold to buy the CREDD. It is exactly like EVEs plex system, and I don't hear the cries that EVE is p2w.
My conclusion is quite a few just haven't bothred to research the game, i don't mind people speaking negatively or disliking it, but at least look up the information first, because when i read some posts it makes me think "is this guy for real?"
On topic: Housing defo one for me. there's so much that can be done and so much that' can be found., but what gets me the most is people can design their OWN houses with all the objects you can aquire, so you not just limited to preset houses. People are already asking that they expand on this hopefully we will see this.
Originally posted by BMBender Didn't read; don't care. If you had named it 5 reason why I(the author) should play; I'd have read it. You don't know me(the reader), therefor your unlikely to pull reasons out of your ___ why I should do anything.
One the main reasons you list is a housing system. Which you then compare to the great Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. This is a DISGRACE to those games housing systems. This is once again an INSTANCED HOUSING SYSTEM. Who cares about an island I have to GO TO to go and sit in my house. Housing needs to be NON-INSTANCED land grabbing is a large part of what made the above mentioned games systems so great! This is just another watered down mini-game as I see it since it is not part of the actual game world you are running around in.
I have to choose 6 out of 88 kits. That is nothing, there is no real challenge there. Try placing a Castle in UO, or even a Small House in a great spot near a hunting ground, or a trade mall. That is a challenge that is housing that means something. I want a house my friends can come meet up at then set out right from there to the dungeon or hunting grounds that are close by. Not loading screen after loading screen. To yet another loading screen. Pass.
Originally posted by Madimorga The housing sold me on Wildstar. They got my preorder money solely for that (but bonus that it's science fiction and not another fantasy MMO). CREDD worries me. If they screw with the ability of players like me to farm up our own gold to really enjoy our housing, I'll have to become a hater and unsub. Hopefully my fears are groundless.

I think we've heard from the "wow clone" crowd quite enough, people. I'm certain these are the same people who called games like Tera, GW2, and ESO "wow clones", and who also would say that Halo and Call of Duty are the same game. Can we please just stop with that nonsense?
I played Guild Wars 2. Everyone said the same about gems for gold. Don't worry, it won't affect anything. Yeah right. Every time there was a good farming opportunity for gold, it got clubbed to death with the nerf bat. Housing in Wildstar is expensive. If every time there is a good farming spot it gets nerfed like in Guild Wars 2, that will put an end to my fun. I do hope it won't happen and it might not, but it could.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
I hear Wildstar have alot of fokus on dungeons and raids. Challenging endgame content. Great !!! But getting to the fun challenging endgame content should also be fun and challenging. Maybe it gets better after the first 20 levels, but if the first 20 level are deadfully bland, dull and generic then what's the point ?
I would love a game to fokus on endgame content, but if that's your main fokus let us get to that endgame fast. TBH i wouldn't mind a tutorial quest and when that's completed DING !! you're now max level and can start dooing the content we want to fokus on making.
With the amount of Mmo's you need to catch your audience from level one. Maybe i didn't realy give Wildstar a fair chance, i only made it to level 12ish, but i just never felt like loggin in again and continue my journey in Wildstar.
The combat mechanics is important when judging a game, else there's nothing on this list that are reasons for me to play this game. In fact, the "unique style and personality" is for me one of the major turnoffs, the number one reason why I'm not buying this game. I really, really hate it.
Housing is a plus, but not important enough to affect my decision at all. The subscribtion model means nothing for me, if I like a game, paying is not a problem.
So, to sum it up, this list is NOT 5 reasons for me to play it.
I hope you got well paid for this article. It's not journalism, it's advertising.
I have no problem with instance housing because housing for me is what I enjoyed in Everquest 2 where my house was a place I could create and sell things from. People who visited my home to pick things up would send me tells telling me they liked my home. I like housing where I can make things for it and design the area. Not interested in fighting for housing spots with people taking choice spots and then selling them to the highest bidder. Not even remotely interested in that.
SWG had one of ugliest things I found where places were filled with machines or harvestors destroying the scenery so I found EQ 2 and even Vanguard had very nice housing. Vanguard was not instanced but the housing area was separate. EQ 2 was actually better because it was in the main cities and people could come into your home to shop and would therefore be able to see your home.
Seeing the great creations that might be rivalling Norathian housing I am quite excited about housing in Wildstar.
How you can even compare PLEX system in EVE to this? EVE has real economy and credits are real deal, in Wildstar all they will achieve with this is army of bots grinding gold.
Perhaps you could explain to me the difference between EVE's PLEX and Wildstar's CREDD systems, because I fail to see it (apart from the name).
I can fly higher than an aeroplane. And I have the voice of a thousand hurricanes. Hurt - Wars
The article feels written from a very "sand-boxy" perspective, which is probably where all the hate is directed at.mYes, Wildstar has a TON of features, but it is a themepark to the bone.
It might have Housing, but that housing needs to tie into the economy, so they had to limit things to it.
It might have CREDD, but without a clear singular path to consistent money making (e.g. mining asteroids like), there isn't an obvious direct benefit.
It might have "art-style", but to be fair it is mostly there to ensure that a large mass of players can play the game, and that it doesn't look run down 5-8 years later. And the maps don't really feel like they were built to explore (you get a fracking buff for staying on the road!).
The only people Wildstar can cater to are those who enjoy some humour in their games, like to do dungeons/raids and like to follow a story.
For large variety in classes, tons of crafting, tons of gameplay options, tons of customization...Archeage is prob a better choice.

