Gotten characters to 25 or so.. should I continue with WoW?

ThinmanThinman Member Posts: 461

So, this is a serious inquiry, I'm just trying to figure out if I should bother investing any more time in WoW.

I've gotten 3 characters to around lvl 25 or so. I've enjoyed the instances that I've played. But I'm getting very sick of the quest-based levelling. It just feels, as other people have said, like to much of an "on the tracks" kind of feeling.

My question is, does the gameplay change much over lvl 30+ or so? If so, how does it change? Would it be worth it for me to continue playing, if I'm feeling like lvls 1-25 are too repetitive/dull?

It could be just that there is no risk/reward scale in this game at all, and that makes the community less than worth being around.. I think that's part of what makes it boring for me as well. If they had some kind of real penalties that brought the community to band together, it may be a more enjoyable experience.. but does the gameplay pick up at all after 30+?

Looking forward (cautiously) to: Age of Conan, Dark Solstice, Armada Online.

Will soon try: Guild Wars

Overall: Amazed and bewhildered at the current sad state of the artform of gaming.

That's pretty much the exact way I feel about the game. I've made it to 39 and my experiences weren't really all that different than they were at 25, only the exp was slower.

Either way, I'm still trying to hang in there due to my friends.

It seemed so great when it first began... everyone was cool and friendly in the chats.. but the community's taken a big nose-dive it seems. And the lack of risk makes it basically a 0 in the fun area. Once you get past the initial enjoyment of the gameplay, you realize that it's all the same gameplay.. and there's nothing to keep you interested.

Oh well, on to new horizons.

It's basically the same thing all the way to 60, then you can enjoy doing the same instances over and over again.

Thinman, the game doesn't really change til you max the character.

Now I am starting to understand what kind of game Blizzard had in mind, I see a pattern that bring them back to their origins.
I think that Blizzard wanted to make a game that it was easy to play at the beginning, easy to level and also fun.
Their aim was to have people to max fast their character, so they could play all the future PVP(Battlegrounds) expansions, and recreate the original feel of warcraft.
Horde vs Alliance, that s what Warcraft was all about.
And now you can have real time battles between the factions with hundreds of players instead of competing against the computer or a couple of other players in Multiplayer mode.

I think that in the future WOW will be even more focused on PVP, with new Battlegrounds maps coming out regularly.

So if you like the original Horde vs Alliance battles, and you like PVP, then I suggest to keep leveling your characters, because the game will be really fun.
Otherwise just forget about WoW, because if you don't like PVP, the end game is not that entertaining image

Hmm... I really only enjoyed the game up to level 30. I have a 40 druid in which I have not logged on for a while in. I got tired of the game really. From level 15 to level 40 there was not much difference between quests quests quests(boring ones at that) and boring crafting. Community is lacking and I can never look at the community for answers. I believe that level 40+ is pointless unless you are looking to just grind away and then fight in pointless PvP. Small range of spells and around level 30 you only learn upgrades of your current spells(::::07::). As a level 10 I had always dreamed of being around 40 so I can actually PvP, but most of the people are 50+ and just love to gank. I would just save your time and invest your time in a more worthy investment.

That's one of the issues that led me to cancel my WoW subscription for now. There's one game fun and easy to play from 1-60. Then at 60 you have a different game.

Agreed, but WoW doesnt capture that at all. Since when could the horde not destroy a town the allaince held? true it would ruin the mmorpg, if they did it WRONG. Sigh, they just made a care bear game and didnt take any chances. It had great potential though.

you end up just grinding monsters for levels instead of questing

the quests seem so much like a waste of time cause you have to travel so much

you make more money just killing monsters repeatedly, and will level faster

    repetitive and boring

and when your done you dont do anything except gank alliance noobs

    Jackman, I agree with you.
    But Blizzard is getting there.
1 month ago there were no Battleground, and now there are.
I think that from now on, Blizzard is going to concentrate its effort in developing more and more PVP content in form of more Battleground maps.
And maybe in the future, who knows, we will see castle sieges like in the old Warcraft, where factions fight to conquer the enemy fortress.
    Watch this space.
