Hi,
I am a lurker here but thought I would post a few of the issues I have had with Wildstar, partly out of frustration, partly for catharsis and partly so as to possibly assist other people with similar problems: -
Don't get me wrong, I like the game a lot; I just want to be able to play it without all of these problems.
Saturday
On Saturday I was unable to login for most of the day and was receiving an 'unable to connect to Wildstar Login Services' message. I submitted a ticket which still hasn't received a response (which does not surprise me as, no doubt, they are inundated).
Eventually I fixed this by disabling my firewall; running in xp compatibility mode and as administrator. Port forwarding is not required despite some advice indicating it is.
Sunday
It was all running fine except for a recurrence of the above error on some log-outs which required a computer restart. When I say fine, I should add that it suffers huge memory leakage and is poorly optimised for AMD graphics cards; but it was running as well as I can expect given these (quite major) issues.
Today
This morning the game received an update; and now I am receiving the following error at login: 'Unable to Connect 206.127.148.166:23115'. Now the servers are down (but with no indication on the client).
I have heard nothing about compensation, and I know that most mmo launches are fraught with problems; but whatever happened to paying for a product (in this case headstart) and actually receiving the product you payed for?
I hope it all gets sorted out soon because I want to enjoy the game.

Servers are currently back up as of 30 seconds ago.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
No worse than waiting in queues for greater than 2 hrs both days.
And then being told I was lying about it....
So I went on the forum... read the thread about guest accounts, submitted my ticket. About an hour later the customer rep emailed back saying "there's nothing we can do". Go back and look at the same forum (WS forum) the MOD had posted in and found they had ninja edited the post (again).
Holy SHIT? you actually logged in and played? I did not get to login once and play, every single time the servers were max capacity and all locked every single time I tried to play.
Yeah, I am more than pissed, I wanted to actually play in the head start!
I am so good, I backstabbed your face!
Seems a bit exaggerated. I logged in and out multiple times all weekend with no problems getting into my server.
Heh my characters that I made when the servers went up early saturday morning will probably not be seen for a few weeks. Saved all the names I wanted, leveled a character to 8, went to bed, haven't seen that server with less than a 3 hour queue since.
Currently playing on a "Heavy" pop server.
This space reserved for pithy comment.
Wait - your misconfigured firewall is their issue?!?! Anyway, good you got it figured out.
I'm running a commercial AV+firewall product and didn't have any issues with that. Most games in the last 2 years or so liked it a lot better (read: won't run otherwise) when running in admin mode, so that was a given to me.
Are you running any add-ons? Guildies mentioned they had memory leak issues with some popular add-ons and /reloadui fixed it.
FWIW, if you crash out of WildStar (or close the game via Alt-F4) the game remembers you were logged in and will let you in right away when you log back in. (Not sure what the timeout here is, worked for me and guildies when we relogged right away).
Client said servers are up? Notice in the launch window there is a server status in bottom right corner.
File a ticket and good luck?
The game has been running smooth for me (i5 4670K, R9 200), very occasionally some stutter, or what felt like it. In a 10 hour play period I did eventually run into a slow down. Not sure if memory leak and if so, if it's WildStar or an add-on. But Alt-F4 plus logging back in fixed it.
I didn't have any quest issues until 20. Stuff I thought was broken (and I reported so) turned out to be my mistake, like expecting a reward before I actually turned in quest. Guildie said there was a broken quest hub in a 30, 35 zone that forced him to grind a level or 2 by killing mobs. But he was rushing levels, so he may have missed some quest step that would have enabled that hub?
Queues? Yea, there are queues! The wait time shown is a very conservatives estimate. I had a 4 hour wait estimated for me, but got in after 1 hour. No idea about their time estimate algorithm. if it guesses how quickly people log off and then more or fewer people than guessed it could make your time bounce around a lot.
Got to level 15, got overwhelmed by the content, the housing system, the quests, the paths, the battlegrounds, the AMPs, the crafting, the runecrafting, the costumes, the colours, the dungeons, the taxis, the trams, the lore, the systems.
And the large part in that overwhelming sensation was played by a horrible FPS rate. I went from 30... to 20... to 10... to none. And back. And up. And down. My rig will not launch a space probe to Neptune, but it ran ESO without a problem on medium details. I went as low as ultra-low with this, changed resolutions, tried everything, but to no avail.