Perhaps if WS had an entirely player driven economy and a complex and deep production chain you might be able to link WS with something in EO. Alas, it doesn't.
I face palm every time I see a "WoW-clone" comment. From the comments on this post alone I have spent most of my time with my face in my hands.
Like that is suppose to be a good way to analyze a MMO these days. I really wish people would stop using the term clone, but I guess that would be like wishing I was really good at playing the guitar when I never practice.
I get the idea that everyone is trying to lay in perspective but the argument looses a lot of traction when you mention games like Guild Wars 2 or TESO and boast about them being innovative or nothing like this or that. It's similar to the F2P vs P2P arguments (which most people should see that F2P has ruined MMORPGs).
I love WoW, still play, and I will keep playing when Warlords drops. That doesn't mean that I find no merit in playing a game just because graphically it looks similar to WoW or any other MMO.
All I'm asking of the gaming community is before you start flaming a game like you are a skin head at a lynching, approach the argument like you are an adult with some insight.

I think I missed the explanation of how EVE's PLEX is different from Wildstar's CREDD. As far as I am aware both are purchased with real life money to be sold/traded in the game for in-game money, and ultimately consumed in game for more game time. How the economy functions from there seems mutually exclusive.

Yes, it appears so but given how you missed the point of my post by a mile, it doesn't really matter.
I am warning every one out there if you have not played the beta make sure you want this game.
if I did not play the beta I would have thought ok it looks good AAA and fun but NOOO there is something missing here just like ESO but mush worse.
I will not even play this game if you bought and subscribed for me and I played or tried to play 3-4 weekends after the first weekend reaching level 15 in a view characters it was torcher to try and play.
ill give it a big miss keep away from my wallet please!
When you have to admit how god damn similar it is to Guild Wars 2 multiple times in a "Top 5 reasons to play" list, I think it says a lot about why you should play "something else instead" if you like this kind of game..
I'll happily play Wildstar in a year when it goes F2P. But $60 up front + $15 a month? No way. Maybe if it were 2006, but not in 2014 where there are dozens of high-quality F2P and B2P MMOs and indie games for a fraction of the price.
5 reasons why we should not play Wildstar are given below :-
1. We can play WoW which is far superior in quality
2. We can play WoW which is far superior in quality
3. We can play WoW which is far superior in quality
4. We can play WoW which is far superior in quality
5. We can play WoW which is far superior in quality

and over here we can see the troll in their natural environment. Be careful not to startle them as they may become defensive and attack using mean words giving themselves the impression that they "won".
When opening the article I expected a real list, not a list that can be applied to pretty much every game. I thought we played mmorpg's for gameplay. I am going to play WildStar and have waited for it a long time, but this article sounds like someone got paid to advertise the game and made a halfassed article without even really knowing the game in depth.
"The partially cartoon-style visuals offer enough individuality to stand out from the Guild Wars 2’s and Elder Scrolls’ of the world, while the aesthetics are different enough to not be labeled a WoW-clone, at least not out of the gate."
First of all, Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online have completely different graphics from each other, if you have played them, you would know.
Second, the graphics in Wildstar are so similar to WoW that makes somebody wonder if they stole them from Blizzard. This is definitely a WoW-clone (in many more ways that just the graphics), like it or not.
And don't tell me that "housing", something that WoW doesn't have, makes the game not a WoW-clone, yes it does have 3 different things from WoW, but that's it, it has just 3 different things.
its an mmorpg, its a wow clone, you play it on a pc its a wow clone.wow was not even the close to the first mmorpg, nor is it even that great.yes it has the same graphics that is about as wow clone as it gets.wow story line sucked, the combat sucked,i doubt really that people try to copy wow.god i hate that term ,just a wow clone.get over it.

i played everquest for 3 years before wow. i played wow for 3 months when it first came out..it sucked.why people play the crap is beyond me.why people push the crap is really beyond me.guess they don't want to be the only sucker playing the game.

Yea, looks like ESO servers are down again, huh? Sorry to hear that. Hope you folks can get back in, soon.
But the art style is horrible, and I wouldn't play even if free.
Bye now.
