I would guess over the course of ten years WoW has cycled thru 15M+ players. So I would explain it to your parents this way.

Mom, Dad, World of Warcraft has been played by over 15 million people over the course of ten years. And this is the first time anyone has used the excuse of this game for their mental instability.

Now on a second note, maybe you should stop playing for awhile. Youre 21 years old still living at home, who doesnt own are car, and Im guessing a driver license either, if youre having your parents chauffeur you around. Do you even have a job? Im guessing not.

So a serious question to you is where do you plan on being when you turn 31? Because if you dont go out and start making friends in your area, they can even be WoW friends, who you may eventually be able to move in with and share the burden of renting, youre going to end up a 30 year old live in child.

And on another side note- I wonder if games like WoW arnt creating a social problem with people who cant let go of the fantasy reality and in turn creating live at home adult children.

Not saying you are one of those people OP. But you made made it easy to extrapolate a lot about you from what you wrote.

"I understand that if I hear any more words come pouring out of your **** mouth, Ill have to eat every fucking chicken in this room."

The Norweigan mass murderer Breivik also played Wow but with so many players there are bound to be a few nutcases.

Blaming violence on Rock n roll, rap, computer games movies or whatever is not something new but noone ever proved any connection. It is just narrowed minded old people wanting to find something else to blame then parents and bad mental health.

I have been playing video games since I was 6 years old, so over 35 years of playing video games since the Pac Man and Asteroid days and I still do not have the urge to kill anymore. I'm so a big fan of the adult movie industry and have no urge to kill anyone.

Stop blaming the Adult Entertainment Industry and Video game just because some people are crazy!

Now the NRA on the other hand...

Hope that's being sarcastic, because blaming an organization which promotes the safe and responsible ownership of firearms and participation in hunting & shooting sports by law abiding citizens for some whackjob going off the deep end because he couldn't get laid is just as stupid and narrow-minded as blaming video games and porn.

There is nothing responsible about the way that the NRA present themselves. I used to be a member, but they got so crazy, I would never want to be seen as acting that way, for any reason.

In particular, declaring the NRA to be at the forefront of the culture wars, and snarling about 'liberals', while waving guns around and talking about how politicians need to be afraid of people, that kind of thing does not present well at all.

There are plenty of reasons to play MMO's. It's a cheap form of entertainment, spending $15 a month to get 60 hours of entertainment if you play two hours a day. You said you're a raider, so I'm guessing 120+ hours, but time spent isn't really the concern. If you're stable I don't think it matters how often you play. It's also nice to have friends online, to go with your group of friends offline - personally I don't like to intertwine the two to include either entire group. I have my quiet geeky side, and my athletic outspoken side. They don't mesh seamlessly with the majority of friends on either side.

You could tell them that flirting with women that play Warcraft builds your confidence, and makes you happy. If you're in the closet you can also explain that flirting with women who are actually men is very beneficial for you.

I'll agree with the person who said that having your parents react in the first place is a good thing, even if it is annoying. If they were that easily swayed I think they can just as easily be swayed back by an opposing article, if not by your own points. Heck, make a page yourself and then link it to them if you don't think they'll take you seriously, but obviously trust everything they read on the internet. Hey, at least they care.

I'm going to offer an alternate opinion as well. You should go to therapy. Either the therapist will assure them you're fine, or you'll be able to talk openly about this or any other issue you might have. I personally don't see the downside of going. If you're okay it's short-lived. If not, perhaps it will help - and you'll get some medication. Nothing wrong with that.

Indeed, I don't work but I'm going to community college.  I personally don't want to go to a therapist because its a waste of time. I'm a normal person. I appreciate their concern but its to the point where they are over reacting to me playing admittingly long hours...I'm a raider and my little episode of me rushing my mom to get home so I don't miss my raid just fueled more suspicion after the shooting incident.  I do play to much I admit I take raiding serious. Just for the very reason I sit at home and play PC for hours don't Lookto great in most parents eyes....as far as me skateboarding I found a comfort level as skateboarding at a young age. I'm not athletic person I'm not a jock but I'm good at skateboarding and getting fresh air and sun I enjoy it even at age 21. But I guess I'm the voice for others who are perceived as a mental case about to go crazy and start killing people just because I spend most of my time in WoW. Like I'm lost in this fantasy world...

Can you clarify why you say your 21 and yet your profile lists you as 33?

What's wrong with being a 30 year old live in child? I lived with my parents till I was 33 years old and I have not killed anyone!

If you have to lie about your profil on a forum then yes you might have issues ...

Multiple personality disorder perhaps, or just ashamed to admit he's 33 y/o and still living at home with his parents and having them drive him around? In any case doesn't right or normal to me

No 4 years ago when I made this account I starting playing WoW and found this site for WoW info and mmos in general...I didnt want to put my real age of 17 back then as any normal person would do and not create an account with actual info..you think that alone would prove to my parents I'm normal

    [mod edit]

    If you say so.

And that's why I don't post real account info as I have no idea who that is...I don't even gamble

Stop..  This can get out of hand real quick. Speculation is one thing. There's no reason to go any farther.