I had no problems getting in the game, but was disconnected at least 6 or 7 times during the weekend, and those disconnects would slow down my computer to a crawl for some 10-15 minutes, so I'm talking about very disruptive occurrences. I understand that this is head-start, but it's not beta, it's not alpha, it should not be a test phase, and it should give people a very concrete taste of the live version - since it actually IS a live version. I hope to god this is not the way WildStar will run.
I am sorry you had some issues logging in, Other then the head start and the 4 hour queues that are actually only 30-45 mins even tho they say 4 hours, all 80 guild members have not had any issues. Some have got d/c from server only to log back in without the queue as carbine had made a fix that the game would remember your playing.
Honestly other then this morning the servers have been up expect the 30min hotfix I know I didnt experience these issues that others are having and that doesnt make it not real, its just that 80 other people have not had them either. So I hope your luck changes.
People like you make me want to punch someone in the face. Good for you.
And then you have normal people like in my guild on Stormtalon. I waited for a total of 1hr 45 minutes on Saturday to get access with my guild (at which point I gave up and rolled my alt on Evindra). Logged in super late Saturday night (after a server reboot) and was able to hop in after a 20 minute wait.
Logged in immediately super early Sunday morning. Went to breakfast and came back. Boom another 30 minute wait. Played for a bit then had to take the family out for a while. Came back and tried lastnight. Sitting in queue for 2 hrs (it said I had another 4 to go) I gave up. Others report waiting for even longer. Sorry but no one schedules their lives around a 4 hr queue line. That's just wrong.
Their own CS reps are giving out contradicting information between tickets and forums.
And if you think this is going to do ANYTHING but escalate tomorrow, you're being delusional. Lock the servers. Stop people from even being able to CREATE a new character on the server. It'll regulate itself.. but frankly, at this point, I'm going to regulate and my guild is going to have to play without me.
I mentioned that for the sake of completeness (fully realising that this being mmorpg.com some smartarse would jump on it but stupidly hoping they would actually read the entire sentence); it is the fact it would not run in windows 8.1 and had to be altered to run in xp sp 3 compatiblity mode that bothered me more.
This solved the issue for me but if you check the bugs section of the forum you will note that there were widespread log-in issues with many different causes and solutions.
I forgot to mention that once I got in, the queue times forced me into an RP realm- that is something I should have added to my list of woes.
I literally just watched the episode of dragon ball the other day that your avatar of master roshi is depicting. Bulma better get ready for that romantic walk after roshi puts out the wall of fire for the ox king :P
I started a new character on one of their newer PvP servers because I didn't feel like dealing with the incredibly long queues. First time I logged on and it said the estimated wait time was 7hrs+. I've never seen the server I'm on hit Full capacity yet so I've been pretty lucky with getting in right away.
Hopefully Cus. Service will get their heads on straight for launch because I have a feeling they're going to be getting the same complaints/questions/gripes for the next few months. And I hope that Carbine doesn't mar their good track record with Wildstar by falling apart at launch.
I got the unable to connect messages right after it went live but fixed it by hard wiring a connection to my router, seems Wildstar has an issues with some WiFi setups. I have been able to login all weekend without a problem as long as I am wired to my router but if I remove it and go wireless I get the unable to connect again. The strange part is I was able to play all the betas using wireless but something they added for launch put a stop to that lol.
After talking to several of my friends who are playing it seems the people using USB wireless connections are having more of this issue for some reason. Out of 14 friends and family playing I have 3 who have WiFi on their motherboard and they are logging in with no errors but the rest of us who have the external USB WiFi connections are having to run a cable to our systems to get around that error. The strange part is we are all using the same wireless ISP and I even configured my settings exactly like one of my friends who can connect wireless, in fact the only difference in our systems is he has a motherboard with WiFi and I have a USB WiFi adapter.
I tried the disable firewall, port forwarding, various compatibility modes as well as changing to various security settings on my wireless connection and none worked but as soon as I went wired it logged right in instantly. I have to say they are the first game I have played where wireless or wired connection made a difference. One of my friends had a really strange situation, he has his modem bridged with a router behind the modem just like the rest of us but even hard wiring to his router he could not connect so he un-bridged his modem and removed his router then hard wired directly to the modem and he has been connecting with no trouble ever since.
Seems Wildstar should win an award for being the only game that is picky about your internet connection.
